What a great video Gavin. I'm really looking forward to your coming projects with the touring and rally car builds. Tamiya certainly had some pleasant surprises in these categories with some of the kits coming fully stocked with superlative quality hop ups. Really enjoying where you're taking your work... a truely fun and awesome RC channel.
Regarding over tightened screws and damaged mounts, when refitting screws you should always slowly turn them in the opposite direction until you feel them go just past the starting point, then when you turn them in the correct tighten direction you will be using the original thread and not cutting a new one thus stripping out the inside of the mount
You could make a mold from the new body so you can DIY an actual replacement for the restoration project. Bit of work but could be a fun side project but once you have the tooling being able to copy bodies could sure come in handy.
hey mate, personally i dont feel like you can easily make a profit off this given the amount of replacement parts you're putting into it, however the series is highly enjoyable and maybe will give the channel a boost! keep it up, hope you do more of these as i'm really enjoying it!
Haha - triggers broom I’ve just been through the same with a boomerang 2 When the car is not too rare it’s a real balance of cost to replace vs just getting a replacement
pre heating the tapping screw with a cigarette/stovetop lighter is the only way to stop future cracking, it's the tension from the shrinking plastic that does the damage over time. cutting a thread with some very mild heat prevents that tension.

That was a Japanese market exclusive kit. That buggy body is for “dust cover” purposes. Im thinking on buying this same kit but not keep it as shelf queen. Wont be smart i guess.
Still quite a few hop up's avaliable for the DF-03ra been looking at a DF-03 Dark Impact and whenever I search for hop up for one I keep coming across ones for the ra version.

It's a looker that's for sure. The good news is we will be getting that body again soon from Tamiya. :)!! I will be getting one for my XV-02 chassis as soon as the kit drops.
The body of the df03 buggy is the dark impact body the one u didn't know were looking at one is to use underneath the road car body to stop the dirt getting in the chassis
Yes it comes with a lot of the DF03 Dark Impact which I had and modded to race then the club went from off-road indoors to touring car and so I gave my Dark Impact away to a school project as their school was broken into and their project RC kit was stolen, then hmm decided to do touring car and being a 5th scale off-road petrol guy I went to touring car 5th scale of course.
Did you get that turbo optima mid off of ebay last week if you did I was watching it and boy did you pay alot for it lol I had that car got mine in Japan early 90s probably 91 maybe been hoping it gets re released we had a front wheel drive class where I raced and would occasionally remove the rear dog bones and run it
So not showing my wife this so she dont get ideas from Rebecca haha. Also i hope your payn steve as well as feeding him he is always hungry when he returns home and costs me a fortune in food 🤦♂️
You're getting a bit mixed up with different types of Mitsubishi Evo. Evo I Evo II & Evo III have the same body, basically the same car the first 3 shared the body with a proton wira. Evo IV Evo V & Evo VI are basically the same car but are nothing like a 1, 2 or a 3 Evo VII Evo VIII & Evo IX again are basically the same car. Then there was a Evo X
