LOST A WHEEL! Maiden of the FMS J-3 Piper Cub V4 by Fat Guy flies RC

- Well this was a very short maiden of my FMS J-3 Piper CUB V-4. However on my first landing I lost a wheel and that quickly ended the maiden of my FMS J-3 Piper Cub . Well I will take her home and fix her and then get you a better maiden without losing a wheel!

I half wonder if folks should just glue the gear components on to make it permeant. You really shouldn't mod these flying beer coolers and just leave it one piece. Big bird, fly's great.

yep ! there is a plastic tube (similar to fuel tubing; but hard plastic) that slides over the axle to hold the wheel on. The bad part is that they are loose, slide off the axle which lets the wheel slide off. You can rough sand the axle and glue on a piece of plastic tubing or try fuel tube. Another option is a different set of wheels (I used Dave Brown lite foams) . On the end of each axle is a slot for an 'E Clip', to secure the wheel... If you want to keep the stock Cub wheels and scale appearence you'll have to figure out the best way to affix the hollow tube to the axle to retain the wheel....all the best 👍 just not a good design...PS...mine fell off also...🤣

Nice flight and it is back on the ground safely without throwing the pilot through the windshield. JK, that is something that can happen anytime, maiden or after two dozen flights. Thanks for sharing.
