I'm the same way about texting. I think the reason is because it never ends with just one text. You'll be stuck texting someone for 2 hrs about nothing if you respond right away so its easier to respond 6 hrs later so they are less likely to text you back.

To be fair, I don't text back very much either. I just hate texting, I don't want to encourage text conversations where I have to keep checking my phone instead of doing shit. People expect you to be chained to your phone too, so they get so mad if you don't text back immediately. So part of it is protest against that too. I do respond (sometimes, if the text merits it, like if you send me some fucking video or something I just don't care), but I'll wait a while to basically say "I'm willing to occasionally have one text interactions, when you or I have something worth saying to each other that isn't worth a phone call, but nothing more than that".
