- I noticed that Opie and Anthony messing with the Todd Show wasn't on TH-cam anymore so I decided to put it up here.
Todd Pettengill, formerly of Scott and Todd, started his first solo show. O&A listened to it and gave it the Jocktober treatment.

For anyone who wants an update:
The Todd Show lasted less than a year and was rebranded as Todd & Jayne in January 2015, which then ended in May 2019. WPLJ is no more, it got sold and it's now K-LOVE.
I think they actually got rid of the song parodies when it got rebranded.

Sam is so cool
He’s still working in production but not on the air. He lives down in Texas not too far from me, ran into him twice at events he’s actually a really nice guy. I heard he has a personality that might rub people the wrong way if you work with him - he gets intense about it - but if you get a chance to just talk to him he’s pretty chill. I didn’t bring up the Jocktober stuff although I was tempted.
seems like they spent ten minutes coming up with the lyrics. then again, most of Todd's parody songs seemed like they were created while he was on the shitter.

Norton's Todd impression makes me laugh every time
Me too, and I don’t know why. It sounds absolutely nothing like Todd, but at the same time...it does.
Because Norton is doing a jerky boys impression because he claims Todd stole a jerky boys character for his phone scams. Interestingly enough, it's been definitively proven that Norton actually stole his "Chip" character from the Jerky boys. So Jimmy was just projecting his insecurity about his own joke stealing. I can find a link to that video if anyone would like.

Even though literally the only similarity - the _only_ similarity - whatsoever is the pronounciation of the word "something". Chip's backstory, being an awful stand-up, making people uncomfortable with terrible puns, his mother, his relationships etc etc....none of them are remotely similar to that Jerky Boys character. Even one of the Jerky Boys themselves has said he doesn't see the similarity.

The truly amazing part would have been listening to Opie whine about how he was miserable watching Todd be funny every day and how he didn't feel like he was a part of the show anymore and how it was obviously time to split up the Opie and Todd show and how Todd was manipulating the fans to hate him and how he just wants Todd to leave him alone, despite spending all of his time talking about Todd.
I like how Vince McMahon has hired almost everyone involved. Todd on 90s WWF, O&A for the XFL, and now Sam on WWE Network pre shows.

The most incredible thing is that Scott Shannon had a renaissance after Todd left.
He REALLY did. I'm actually happy for the man. He seemed so sad and defeated with Todd and it would actually bother me. I'm glad the boys slowly switch, especially Jimmy. Opie use to go HARD on Scott.... Jimmy saw it though. I guess that's why he lasted longer than his cohosts did

I'll agree with that 100%. Even if the Todd Show didn't have that legendary shit introduction, the phone scam, _and_ that song parody working against it, that DOA Alec Baldwin bit would be enough. Who even knew and/or gave a shit about Alec Baldwin moving and why would they make a bit out of it knowing full well that it was going nowhere? Everything just landed with such a resounding thud that it made Joe's singing and retarded impressions seem like top-shelf entertainment.

After years of listening to these clips on TH-cam, I genuinely like Scorch and Joe Piscopo on some level. There's a charm that exists under their lack of self awareness. Todd, however, has no redeeming qualities. He's easily the most hate-able entertainer they roasted on O and A.
Todd was an alright personality for WWF back in the day. I personally cant stand Piscopo, what a complete schlocky hack.

Is it just me or would Opie definitely in an alternative dimension where he didn't meet Anthony be the dream team of horrendous with Todd?
Todd's downfall was that he thought he could compete with Z100 and Elvis Duran by copying exactly what he was doing i.e making it a morning zoo type show. Problem is, Elvis has not only been doing this for years, he's also syndicated nationally so Todd thought if could be as local as possible he could win over the NYC market. He made a huge misjudgement with this, in that Scott was a legend and many soccer moms liked him and Todd just came off as a douche who gave Scott nothing. He also probably didn't realize a lot of people hated him for this.
Now Scott is still on the radio and Todd is forced to make a pay subscription so you can hear his shitty phone scams.
And hiding out in Texas! Supposedly, him and his wife split.

The o and A video on TH-cam about Todd’s interview with that Radio Trade magazine is mind blowing in its hubris. Instead of answering questions like a normal person who might want to pique the interest of the readers and convert that into listeners, all of his answers are dripping with absolutely phony swagger and the attitude of “I’m changing the rules and making history with this new show. Now that I’m not carrying around that old guy that basically brought me up into a career, I’m going to change the game of radio.” It’s infuriating how utterly stupid he sounds, and I live thinking about how, after this first episode aired, he probably went home, put on the tape to listen to so that he could savor how awesome his creation sounded, and upon hearing it went “oh god. This fucking sucks😂” two years later he’s on the final broadcast of PLJ before they change format, literally weeping at how his crappy show and his unearned hubris were the cause of the station being ruined😂 Imagine how much he cringes knowing these embarrassing phony prank calls are still out there being picked apart by o and a and Jim 😂😂

Again, Todd has a vision of what radio USED to be - where the DJs were the center of the universe and it was "vital" that they were out there in the community. Howard Stern and O&A completely blasted that theory to smithereens. Especially in this age of digital and on-demand. There's no need to keep your radio tuned to on station in the hope that just MAYBE you'll hear your favorite song. Dial it up on Spotify or order it on iTunes and have it within milliseconds. It's really funny that Todd wanted to "revolutionize" radio by going back to what the medium hadn't been in decades.

Listening to this in retrospect and knowing that this show was dead on arrival, you can almost hear Todd's hopes and dreams going up in smoke the longer it drags on. His fate was sealed by the time we get around to that Alec Baldwin shit.
Opie is the perfect mark, every time they listen to a phone scam, he needs it explained.
I feel bad for the young co-hosts who were just trying to get started in the business. The show might have worked if it had been reformatted without the fake phone scams, terrible jingles and without Todd. A show about millennial struggles with actual millennial personalities might have been gotten the ratings up.

I like how meatballs did that interview probably hoping to win over Opie & Jim and get a job at Sirius. But instead got a trashing, got called 'nana meatballs' by Yimmy and basically ruined his chances of getting re hired in radio because he trashed his old boss.

After listening to Erock’s interview with “Meatballs” a while ago, I feel horrible for the poor guy. He was genuinely excited to get what he thought was his dream job in radio, only to get shafted by Pettengill and made into a laughingstock for a show that crashed and burned in under a year.
The only upside is that Todd is now wallowing away in Nowhere, TX while Scott is still doing radio and TV.
Rich (Meatballs) is doing fine too. He's got a show. Haven't heard it but he was in the comments of another one of these uploads and seemed happy now.

Dear God, I freaking hate Todd Pettengill. How he's still on the air in New York is beyond me. The problem with Pettengill is that he wants radio to be what it was in the '70s and '80s - where the DJs were local celebrities and people had no choice but to listen to them. Now, there are a lot of other options - SiriusXM, Pandora, Spotify, iTunes, etc. Nobody cares anymore about knowing the names of the local schools or being out in the community. Pettengill wants radio to be what it was thirty and forty years ago. And instead of adapting and evolving, he's staying in the past. He'd rather be right than be successful.
