This show is darker than I ever expected it to be since it looks like a cute and fluffy sports anime. I expect this out of a more mature sports series, like rikudou (which I doubt will ever be animated 😩). Plus, with it being an original anime, I can't quite prepare myself like I usually do lol

Stars Align is insanely underrated, I wish there were more animes that put the ugly raw truth of child abuse and how common it is. The way this anime brought healthy LGBTQ+ representation is also something I dearly appreciated. 💞

I bet someone was watching this entire thing happen and I assume it's someone Maki knows. So, they'll definitely tell the mom and she'll basically report this. Plus, they're divorced and assuming I'm right, the mother has full custody of Maki and the father isn't supposed to visit them, right?
ProFireFox The mother said she was in the middle of getting a restraining order. That is a very long process though, and even though she has full custody, he can technically see Maki still, I think. It would be actually illegal to go within a certain distance of him and the mother once the restraining order is all figured out though.
ProFireFox I believe so, because I remember in one of the episodes, I don’t quite remember which one but Maki’s mother was talking to someone, I believe it was Toma’s brother (wow I have bad memory, I’m sorry) but basically they asked if the father knew where they lived and she said “No”. She still doesn’t know he came back and hurt Maki the first episode and took the money... hopefully someone did see this and tells Maki’s mother or Maki tells his mother after this..
@@bittersweetloops Maki might not do it and when the soft tennis club finds out his racket got destroyed, he might tell them it fell down the stairs or something (any excuse can be told). They will see him acting weird and someone might show up, an eyewitness of this incident, and tell them, making them understand. It might go that way at this point.

@@noafu6436 This is way worse than that. 1. Endeavor's trying to change 2. Even if he wasn't Todoroki lives in the dorms so he personally no longer has to deal with that. Maki's Dad however is purposely hunting his son down making his life miserable with no intention of stopping. I know it probably won't happen... But I'm really hoping there's a season 2.

Watched this a few months ago and still remember how angry this made me.
I really love how this anime depicts their trauma tho, with their flashbacks, panic attacks, how they deal with it etc. I wish we got a second season :(

great anime. i'm not a fan of sport anime, but this one is a banger.
I bet the father was just like Maki when he was a kid. A guy with dreams and friends. But, something happened in his life that forced him into unemployment and made him realize that those ambitions mean nothing. I still hate him for his abuse on his ex wife and son. He can't be forgiven. But, understand he has his reasons, even if his actions are harsh and unforgivable.
Hope we see how this happened. The way grownups talked sounds tragic
