    Magnificent.
I like how the blocks of wood still look 'blocky' like, while it is a perfectly circular artwork, as it spins it looks like it has hard angles. It becomes a bit mesmerizing. The shavings look fantastic too.

I don’t blame her, this is a fantastic base. Using the inside of that larger ring was a good decision. Worked out beautifully and made the piece. Glad you got those two rings opposite of each other too. Worked out to make a special piece, even if it’s not what you had “planned” out. Well done Ken.

This is definitely in the top 5 best things you've made, in my opinion. I love your placement of the alternating ring between the wood and resin sections to make it look like a large cylindrical finger-joint, but man the depth of the resin with those metal shavings... wow. This is one of those pieces you'd just want to hold and stare at for ages, enjoying all the details. No wonder the missus claimed it!

When you're doing an occlusion pour like this and KNOW you're going to drill the middle, spinning it while it is vibrating can reduce bubbles near the outside a great deal. When I make carrot cake with raisins, carrot, strawberry I do the "platter spin" with the cake pans and flat spin them and it keeps the large cavities from being near the outside. (carefully moistened and flattened freeze dried strawberry slices)

I was ambivalent about the aluminum BUT the blue resin, and your skills produced a marvelous piece of work. It is gorgeous.

I think the aluminum shavings make the resin look awesome.
My favorite wood to turn is bubinga. Love the way it smells. It sands nice and somewhat oils itself while Sanding.
