What did I love in 2023? This channel and all the great stories, reviews, jokes, and race reports. Looking forward to 2024 and beyond. Great job out there, Ben.
I liked the particle board garage walls. It's hard to describe why, but it probably made your content relatable to the everyday, middle class cyclist like myself. That being said, it'll be cool to see the finished garage. Saw a sneak peek on Strava. Cheers!
HI ben as always really like your break downs of all the different bikes and equipment that you use, thinking of getting back to gravel riding did try it with for a season or two what I used the gravel bike for mainly is the start of the season when the roads are not great up here in Quebec Canada ,i had a Devinci Hatchet while not a top of the line bike it did the job got a couple of KOM,s on gravel still have them , sold the bike 2020 with my fat bike the biggest trouble i found was the bottom brackets needed replacing the most , at 65 I am mainly a roadie with a specialized Tarmac , with the reviews you do is helping to think what I might buy i am leaning to the giant revolt , however gravel is starting to look like a good alternative plenty of roads with climbs not far from me , Anyway wish you a safe and fun 2024
Thanks Ben - your videos have definitely influenced my purchasing choices in the past and you’ve never steered me wrong. Especially love the DynaPlug Racer, the Specialized Power with Mirror and the G-One RS’s. Solid choices for even those of us who are a lot further from the front of the pack than you are!
Thanks Ben, informative as always! I use the Garmin 530 Edge mounted via a Garmin bar mount. Recently I purchased a front flashing light by Ravemen FR160, the cool surprise for me was the Ravemen mounts to the bottom of the Garmin bar mount. So 530 on top with a similar sized flashing light underneath-all on the same Garmin bar mount. This time of year (December-January) I ride early mornings and often late afternoons, hence the reason for flashing lights front and back. I rotate my riding between my Gravel, a Roady and a FatTire-all have the same Garmin mounts on the handle bar. Was a treat to discover how the Ravemen FR160 paired up! Ride hard-Live long!!
You mentioned your dyna plug experience when using a saddle bag. I use an Apidura race top bag with the magnetic latch, you wont find any faster way to access important gear on the fly and ive never lost a thing. The magnetic latch pops straight back and is totally secure (no zips make it childs play). Happy holidays 🍻
I purchased a Feedback Sprint repair stand this year, to avoid clamping carbon fiber seat posts and tubes, and it's awesome. I highly recommend! Your channel is awesome, keep up the good work.
I have bent several derailleur hangers taking photos as you do in our outro video. You'd think I would learn, but I simply straighten the hanger and move on with my life to do it again another day
I love my Fizik Terra Atlas gravel shoes, and my Bell XR Spherical helmet I picked up this year. Thanks for all the good suggestions and great advice, have a Merry Christmas, Ben!
nice video Ben, I agree 100% with the G-One RS’s I have 250kms riding on a pair of 700x45 of those tires and they are fast I mean real fast and grippy on corners! Happy to put on my 40 deep hunt wheels. Saddle always is a personal matter, I used the Argos but never feel fine on it, move back to the Selle Italia SLR Boost 143 and won't change my mind about it ! happy holidays!
Ok this is weird, you spookily pretty much go for all the exact same gear as me! I love Specialized/S-Works shoes and have both the Recon and the Torch, have the Fizik Argo 3D saddle and really rate it, normally use Castelli pretty much throughout and have just bought the same puffy gilet, use stages power meter, Wahoo Bolt, have both the Schwalbe G-One RS and Pathfinder pro tyres and like both, and I plug them with a Dynaplug Racer! It’s quite nice to have so many of my choices validated by someone like yourself 😂
Thank you and congratulations on creating such a valuable, informative and entertaining resource for all us cyclists. I was a fan when you were working for others, even bigger fan now that you’re on your own. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Great content and I’m delighted you are being supported by quality clothing and equipment suppliers. In particular, I love my Castelli kit. Sometime brands trade on just that, but take the labels off this and the quality is still there. Castelli converts know but ahem… don’t put on any weight. Italian men are clearly tiny.
Outstanding as per usual. I'm ordering the pathfinders 38mm. Curious to see how they feel on Zipp 353's. I did want to take a sec and sincerely thank you for the brilliant content all year long. I learned a lot. Best wishes for a wonderful holiday and to an even more brilliant new year. You are definitely onto something.
Sidi dominator shoes. They’ve been the best fit for me for years. Love the Specialized power saddle. I don’t race or train. I just ride so I don’t think a power meter would be that useful for me. I “enjoy the ride” without it. 😂. My favorite tire is the Gravel King SS in 35mm. Fast on pavement and dry hard pack gravel. I don’t ride in the rain or mud. Wahoo element bolt all day. I’ve used Garmin in the past and found them a bit buggy. I’m sure they’re improved now but I’m sticking with what I have. My bibs are from black bibs. Very reasonably priced and good quality. My bike is a Sage Titanium Barlow with GRX one by. Wheels are Roval Terra CL. Great wheels that I just got on sale. Bars, Roval Terra. They have the shortest drop and reach of anything I could find on the market. Stem in Thomson. Arguably the strongest stem on the market. It’s machined from one piece of aluminum billet. No welds. The seat post is a Thomson titanium. That was a bit of a splurge. Bar tape, bottle cages, pump and seat pack are Silca. Their products are pricey but they’ve some of the best thought out and engineered kit on the market. I just bought their digital floor pump on sale. It’s great. That’s my favorite pieces of kit.
Loved your videos this year, thank you. Totally agree about Shimano shoes great shoes. I have been putting off buying a dynaplug, but it’s def my next purchase.
Thanks for all the great content! Been loving your channel and looking forward to seeing you continue in 2024. I’m very excited to switch to your favorite Schwalbes next. I thought about going all out with the fat 45s, then remembered I ride mostly on the road and should therefore probably go with the skinny 35s, and ultimately settled on the 40s for versatility. The Bontrager GR-1 Team Issue set that came stock on my Checkpoint SL 5 is fine, but maybe a bit noisy, and nowhere near as cool looking in all black as the tan sidewall G-One RS set will be. 😎 And obviously for a mere mortal like me that’s probably the most important part.
I bought the RX8's online and they are just a little too small and now have to ebay. like the lightweight feel of the shimano's but the Spec Recon's fit my feet better.. Have a happy Martian Acres Christmas!!!
Bummer. It's a Burque Christmas for us, but will be back in the Acres loaded with biscochitos for my New Year's Day ride. Come join us! vafels.com/pages/supertraining-x-vafels-flatirons-subaru
I agree with some of the others. Garages and sheds don’t need drywall to improve the content but I assume you added some insulation first and it was more about keeping warm during the shoots this winter. 😁
I have enjoyed your videos Ben. I also am a fan of Shimano shoes, Dynaplugs. I have had pleasant results with the Schwalbe Allround and the G-One R was great at Rule Of 3. Come out to NC to enjoy some great gravel that Western North Carolina has!
Love your videos. Really agree with your specialized saddle choice. Did you ever consider selling "The Ride" jersey in a way to support your channel? I would buy one if it helps you to keep making videos. I find them very informative but more importantly entertaining.
Hi Ben thanks for a consistently great show throughout the year , just wondered if you have tried the S Works Pathfinders those and the Tufo Thundero have been my go to tyres this year I like the look of those Shwalbe tyres but fear they are a little to delicate
Cheers, Alan. Thanks for the support. I have tried a few pairs of the S-Works Pathfinders - love the feel and they are probably on par with the RS for durability. The Pro models are heavier but sturdier. Never tried the Thunderos.
Great video.. like always ;-) Thoughts in Pedals for use on road/gravel combo? I've got Favero Assiomas on my Allied Echo which are sweet on the road but clipping back in on the trail is a dog... especially for the person behind me... and my self esteem.
Dynaplug so expensive, as much as a new tyre here in the UK. Very tempting though as fixing a flat out on the trail is worth paying for, maybe just not that much?
What do you use for chain lube for the long gravel events? I see a lot of pros adding lube during the race. For my road bikes I have waxed chains, but that seems like something that would be impractical for long gravel events since I need to let the wax lube refresher set up for hours
Feedback stands are fantastic till you get to an aero seatpost. Then it falls flat. Had to buy a Hirobell adaptor for my Feedback stand to work on bikes with aero seatposts
Nice video! Thanks! Ok, what’s your go to bike in 2023? You get a lot of test bikes to try… but what’s your favorite when you get to ride what ever you want?

Those have all gone back, though, so I'm not riding any of them at the moment. th-cam.com/video/e4wGjeNyadY/w-d-xo.html I picked the Revolt as my #1 just because that was the one I'd grab when I wasn't actively testing something. Thought it was a Brit thing to add an "H" and say "shram" instead of Sram*. Even more fascinated that an industry veteran like BD who must have met all three founders of Sram - S-cott King, Stan R-ay Day und S-am Patterson - whose names make up the company's name on multiple occasions, still pronounces it that weirdly.
@@TheRidewithBenDelaney No crashes, no rubbing, no hard tightening and sprinting, just normal riding. The first pair got replaced under warranty but the second pair is even worse. The holes are where the upper material meets the carbon sole. Maybe the carbon has a sharp edge and cuts the upper. That is a Feedback Sports stand, where each arm is separately height adjustable so it works with any bike.

40

I know you have mentioned it, but cannot find the video. What are the large bottles that you carry? How many oz, and will they fit in a standard cage?
Those are Elite Fly bottles. They come in 550, 750 and 950ml. And yes, they fit in normal cages. Just want to make sure your cages are snug.
also love the Aria... but the sides are. too fragile. Mine ripped in no time :(

Welcome! Thanks for giving my channel a peek.
Have you tried the s works pathfinder vs pathfinder pros? Wondering if I should be riding the non s works for race scenarios.
Yep. S-Works is just a little lighter with less rolling resistance and - I believe - not quite as puncture proof.
How of interest, why do you prefer the 800’s garmin unit rather than the 500’s?
MALAYSIA!
What is that steel forked beauty to your left?
