You have been such an encouragement for me! I am currently a dental assistant and have been struggling to further my career to becoming a dental hygienist for years. But this year I am positive that it’s going to happen!

You can do it! No matter what the time will pass so you might as well follow your dreams.

I heard dentistry is not a good field in general. Low pay, no room for growth opportunities, horrible staff, etc. I’m applying to Dental assisting school and I’m kind of discouraged.

Dental assistant is a great field ! It depends on the office, some can be catty. But you find the right one like me and start at the training pay and you have lots of room to move up in pay I make a pretty good amount a year in, with lots of benefits and great coworkers. Whoever told you that doesn’t have a good office.

I have seen so much growth in my 10+ years in dentistry. It all depends on you and what you do to grow in the field. There are terrible offices and there are great offices. Don't settle!

Work the front office! We get paid more usually and you’ll be an asset because you’ll get to learn ALL areas of a dental office and not only clinical stuff if you go to school.

I work as a dental receptionist and it’s been a great great job. I make more money than my friend who graduated assistant same time as me. I was offered the managerial position but I turned it down cause I’m going to school for hygiene next year so I just asked for a pay raise instead. Maybe one day I can go into consulting and teaching other offices how to better run their front staff through techniques I’ve developed as a receptionist. Or do dental software sales demos. Dental assistant isn’t the only option in the dental field 😊
