    Peeqs look like something you’d buy in a 20 pack and hand out in goodie bags at a child’s birthday party.

    I am an optician so I don't mind calling myself an expert. I actually have a prototype of the reversible sunglasses.
    You may not have read the instructions properly , or you don't have the same one that I have . When you reverse them , the ends of the arms flay the wrong way. However, the ends of the arms are very bendable, and you are supposed to bend them with your fingers to curve in instead of curving out . On my prototype it's very easy to do.
    As for the lenses , if you notice, they are flat, unlike the others, which have a very distinct curve . Because the frame is reversible, the inventors don't have a choice but to use a flat lens.
    The problem with flat lenses is that the optics are not as sharp, but more importantly , because the lens is flat, you tend to get quite a bit of glare from any light source behind you.. The flatness of the lens acts like a mirror.
    Because the sunglasses are reversible, the inventors didn't really have much choice but to use a flat lens .

      Reversible sunglasses sounds cool, until you realize that reversible things are generally reversible for a reason, and there is no reason to want reversible sunglasses. Sunglasses are very function over form.

    Pro tip on the Hombres and the string issue. What I do with my REVOS crystal lense sunglasses. Because the lens are made with crystal so kinda heavy. I used those glasses attachment that goes around the ends of ear frame (yes I know these done have them), but the same principle applies. I'd let them dangle from my ears. They never dropped.snd when ready to put back on just slip them back on. Better than letting hang from neck as they don't get in way if hanging from ears. Won't have to take on and off from top of head.

    The Ombraz works pretty good for water sports, like paddling and kayaking and boating could even use it for snowshoeing also anything that requires you to wear any top helmet, the lack of hard side bars makes it a lot easier. Also the Ombraz you don't tilt it up, you loosen it up and put it down around the neck. Works exceptionally well actually. So next time don't try to remove it, just wear it around your neck. < not affiliated with Ombraz, just find it useful as a boater.

    • @punkypink83
      @punkypink83 ปีที่แล้ว

      also a boater n kayaker and my 1st thought was also to wear the ombraz around your neck like a pair of goggles.

    • @parker2627
      @parker2627 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I absolutely second the neck thing - I have prescription lenses with a strap because the frames are a bit loose on me, and I always keep them around my neck when driving so I can just reach down and out them on without having to take my hat off. It looks a little silly perhaps, but it’s way easier (and safer!) than trying to take a hat off and put glasses on one-handed while also trying to steer.

    I can't imagine those Peeq glasses having such an over engineered hinge and yet just forgetting the ear pieces entirely. I would assume either those ear pieces can be removed and swapped or are flexible and can be bent in the opposite direction. It doesn't redeem the fact that they are the ugliest and least useful, but there is no way that's not just a user error flaw.

  • @lkayh
    @lkayh ปีที่แล้ว +21

    The Ombraz isn’t going to be great for people who have (I’m sorry, James) hair. Your hair is going to get caught in the straps when you tighten. Plus as you move you’re going to get muffin hair. I like the way the Kore glasses block out the sides so you don’t get too much light (the whole point of sunglasses), altho that greatly reduces your peripheral vision. Reversible sunglasses? Not for me. The Kore would be my winner.

    • @mickm6309
      @mickm6309 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was thinking about people with longish hair who like to wear glasses under their hair. With normal glasses you can push the arms under your hair onto your ears, the Ombraz you would need to lift your hair up over the strap. (hope I am explaining myself here)

    • @lkayh
      @lkayh ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mickm6309 the thing is with the hard arms that loop over your ears, they stay stationary. I’m thinking from wearing sweat bands the way you suggest that your hair would push the strap down towards your neck until the glasses were at an angle. At least for me, my ears didn’t help as much, even tho the sweat bands stayed in place on the sides.

  • @jw3521

    The Peeq are just not right at all. They are flat across the face, glasses should have at least some curve so you don't end up with a huge gap on each side of your face that would let in a bunch of unwanted sunlight. as far as the others i bet you can get different color lenses from them, if not suggest it to them!

  • @percypercy1929
    @percypercy1929 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    It's pretty clear from your video that you prefer polarized sunglasses.
    Non-polarized glasses can be beneficial in some cases. For example, you won't find a pilot ever wearing polarized subglasses on the job, as it will stop them reading the displays in the cockpit. For them polarized is really bad.

    • @peeqglasses
      @peeqglasses ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Correct! Pilots cannot legally use polarized lenses. Polarization does have its cons but a lot of people seem to “fall for it” in thinking they are always better. They do have good use cases though.

    I would be interested in the Ombrez as prescription glasses instead of sunglasses. The adjustable strap instead of standard arms I feel would be more comfortable and better on the for long term wear. If they were a prescription the frame itself could be a little smaller and lighter and since theres nothing holding onto your ears you could always throw on sunglasses over them, unless they made some clip ons or something. Anyway, very interesting glasses, too expensive for me, but if I could choose a pair to just show up at my door, it'd definitely be the Ombrez. Theyre different and I tend to gravitate toward whatever isnt the norm.

    Just curious but is there a wire in the Peeq glasses arms? Judging that they are reversible I would assume the arms would be able to be adjusted since they would naturally conform to the shape of your head and like yours, curve the wrong way if you reverse them.

    The Ombraz could be left as a necklace when you take them off. So you don't actually have to deal with the hat issue and as a necklace you don't really need to store them anywhere.
    But personally my favorite thing about the Ombraz is that it solves one of the issues I've experienced with virtually all forms of glasses at some point. Eventually either by forgetting to take them off while sleeping/napping or by accidentally pressing them my glasses' temple/arms become misaligned and my frames become crooked or off-center. With the Ombraz this isn't an issue anymore. Love it.

    5 years of R&D for the reversible glasses? Seems like it didn't accomplish much. The hinge design isn't impressive, and the way they handle the ends of the arms is just no effort given? I think one possible solution could have been to make it flexible, so when you slip them on, you slide your hands down the arms and gently put some pressure on them to get them to conform to your scalp. It's not even polarized? Yeah, just a cheap gimmick where they threw out some BS number to make it sound more impressive than it is.
    As an aside, the style is just bad IMO. I've never been a fan of that look, which is essentially 'injection molded plastic, with the frame acting as the nosepiece as well'. It just looks cheap as hell and I can't imagine it's especially comfortable either. I don't wear sunglasses though (I wear prescription glasses, and use a transitions feature), so I can't fairly judge the comfort of that style.

    Kind of a weird comparison because of the Ombraz being so different. While you can't clip them on something, you can just let them dangle around your neck and they are far less likely to break because they don't have hinges. The biggest concern for me with those was how tight they would have to be against your face. But, they sit completely differently than standard glasses and are so different because the frame is so different that I don't think it's really a comparison to standard sunglasses.

    First time I ever splurged and bought sunglasses that cost more than $20, I got a pair of those Kore. I lost them within a month.
    They were nice while I had them. They are a bit heavy, IMO.

    Ombraz are awesome. I love mine so much. Can’t go back to sunnies with arms, feels too uncomfortable.

    So designer prices for a Noname brand. Why anyone buy these instead of regular designer glasses

    The reversable one is lame. The one with magnets seem logical to make and have. The one with straps don't seem easy to take on or off and I can see having to adjust the fit a lot.

    You’d think Kore would have searched the term before they went to market….
