Hallelujah was the first song i heard Lucy sing, it just randomly popped up on you tube and never having heard of her and not being religous for some unknown reason clicked on it and WOWSER !!!!!! she grabbed my attention. as an old guy that grew up with good quality music the crap being pawned off as entertainment today left me cold decades ago but Lucy and Martha have restore hope people can still sing !!! I watched Hallelujah about 4 times then went down the rabbit hole and clicked on a new song and another and another and 4 hours later, exhausted stopped watching, but I was hooked, researched and ordered all three cd's she had out and ore ordered the fourth when announced and have throughly enjoyed the experience.

TH-cam sent a link for 'Hallelujah' by Lucy Thomas, who I never heard of. Clicked link and it changed me forever. No one will beat Lucy's version... ever. Pentatonix does still have great music too. Their recent release of 'The Prayer' is best I ever heard. I doubt it will ever be beat.. ever.

Yes, 16 here and utterly amazing. Been following her for over 3 years now. You should hear her at ages 10 & 14 covering Snow Patrol's "Run"! Mindblowing! She's released three CD's -- "Premiere," "Encore," and "Timeless." I have an autographed copy of "Timeless," which I've played to death in my car. This song is on it. She made all three CD's from ages 14 to 17. She has just turned 19 (if angels actually do have birthdays!). Lucy appeared on the UK's Kids Voice at 13 singing Moon River and made it to the semi finalist, was signed to a record deal at 14 and released her first CD shortly after by Cavendish Records, and she is working with Chris Broom co producing and starring in the soon to open Musical in west London ROSIE> She has released 5 original songs associated with the musical, they are BROKEN DREAMS, at 18 and at 15 STARLIGHT SUDDENLY, GENTLE BREEZE, All as dress rehearsals and a studio first original ONE DAY at 14 !!!! She has 8 songs recorded with her sister THE CLIMB, THE PRAYER, OH HOLY NIGHT, WHEN YOU BELIEVE, YOU RAISE ME UP AND when Martha was 10 ARMS OF THE ANGLE AND SAY SOMETHING.. Right there with you. I'm similar age, have heard a lot of music in my life and Lucy inspires chills and tears (and sometimes a deep gut reaction) on practically everything she does.

Well....... here we are 6 months later and he has not done another of Lucys songs !!!! Look at all the suggestions given, and IF we are to believe him that he liked what he herd why just a one song and done ??? Well we go look at what he has reacted to in the last year and we get our answer !!!! Lucy is too good for him !!!! Lucy’s cover of ‘Hallelujah’ is the most beautiful thing I have heard in my 73 years. More recently she did a cover of an iconic rock ballad, Aerosmith’s ‘I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing’, and she absolutely knocks it out the park.
There are many great singers on TH-cam, but a few of Lucy's covers are the only ones where I have used the taboo phrase; "better than the original". A good example is Lucy's version of "Somewhere - West Side Story". It's easily the best version of that song ever recorded.

Lucy is an angel on earth. So beautiful and a voice like no other. I could listen to her all day. Lucy also sings with her sister Martha. The prayer is beautiful.
There are a handful of great songs that were covered by talented people but couldn't convey the lifetime of regret, sorrow, or pleading mercy that take those songs to a special place. Even Cohen's old songs like Suzanne weren't as good until Leonard got older his voice deepened and he managed to express lament in his voice.
This ol'man heard many, many "Hallelujah's" over the decades. This wonderful young woman's version's the most exceptionally solemn, reverent & effortlessly voiced. Lucy has been singing for a long time and the maturity of her voice is truly mind blowing. Lucy has done over 50 covers and each one is a masterpiece. She is without doubt the most accomplished soulful singer that l have ever heard in my lifetime and I was privileged to attend her inaugural public concert in Manchester, England. l look forward to hearing more reviews from you about the enigmatic Miss Thomas in the future. That movie was actually the first time I'd ever heard that song, but in that movie, it's sung a little poorly - kind of pitchy - possibly on purpose to convey the uncomfortable position of being an hesitant ogre trying to court a pretty female (part of the movie plot). At any rate, I didn't care for the song- for a bad reason- only because it was being rather poorly sung in the movie soundtrack. Lucy appeared on the UK's Kids Voice at 13 singing Moon River and made it to the semi finalist, was signed to a record deal at 14 and released her first CD shortly after by Cavendish Records, and she is working with Chris Broom co producing and starring in the soon to open Musical in west London ROSIE> She has released 5 original songs associated with the musical, they are BROKEN DREAMS, at 18 and at 15 STARLIGHT SUDDENLY, GENTLE BREEZE, All as dress rehearsals and a studio first original ONE DAY at 14 !!!! Well....... here we are 6 months later and he has not done another of Lucys songs !!!! Look at all the suggestions given, and IF we are to believe him that he liked what he herd why just a one song and done ??? Well we go look at what he has reacted to in the last year and we get our answer !!!! Lucy is too good for him !!!! He seems to like the weird, wild crazy crap that has been pawned off as modern entertainment for decades !!! It seems these "entertainers' think they have to be grungy, wild, yelling screaming wild hair and make up and they call that entertainment !!! Lucy’s cover of ‘Hallelujah’ is the most beautiful thing I have heard in my 73 years. More recently she did a cover of an iconic rock ballad, Aerosmith’s ‘I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing’, and she absolutely knocks it out the park.
There are many great singers on TH-cam, but a few of Lucy's covers are the only ones where I have used the taboo phrase; "better than the original". A good example is Lucy's version of "Somewhere - West Side Story". It's easily the best version of that song ever recorded.

Ken, you don't need to say anything about this piece; your body language along with facial reactions (eyes and smile) show what you are feeling. Lucy is an angel on earth. So beautiful and a voice like no other. I could listen to her all day. Lucy also sings with her sister Martha. The prayer is beautiful.
There are a handful of great songs that were covered by talented people but couldn't convey the lifetime of regret, sorrow, or pleading mercy that take those songs to a special place. Even Cohen's old songs like Suzanne weren't as good until Leonard got older his voice deepened and he managed to express lament in his voice.
This ol'man heard many, many "Hallelujah's" over the decades. This wonderful young woman's version's the most exceptionally solemn, reverent & effortlessly voiced. I still garnish a tear when I hear it by her. A note: K.D. Lang's..., the worst "yelling" of Hallelujah I've ever heard! An honorable mention though...? Checkout, Morgan James / PMJ's take on Aerosmith's "Dream On"...! Whoah..! Be very Surprised!

Lucy has been singing for a long time and the maturity of her voice is truly mind blowing. Lucy has done over 50 covers and each one is a masterpiece. Her voice, talent, dedication, and purity is second to none and she is also gorgeous. I think Lucy is in a league of her own. She is very special and beyond compare. There are literally thousands of covers of this classic song. Some as good as the Original, but most are not. Words and Notes are more than ink on paper. Leonard Cohen was afraid the meaning would get lost, and in many case he was right.
Times change and so does the interpretations of a classic song. In 2016, Pentatonix recomposed song and performed it A cappela complete with Hollywood style video and delivery style. It was an instant hit and really launched the group into stardom.
16 year old Lucy Thomas comes along, keeps the words, and totally recomposes the musical score. She performed with 1 mic, 1 camera, 1 take start to finish. Lucy doesn't need to rely on gimmicks, she used actual talent instead. Her performance was also an instant hit and launched her into stardom.

He mentions that this song was featured in (the animated movie) Shrek. That movie was actually the first time I'd ever heard that song, but in that movie, it's sung a little poorly - kind of pitchy - possibly on purpose to convey the uncomfortable position of being an hesitant ogre trying to court a pretty female (part of the movie plot). At any rate, I didn't care for the song- for a bad reason- only because it was being rather poorly sung in the movie soundtrack. I can thank Lucy Thomas for showing what a pretty song it really is, so now I *love* that song.
