For real. What we have here is basically a super intense sparring match that got a bit out of hand. But that's what Dragonball's are for right?? LOL This was the most wholesome video they've ever done I think and truly managed to capture the pure essence of both these titans of power in fiction. Also, interestingly enough, Goku and Superman are the only characters in DeathBattle that have ONLY fought each other. 3 times as well. Other characters have fought multiple times, but never against the same character, and I think this also speaks to their respect and knowledge of the two because when you break down the premise behind both of them, they don't really belong in VS matches like these. Superman vs blank is always going to be Superman. Goku vs blank is always going to be Goku... except for Superman, and even then it's only the MAIN Superman. Throughout this fight it's amazing to see that Goku knows Superman is holding back the whole time, and he's telling him to keep pushing harder, to give him more of a challenge. That's all Goku wants is to face the best and find some way to beat them. I truly think that these two would be the best of friends and if they actually were to team up, enemies and villians the multiverse over would NEVER stand a chance again. I loved how Goku managed to push him to what you might call his limit and when he flew to space and began absorbing the solar energy from all those stars, Goku literally says "Finally" and he's SO EXCITED about this. Goku gives Superman the opportunity to really cut loose and spread his wings and explore his own power, because he has to always be so cognizant of that. In my own opinion I think they should've saved this fight for their final DeathBattle video before they discontinued the series and moved on to something else. This could've sent them off on such a high note with them doing their best to try and really solve this debate once and for all, but we all know that will never happen. Happy New Year everyone and may the coming year bring you closer to your goals and whether your Team Goku, or Team Superman, both of them will always serve to inspire us to break the bonds of infinity and go even further beyond.
"A world made if cardboard" is one of his most popular lines from the extremely popular animated series "Justice League: Unlimited". In context hes telling Darkseid how he always has to watch out for his own strength in a world full of cardboard, or else he may end up breaking something or someone.

Regardless of how you feel about the outcome, you cannot tell me that the people at Death Battle didn't bring their A-GAME when crafting this fight. The animation, the choreography, the music, the voice-acting, the dialogue; I don't see how the season finale can possibly top this.
17:50 It's a reference to a speech Superman says to Darkseid in the Justice League show. Quote: "That man won't quit as long as he can still draw a breath. None of my teammates will. Me? I've got a different problem. I feel like I live in a world made of cardboard, always taking constant care not to break something, to break someone. Never allowing myself to lose control even for a moment, or someone could die. But you can take it, can't you, big man? What we have here is a rare opportunity for me to cut loose and show you just how powerful I really am." Basically one of Superman's greatest struggle (perfectly portrayed in his latest cartoon by the way "My adventures with Superman") is the sheer fragility of our world compared to his overwhelming power, hence why he said this line "seemingly" out of nowhere right now.
People that don't read DC comics, just don't know how powerful superman really is. When Goku do his UI form, goku reach bases of angel form. Superman reached god when he absorb stars. Superman is limitless, means that superman will just be stronger than anyone no matter how strong you are.
@@rain_in_nightcityhe is not limitless but even Superman having limits he can still beat goku that guy that said he’s limitless is not a real & true fan of Superman’s character at all simple as that and he calls himself a fan of his character ya right

You can see in the teaser for Galactus vs Unicron that its the most requested episode theyve ever had, so following up Goku vs Superman with it makes a lot of sense
When superman said "a world made of cardboard" it meant that he usually holds back because he doesn't want to destroy what's precious to him. In this case knowing that they could wish everything back means they both could enjoy going all out for once.
this death battle is what the 2nd death battle was meant to be everything about this was incredible the animation, the music, the battle it was just great but arguably the best thing was how they gave respect to both characters, this is exactly how Goku and Superman would be if they met, there wasn't any bad blood or ill feelings between them, there weren't doing this because they hated eachother, but were simply testing there skills and there clearly liked and had alot of respect for the other while it is a bit sad to see goku lose again i didn't really feel bad on the contrary i felt happy the 2 of them were clearly having fun and that ending was so wholesome i couldn't help but have a smile on my face to me this was one of the best battles they've done and regardless of whos stronger both of them are champions as far as i'm concerned
You gotta understand sup’s perspective tho. There’s a weird alien who kinda just fights and destroys shit all around the universe. That’s a huge problem, and the guy has yet to fully understand that you can simply wish back the whole universe using the dragon balls. So he ain’t gonna risk having fun and letting this “menace” do as he wants. So he goes for the kill in the last 2 battles. Now that he can put his mind at ease knowing no actual harm will befall the universe bcs the dragon balls exist, he can actually let loose for once
This one was easily, the best Goku versus Superman fight they ever did. The animation was great, their interactions, and the ending were so wholesome. Their analysis of both characters were great and the fact that they never brought up once about the whole “Goku will always have limits while Superman maximum potential is limitless” it’s probably the best part. No doubt people are still going to argue about this, but I think this one will be a lot better received than the last two
The whole "Cardboard" is actually a reference to the Justice League episode where Superman's made a "Living in a world made of cardboard" speech before getting serious on Darkseid.
"World made of cardboard" is something Superman said about why he holds back all the time, because he knows that him not holding back would result in someone dying or worlds being destroyed. So when Goku told Superman to stop holding back, he kept holding back until he destroyed the moon and Goku said they could just wish away all the damage they do...Superman then realized that even if the world would shatter to his power unleashed, he could go all out finally, thanks to the dragon balls. They also didn't say that in other people's fights, Goku might win...they simply quantified why who wins doesn't truly matter because at the end of the day, the fans all win.
A concept even Promoters in Combat Sports fail to understand. Goku's the kinda guy who would fight Superman because he while he knows he can't beat him, that's never been the point for Goku. In a way, Goku is the Boros to Superman's Saitama.
This was a really good battle and I can accept the results, I been accept the results. I’m cringing to think of how many people still think the results are wrong. Like this if you think this debate will never end.
I hate superman as a character, but. I knew he would obviously would win against Goku, I mean like dude superman is just ridiculously over powered. Even if Goku had MUI ultra super Saiyan 46 or something he won't win. Just to OP
I loved the ending and love both of these characters. Superman inspires hope and that’s the point of his story. He is there to overcome anything no matter how ridiculous it is. Also, we wouldn’t have all of the heroes both marvel and DC without him.
The first one was as it was, regular death battle fight but with some hype due to history of people wanting to see the characters duke it out. the second had some malice because the fan response was so negative, even people giving the crew death threats and someone even punching chad (Boomstick) at some meet and greet, that death battle was more so the crew saying “F you this is the result” Here it’s been a long time, things have grown, things are not as angry anymore. This was a redo fight for the fans and even themselves with how long death battle has been going on, a treat for everyone, even if the fight result is the same.

No, THIS is the 3rd one, technically, but y'all _(anyone in general)_ most likely haven't read Ben's (aka Wiz) fully detailed _(and a tiny bit heartfelt)_ reasoning and motivations behind doing this fight again, but basically this is a *REBOOT* rather than a sequel to the original Goku vs Superman. ☺️👌
Technically Ben said that to not think of it as a part 3 he said it’s a reboot and remake of the 2nd fight because Ben and the death battle crew hated goku vs Superman 2 that’s why they did it so in a way this is what goku vs Superman 2 should have been in the eyes of the death battle crew
"World made of cardboard" is a reference to Justice Leavue Unlimited. Superman was explaining to Darkseid that he feels like he "lives in a world made of cardboard, always taking constant care not to break something, to break someone. Never allowing myself to lose control or someone could die." Righr before he finally guves Darkseid everything he has and lays him out.
This is one of few times Superman didnt have to hold back and really fight. That is really the reason he enjoyed fighting Goku. And Goku saw this the opportunity to fight someone stronger than him so Goku can keep learning and get stronger himself.

With the whole cardboard thing he said. It’s a reference to the justice league unlimited when he fought Darkseid. He felt like he lived in a world made of cardboard and he constantly has to hold back.
The world made of cardboard thing is a famous line Superman said about how he is literally ALWAYS has to be careful to hold back cause he’s so strong powerful he could easily destroy everything if he’s not careful like he’s walking in a world so easy to break anything everything might as well be cardboard.
This battle is very, very good! This is the third time that Superman and Goku fought. And 3 times Superman wins. And I'll say I think this is my favorite death battle! Since Superman is my favorite character and I know what he can do but I also know Goku as well. And I just love Superman for who he is and what he represents. A guy who brings hope and positivity and is able to help people so much for who he is! And I also like the these two are more in character Since goku is just having a good time and just trying to do his best trying to fight Superman but Superman he says that the world is made of cardboard and that he is holding back and he is being very considerate of his powers and trying not to hurt or harm anyone or anything. It just really adds more of a great touch to both of them when it comes to their characters and who they are as people. And honestly I'm happy that Goku can put up a more better fight than the last two with more things do and new powers. But I knew that Superman would win this fight. Since he has been in the comics more longer and has more powers and more stories and new powers and abilities and things we don't even know. So the WINNER has to be Superman. SO W FOR SUPERMAN 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩!!!!!

If you guys didn't know...the "world made of cardboard" line is a reference to JLU's finale, where Superman finally stops holding back against Darkseid.
Superman has Goku beat in every possible area, except maybe skill. Even then, Superman has way more experience and more impressive feats overall. We saw Goku get knocked out by a chop to the neck, which can never happen to Superman. Also, the thing that Goku fans conveniently forget is, Goku needed help to attain most of his victories, he needed a team, and the whole world during the Kid Buu saga. Superman has been and always will be as strong as he needs to be. Goku doesn't have anything powerful enough to defeat Superman. If you know about Superman, from actually reading his comics, you know how hacked his character is. Now, Superman has been defeated before in his own universe...many times, but it's always circumstantial and the character is holding back immensely. Take a look at Goku vs Jiren, even in that situation Goku needed Vegeta's energy in order to keep fighting. To top that off Goku never defeated Beerus, who wasn't even using his full power. While i like both characters, Superman is just too much for someone like Goku. Anything Goku can do for the most part Superman can do it a million times more, on top of strength that has scared the strongest beings in his own universe. Besides, we all know that Goku is basically the Superman of Anime, but nowhere near as powerful, because Goku has many limits, as to where Superman is always about not only going beyond them, but never reaching peak power...because he doesn't have to. No matter how many times Goku changes his hair color, goes through training, he will never be able to defeat the Man of Steel. Before I leave you with this to digest, let's look at some other factors - Goku didn't defeat Raditz, that was Piccolo (using Special Beam Canon), Goku didn't defeat Vegeta on his own during the Saiyan Saga, his friends had to interfere for Goku to get the win, Goku quit against Cell, because at the moment in time Gohan was stronger than Goku, (Gohan was actually intended to be stronger than Goku, act as his replacement, but he never got to the level of popularity as Goku, so that didn't happen), even when Goku fought Frieza initially, if his friends didn't help, he would have lost to Frieza then, way before going Super Saiyan. Even Whis stated in Dragon Ball Super, Vegeta would be stronger than Goku, if he simply stopped being so angry and learned to focus more. Basically, Vegeta was holding himself back based on his mindset. Most of the time, the anime character that everyone worships didn't win 90% of his fights on his own. Superman doesn't match reality, defies physics in his sleep. Most humans know nothing about Superman, because their info is limited to the movies they watch. For those of us who actually read Superman comics, we know how hacked Superman is. Bare in mind, many of the individuals who debate this, don't actually know about the Superman character, and blatantly choose to ignore how Goku came across his victories. Death Battle covered this three times, but humans who don't truly know the characters, will act like Goku is supposed to win. However, I'm glad there are millions of humans who actually know the outcome of such a confrontation. Superman not holding back will win every time. NOTE: Anyone who says Superman is PERFECT, has never read a superman comic in their life, and those humans don't understand what the word perfect means. Humans usually have something goofy to say, when they don't have anything of worth to say. Superman makes tons of mistakes, because he was raised by humans, the best humans, but humans none the less. He has emotions and feels just as much as any human. Just because Superman can do many things, has many crazy feats, doesn't mean the character is perfect. Ignore any silly human that tries to use the whole "Superman is perfect" in a discussion. TERRANCE OUT

Goku embodies the true instinct of a Saiyan, continue to challenge their limits and surpassing them and growing more powerful

Quote:
"That man won't quit as long as he can still draw a breath. None of my teammates will. Me? I've got a different problem. I feel like I live in a world made of cardboard, always taking constant care not to break something, to break someone. Never allowing myself to lose control even for a moment, or someone could die. But you can take it, can't you, big man? What we have here is a rare opportunity for me to cut loose and show you just how powerful I really am."
Basically one of Superman's greatest struggle (perfectly portrayed in his latest cartoon by the way "My adventures with Superman") is the sheer fragility of our world compared to his overwhelming power, hence why he said this line "seemingly" out of nowhere right now.
People that don't read DC comics, just don't know how powerful superman really is. When Goku do his UI form, goku reach bases of angel form. Superman reached god when he absorb stars. Superman is limitless, means that superman will just be stronger than anyone no matter how strong you are.
Finally someone that actually reads comics
@@rain_in_nightcityhe is not limitless but even Superman having limits he can still beat goku that guy that said he’s limitless is not a real & true fan of Superman’s character at all simple as that and he calls himself a fan of his character ya right
Exactly. That's coming from a comic book veteran myself
"World made of cardboard" was from animated tv show show woth superman where at one point he was fighting darkseid and started complaining how he lives in a world made of wet cardboard (in his eyes) and he always has to be careful, but also realizing that darkseid can take his full power hits
We all knew Superman was winning they just wanted to show off a talented animation team
You can see in the teaser for Galactus vs Unicron that its the most requested episode theyve ever had, so following up Goku vs Superman with it makes a lot of sense
This ending is probably the most in character ending possible
Fun fact: the VA of Goku is who voiced Angel Dust (Hazbin Hotel), N (Murder Drones), and Jax (Digtal Circus)
I'm shocked Dwayne n Jazz didn't comment about the music. The music for this battle was amazing.
Like this if you think this debate will never end.
i will always enjoy a good superman vs goku fight no matter who wins ngl
It would've been a better fight if they also took universal blue into account
But then again, this fight was hype still
I hate superman as a character, but. I knew he would obviously would win against Goku, I mean like dude superman is just ridiculously over powered. Even if Goku had MUI ultra super Saiyan 46 or something he won't win. Just to OP
@@YayaAniNbekI do not like Goku as a character. I love Superman, especially as a character.
I loved the ending and love both of these characters. Superman inspires hope and that’s the point of his story. He is there to overcome anything no matter how ridiculous it is. Also, we wouldn’t have all of the heroes both marvel and DC without him.
I like this version of them being friends waaaay better than the last ones
The first one was as it was, regular death battle fight but with some hype due to history of people wanting to see the characters duke it out. the second had some malice because the fan response was so negative, even people giving the crew death threats and someone even punching chad (Boomstick) at some meet and greet, that death battle was more so the crew saying “F you this is the result”
Here it’s been a long time, things have grown, things are not as angry anymore. This was a redo fight for the fans and even themselves with how long death battle has been going on, a treat for everyone, even if the fight result is the same.
The epic conclusion to the trilogy. Gotta be honest, I really expected Goku to win, but I can't be mad at such a wholesome ending.

Where can we find Ben's reasoning? I take it it's within that premium video where they talk about this? Would love to read it.
And if you think about it kinda makes sense to reboot it because of the second one having no reaserch till the end of the second fight
I think Goku vs. Superman 2023 is the best rematch the show has ever done with Link vs. Cloud 2021 being the second best.
Dwayne’s face when he heard the Dragon Ball fan come out of Jazz at 17:03 is killing me
This is one of few times Superman didnt have to hold back and really fight. That is really the reason he enjoyed fighting Goku. And Goku saw this the opportunity to fight someone stronger than him so Goku can keep learning and get stronger himself.
Someone needs to start counting Jazmine every time she says “ mhmm hmmm “ 😂😂
17:48 “A world made of cardboard” was a reference to when Superman fought dark side in justice league unlimited and made a speech about finally not having to hold back ^^
Jazz *HAS* to see the World Made of Cardboard speech.
I’m more surprised how good the animation was here ngl
So the easiest way to describe Unicron is he’s the Galactus of the transformers franchise, he eats planets, has heralds
I feel like unicron will win. He devours multiverses, but i do think Galactus does stand a chance in his strongest.
They both planet size beings. So epic. Great choice for a season finale
“That’s our boy!”
Reminder that Jazz never even watched DBZ. 🤣
Such a great and intense battle this was 😄 also it seems hard to believe that RT got Michael Kovach to voice Goku in this battle. As he done some amazing voicing as Angel Dust from Hazbin Hotel, N from Murder Drone, Rocky from Lackadaisy and many more. There is no doubt he won’t give up his talent in voicing out there and keep up being amazing.
Also speaking of Hazbin Hotel, are you two going to be watching the series once it drops on January 19? While Helluva boss is on a break till February.
Crazy how the two actual combatants are less toxic than the fanbase surrounding them
The Fight and Animation is Great with a Adrenaline Rush Music that fits both Respected Franchise, not only does this Rematch is is Better than the Previous Ones but the winner doesn’t outshine the Loser if anything like these Icons that revolutionize Media are Winners in our Hearts and in the end this Fight has Passion and Heart as a Love Letter to us Fans as for the Finale I have no idea who will Win in this Battle of Planet Eaters.

17:46 That's what I call. I feel good fight. Thank you for reacting

17:48 Superman once said he feels like he lives in a world made of cardboard. That's why he holds back, afraid to break someone or something. He said "World made of cardboard" after Goku said they can wish everything back to normal, implying that he no longer has to feel sorry and hold back if every thing can be wished back, the nothing is truly distroyed hence he no longer viewed the world as a cardboard and could go all out finally.
