Good video, I and my wife went down at 55 mph, a deer landed in my chest ,totaled my bike ,broke some bones ,ribs shoulder, road rash was the worst thing ever , I had a textile jacket with no pads , the jacket saved a lot of skin ,if I had the pads in I would have saved some bones ,
@@motoalley I should add , blue jeans lasted for about 1 second, , I still ride thought , took me about 3 years to get over the accident, I should buy some kevlar jeans
Better safe then sorry. I crashed 3 years ago, some wet leaves and gravel on an exit of the turn on a twisty road. I don't even want to know how much damage the impact and sliding on an asphalt would to to me without riding gear.
My 'favorite' summer jacket is the KNOX Urbane Pro MK3. It's expensive as shit but it's amazing. It's single layer (like a T-shirt) but very protective and comfortable. On colder days it fits under a sweatshirt/jacket. It's legit great gear. When I think of gear and if I want to wear it I think of what someone told me once - If you can't afford a hospital bill then you better afford gear. Well, I can't afford a hospital bill so it's all the gear all the time and then a little bit of hope mixed in there lol. Ride safe out there! Also, if you're genuinely looking at gear and ride above 40mph regularly then do not waste your money on single A rated gear. It won't truly protect you. Buy double AA rated or better if you ride 40mph or faster regularly.
I use to ride with no gear. I remember once i rode to the beach im flipflops and shorts. I continued to be careless. Oneday when it was wet i laid my bike down. No helmet. Severe concussion. Lost all the hearing in my right ear. Wear your gear fellas.
Bin down on dirt and pavement plenty of times plenty of different speeds. Unless your going to wear legit gear. Not halfy half garbage. Your work boots and blue jeans will blow apart at much over parking lot speed. Or you will get split wide open through the clothes, you can get road rash through your gear. Same goes for all that gimmic gear people buy. Full gear or just a full face and gloves. Don't wast your money. If it's cold then you might as well wear a jacket with real protection.
In my opinion, the bike should look good & sound good. Be kept clean and serviced. But as for me, ATGATT!
you can be the best rider ever, but still cant prepare for the unexpected.
100%!!! Even the pros wipe out

Sorry to hear you went down, glad both of you are okay.
I never believed in gear when I first started riding

On my last ride, I was more concerned about sun burn more than anything.
I hear you there. Sun and wind burn on hot days isn't fun either

Man what a beautiful area to ride in, reminds me of hill country where I'm at, just less hills.
Thank you!! The back roads here are pretty amazing to ride.
Alittle further north and it's more hills and greener senary

Sucks you went through what you did but glad that's all you got out of it.
