I drove across Canada with pretty much this for set up my honeymoon. The 2 problems I had, 1 being 6’3 it’s a little short. I fit on a slight angle with my feet between the seat.#2 being able to sit up in bed. If you have a bad back at all you’ll regret it. Since you took out the back seats dropping it a little lower might help and having a larger slide out might help. We just added a 3rd to the family so this no longer really works for us so in the spring I’m going to attempt to make a hard top camper. (Remove my roof and attach it to the Jeep)
Hi! You did a great job! So exciting. Please share the type of drawer slides. I’ve been looking and can’t find what I think would be best. Yours are great.
Exactly.. Thats why I've redesigned my 2dr JK to include a tent off the rear bumper for a better camping experience, 75" long, full sitting headroom and the best part, EZ to get into!
I've been looking at these kinds of video's for years, you are the very 1st person who has designed and built exactly what I had in mind. I still do not own a Jeep yet, but would love to know some of your dimensions. I plan to do this with my wife, so I was curious of dimensions like distance from sleeping deck to roof, width of sleeping deck left to right, total sleeping length with tail gate closed, and how high did the deck have to be to accommodate the fridge on a slide? This video is great! cheers
I built almost a similar platform. If I remember at the back door it’s 43”(I have the built in subwoofer) and kind of tappers out to the doors which is 47” between the doors. I built the platform on 2”x6” an 1/2” plywood. Only did it that high for storage underneath. If you’re anything over 6’ you’re going to be cramped. I smoked my face on the roll bar sitting up a few times so that was fun.
Why does everyone put the stove on the left sliding drawer instead of the right by the tailgate? It seems like that would offer more space when you stand and cook? Also, can the cooler section hold a refrigerator cooler instead? Or are they taller? I'd love to see a low design like yours, but with a plugged in fridge instead of a cooler.
Thanks! The building materials were no more than 1K . My big ticket items were the battery, cooler, rack system, and storage box which drives the total up but those are things u dont need need
Can we get a blue print?
Dimensions/Specs video coming soon!
@@MyEcoJournal Yea please bro
Great video - great setup. Any update on the Dimensions/Specs video?

Great job! My build is going slow and seeing a good result like yours helps keep the motivation up.
Thank you! A tour video is almost done!

As acarpenter I think you did a good job for a young guy..well done! Experience will help you plan ahead, thus creating less mistakes. but great work
Thank you! First time working with wood on a big project. My father (with more experience) was a blessing to teach me the foundations

Great build! Greetings from rural Japan!
Hope to see your area one day!
Re 2 dr.. The higher your platform the longer the bed. Built mine to the window height, I'm 6-2.. lots of storage below.
Basically where mine is at. Just hard to climb in and out🤣

Good build.
What size and brand is your cooler ?
It’s a Yeti 45 L Tundra
I absolutely love the idea. Video is way too shaky though. Good luck on your awesome project.
Thank you! It is shaky and the one I’m about to upload is no different!🙈 Maybe I should get a stabilizer or use my tripod more lol

Omg please come build this for my Jeep 😍
Sure thing😉
Great job! 👍🏾Thank you
For your bed extension pieces what is that hinge you used to add the pieces called?

Jeep has been updated since this video with a fridge and a better stove set up
Where did you get that L bracket at? Also do you have dimensions for it? Tried finding one similar was too big.
SO COOL! Me and my friend have already started saving up to do this in my car, I was wondering how much you have spent in total?
Thanks! The building materials were no more than 1K . My big ticket items were the battery, cooler, rack system, and storage box which drives the total up but those are things u dont need need
How did you find out where you needed to cut?
A tape measure! Always cut less than u need to and test fit the piece, then chip away until it fits right
Thanks!
Has anyone seen this done with a 2 door?
No updates...
Coming this week! Been a busy Summer!
Stop saying ummm dude
