Jimmy made a more compelling reason as to why HE would be a poor gun owner. He’s arguing with a guy that is an avid gun enthusiast about good gun judgment with evidence clearly coming only from T.V. and Movies. He sounds like he honestly believes that had he been the one in this situation, he would have whipped out his gun at the beginning and wouldn’t be sitting in court explaining why he thought it was appropriate to have pulled a gun on an unarmed kid. NO ONE WANTS TO HAVE TO GUN THEIR GUN!!!!! You almost convince yourself that nothing bad will happen and don’t wanna even acknowledge that you were wrong this time and it’s time to pull out the gun. The actual appropriate time. That being said, I have always and still am split on this thing. It’s just too much in favor of, yet also discounting, for both sides. Everyone picked sides from the moment the individual races were known...... kind of.... Zimmerman wasn’t white, but whatever. He looked like us enough for the MSM.

    • @-Twotonepony-
      @-Twotonepony- 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Michael Bowman
I mean, the video covers both narratives. So the reasons I'm split is because I can see the logic of both sides and we can't hear both parties sides of the story. I could see him being attacked and being forced to use the gun at the last given moment, but I could also certainly see him provoking the situation and escalating it. But unless he physically attacked Trayvon, then Trayvon had no reason to attack him because provoking isn't illegal. That's not to say he didn't make it physical first. But that's my whole point, we can't be 100% certain of anything and so we just have to trust that the system came to the correct conclusion. So I'm not trying to seem rude by any means, but how exactly could you specifically clear it up unless you were there? And even if you say you were, this is a TH-cam comment section. That wouldn't make me any less split on it. But I'm more than happy to hear a different aspect from anyone if it's something that is factual and not just an emotionally certain feeling.

Jimmy's hindsight could be used against Trayvon too. Trayvon shouldn't have punched the guy because you don't know what strangers are capable of. Maybe he could've called the police and said he was being followed by someone. When you assault somebody for any reason you are risking your own life because Zimmerman had the right to defend himself. I agree with Jim when he says Zimmerman could've handled it better but I think Trayvon was a big part of the escalation of violence too. If I was getting the shit kicked out of me I would use a gun too. I don't think Jim understands how impulsive and reactive people can be in these situations. Its human instinct

Jim Norton seems to be arguing that, contrary to the police dispatcher's advice, Zimmerman SHOULD have continued to follow Martin, after being told "We don't need you to do that". That is the exact OPPOSITE of what every other critic of Zimmerman has been saying. Almost in unison, Zimmerman's critics say "He shouldn't have followed Martin". Norton seems to be saying "Once he started following, he should have continued "The Hunt" until he found him". Seems Zimmerman would be facing criticism for virtually every possible action he could have taken.

Jimmy's argument is fragmented and messy . . . .but I know what he means . . .He should of said this: Zimmerman's guilt is that he had a CHOICE to not get involved (aka stalking him) . . . and when he chose to follow him, Zimmerman took on the RESPONSIBILITY of the situation and any outcome of that situation . . . If you have a choice, and decide to get involved in a situation . . . any situation . . .you are now at least . . . partially responsible for any outcome of that situation . . that is where Zimmerman is in the wrong.

Anthony made some good points, but ultimately neighborhood watch is tasked with Watching. If Zimmerman had stayed in the car and followed in his car, he couldn't have been ambushed.
Inb4 libcuck, I get that you can be a 'responsible gun owner' but being a neighborhood watch vigilante and taking it upon yourself to tail someone who is merely looking suspicious and then making egregious errors in how you handle the situation and allowing it to escalate is blatantly ignorant.
The media sucks, they were both wrong in the situation...but a chain of errors led to the death of Trayvon.

Zimmerman left the car with the gun to confront the kid when 911 dispatch told him to not do it. That right there makes him in the wrong and completely guilty. He only walked because of a completely insane "stand your ground" law (thanks again, Florida) that gave him a pass for murdering someone, and all he had to do was stay in his stupid truck and wait for a police car to show up if he was so concerned about catching a potential burglar. No, he wanted to play cop and use that gun. Like Norton said, that gun and the gun alone is the only reason he did what he did. Nobody denies there was a physical fight but if someone is following you at night and you're confronted by some random asshole, I can see how and why that would play out, and a kid is dead because some wannabe asshole shot and killed him. Zimmerman deserves to look over his shoulder the rest of his life and hopefully he slips up again and finds a jail cell where he belongs. Get that OJ karma.

I think that Anthony would change his mind now knowing the trouble Zimmerman got into after the Trayvon issue.. Zimmerman had an issue with his gun with his wife, his wife's father, his girlfriend and a traffic issue where he pulled his gun out for no reason... Zimmereman over-reacted with Trayvon.. The kid was walking thru the neighborhood on his way home and Zimmerman over-reacted and chased the kid AFTER he was told to stand down.. Trayvon was probably scared that some guy was following him and fought back and Zimmerman killled him.. Zimmerman should never had gotten away with what he did!! Trayvon was never accused of breaking into someones house or doing anything wrong other than wearing a hoody on a rainy day!!

From what I have read about this case, I would lean towards ants side on this. It seems Trayvon instigated the attack and an eye witness states he was on top of Zimmerman beating him up. I would agree that this was badly handled by Zimmerman, but I don't think he deserves to be tried for murder for this. It was an unfortunate and tragic series of events where both parties made mistakes.
