I wish I had taken electronics instead of auto mechanics in high school because this is all greek to me. I have been watching you videos (thank you) with the aim of solving my own PSU problem. My 4+4 CPU connectors read 0 volts, not 12. This EVGA 500w PSU was functioning fine but I installed a new motherboard and now I have 0 volts on the 4+4 connectors and the PC will not come on. I was sure to remove the power cable from the PSU and hold the PC power button down for a good 20 seconds to drain any residual from the old motherboard before making the motherboard switch, and I was sure to ground myself throughout the swap.

I think the two diodes and cap at 46min are to make the two transistors switch on at vb = (2xdiode + vbe) volts. Which is presumably near/at a cleaner part of the driving waveform.

I've seen numerous videos where LAB power supply with current limited to 2 or 3 amps is connected to heat the shorted component to find them, why not use same here to find the faulty shorted caps or other faulty shorted components?

Can't you just float the ground on the scope to check the power side of the Tx?
Or keep it connected to "Safety Ground" on the board and check it?
Is like to know more about this please.

Do you ever use any of these psu's in computers after you fix them or is this just instructional videos? Great video's anyway.
