Have to disagree with many of your comments on the backing track, have been a musician nearly 60 years and believe me i listen, it is light on bass but serves to emphasise her beautiful tone. This version features in the movie 'on a wing and a prayer' it is stunning and incredible for a person of her age. Definite 5.

Now at age 19, Lucy is in a class of her own, out singing even the greats with her covers of some of the most challenging songs ever written. I hope you continue to feature Lucy. She is a powerful force that deserves all the recognition she gets. Lucy is such a very special and exceptional young women. She is beyond just talented. Lucy makes every song she sings into a masterpiece. She feels every word she sings.
Thanks for the interesting reaction and well done Luna for showing photos of Lucy Thomas. I already know what a wonderful singer Lucy is, but nice to hear your professional opinion. Yes Lucy has sung duets with her sister Martha, but this is the first time I’ve see you react to Lucy on TH-cam. I watched Lucy sing Hallelujah and other songs live just with a basic mic setup last Tuesday during the intimate performance. No enhancements at all, and I’m assured no Auto-Tune was used in her recordings either. To be honest she doesn't need it.
@@lawrenceb5236 Hi Lawrence. It was last Tuesday evening at a castle ‘Knebworth House Barns’ near Luton (London). Lucy has the official public concert in Manchester in March. There are still a few seats so if you want to come I’ll assist.
@@lawrenceb5236 I wanted to concentrate on Lucy’s singing and watch all, but filming was forbidden. It was more of a private performance for charity fund raising. However Lucy’s mother Louise did record Lucy’s performance, and a couple of clips are on Facebook. Lucy was supporting the mega star Kim Wilde. Legendary Kim being probably my favourite all-time female singer. So for Lucy to share the stage with Kim is a big tick on Lucy’s CV. A Texan billionaire, then last month Sir Cliff Richards, and now Kim Wilde, and me. 😂 Lucy is rubbing shoulders at the very top. There are a few from the US and Canada flying in for Lucy’s Tuesday 5th March concert. Remaining tickets £37 each. You definitely will be surprised how she sounds now, plus Live!! She sings "Hallelujah" as an encore after singing 17 songs. 😊❤
Whenever I see and hear Lucy Thomas Tolkiens Elven Princess Luthien Tunuviel from thr " Silmarillion" comes into my mind. Whenever Hollywood will make a movie of this stuff Lucy Thomas with her great beauty (!) and her voice ( Luthien Tinuviels means "Nightingale" and her voice has a magical power in Tolkiens Novel) would be the ideal Luthien Tinuviel.
“Hallelujah” was written by the poet/songwriter Leonard Cohen. It may sound like a religious song, but it's about giving in to worldly lust and desire, at great cost. He uses biblical references to King David and Samson, as well as one of the Hebrew words for praising God, “Hallelujah.” Cohen also says in the song, “I don't know if there is a God above.” It is a great song regardless, but many people think it's religious when it isn't.
I've been a Cohen fan since the mid 1970's and I would never presume to state what he did or didn't mean in his lyrics. He was very complicated man. A Candian Jew who also drew inspiration from Christian writings. What I will do is correct your misquoting of the lyrics. It's "Maybe there's a God above," NOT "I don't know if there is a God above."
Yeh you jumped the gun a bit on saying she was taking it easy. She does it all, but of course with age she will learn to let go a bit from the technicalities, which she is so brilliant at.
If you like this one your more then likely will also love other Lucy's covers like: The Greatest Love of All & At Last (Etta James - Cover). These covers blew me away! Frankly everything Lucy touches turns to gold i.m.h.o. and she still is getting better & better every time she delivers a new (cover) song. And you might also want to look in to the duets that she did with her sister Martha ; at first it was adorable and beautiful but her sister also got a lot better over the years. Those family voices harmonize beautifully together! Lucy has also 8 video's that where specially written for her upcoming staring role in the musical Rosie -> those songs are also very good! Lucy Thomas did also two fantastic duets together with a man Will Callan, these songs are: "Above the Clouds" and "Can I Have This Dance" And lets not forget the song that the sisters Lucy & Martha sang together with their mother Louise Thomas as a special gift to Celebrate Mother's Day. PS: It has to be said mother Louise Thomas also has a beautiful voice!

I am not a singer but a music lover for over 65 years. I find your critiques of singers to be usually good and sometimes very insightful. Advice is stick to that. Your comments on the technical aspect of the sound quality shows that is not your area of expertise. In my view, and at age 78 I have heard many greats including those from the 1930s who were still singing when I came along, Lucy Thomas, along with Angelina Jordan and a couple of others currently, has the potential to become one of the all time greats.
lol, Lucy Thomas and Angelina Jordan do both have potential, I wasn’t saying they don’t. However, having worked in recording studios and produced my own work in my own studio, there’s no disputing that this particular produced cover just had a higher level of treble than needed for her voice. They fixed this in future recordings… thanks for your input though.
@@maggiereneemusicYes, there is disputing it and I, along with some others I know of, including at least one other reply on this post, do. And, Lucy and Angelina are already on the cusp of being classified as great. The huge level of natural talent they each possess is the enabler. Training simply helps them along. Few are in that place. There are many good singers, but only a few great ones.

Is there an artist, or rather their record label, that does not insist on using electronic pitch correction in video production these days? A little sad perhaps for someone of Lucy's ability, but a plain fact of life in today's music industry! Although absolutely not needed for Lucy's videos, no amount of electronic enhancement can turn a 'pig's ear' into a 'silk purse'. 😅
Yes, of course. Unfortunately, pretty much everyone does/almost has to these days. Everything on a track/in a performance is tuned to perfection… so when a vocal is not tuned to go with that, it sounds completely wrong. So yes, they do use pitch correction but that doesn’t mean you can’t love her. It just means it’s important to hear her live to see if she can sound in tune then as well! 😊👍🏼
