LOVE it !!! Lady maria is one of my favorite character combined with exceptional music,story , characteristic and atmosphere . Unfortunately a good-hearted lady like her didn`t end well which makes it a tragic story.

@@puremorde9814 Hey no problem, I'll try my best to answer your questions :) I'm not a professional artist, I just draw as a hobbie. Most of what I do is by practise cause drawing is a skill that grows by itself with habit, if you draw everyday, even if you don't like the result, it's one step closer to improvement, you may feel stagnant sometimes, feeling like you are not improving, but give it time, be patient, and just draw a lot. Draw anatomy, draw poses, draw a lot of faces, draw people you see on the street, don't create every drawing expecting a masterpiece, practise those things a lot, they are the base for mostly anything :) Once you get more confident with a pencil you will be able to draw most of the things you enjoy. Just keep in mind that depending on how much your draw everyday, it may take months or more for you to start noticing improvement, patience here is very important so don't give up. It's good to save your old drawings, so you can compare them to your new ones from time to time! Hope I helped in any way :)
This is simply awesome...I get frustrated by just being able to do the outline of an image, if that's done right it's easier but this is just great. In terms of pencils used, was it literally just an 8B you used on the shading? I'm getting the eraser you mentioned but was it just an 8B?
Charlie Burrows thank you so much! I used 2B and 8B, Lady Maria was mostly just 8B, I only used the 2B in the base shading of the chair. Background was mostly a 2B . The erasers are awesome! Give me your thoughts when you use it :)
Hey! Don't remember exactly since I drew this around 5 or 6 years ago. But I'd say 5/6 hours , not sure, the drawing is not very big, almost an A3 sized paper. Thank you for your comment :)
Vanessa, can I ask, are you just using graphite pencils or ink pens too? I know you list what you used but the hat looks like your using a small ink pen of some sort, or is it a graphite high B? Ive sketched this and trying out the technique...

Space_cadet 5604 I don’t do anything special, I have preferences in materials I use if you want to consider that :) I only use Faber Castle 8B graphite pencils for 90% of my drawings and just play around with the strength I put to it to make it lighter or darker. Very rarely I use 2b pencils, been using on my recent portraits cause they are a bit lighter but Lady Maria for example, she was 100% done with one pencil. Also tombow erasers were the best thing I ever found, their shapes are awesome to create highlights, totally makes a difference. And for last one thing I usually don’t dismiss is graphite powder, be it for background effects, smoke or even a base to draw over it. I hope I helped!
