    Such an excellent video highlighting all the rich architecture of this city!!! Back when we had the great fire of Saint John in 1877, there was a telegram put out calling all architects and they came from Boston, California, Montreal and all over to help rebuild the city. That’s where we get them rich unique building designs!!!

    Great architecture, people are very friendly and nice, tons of things to explore and the nightlife is great for its size. I hope some people explore these cities and appreciate its simple pure beauty because other cities doesn't have the same identity that they had once. Good job for showing to us, Thank you!

      I agree with you wholeheartedly! I never spent much time in Saint John, always heard the bad things about the city, never the good. Was recently in the city and was amazed by the friendliness of the folks in the city, something you don't find in Fredericton, where I live (I'm sure I'll offend someone saying this). The old buildings are charming, and lots of things to see and do. I will be making sure to spend more time in SJ in the near future!! :)

    I drove through Saint John this past summer (2020) and I was blown away at the beauty and the development. People who talk bad about the city really don't appreciate the level of effort that went into preserving the heritage structures around the city. I understand there are nuances I'm not aware of, but the aesthetic of the city is gorgeous, and I can't wait to go back once my city is out of red phase (Moncton).

Looking to move permanently to Canada in 5-10yrs and I'm looking at good potential cities. This city has one of the lowest retention rates for immigrants and has a hard time retaining youth. It is only green 4 months of the year. Trees are not in full bloom until June! Half the year has temps 0 Celsius and below, and lots of fog in the summer. This is one of the least sought after cities for Canadians. Your education and experience would get you much better pay and advancement in other cities in Canada. Cultural events are few and far between. Keep in mind this city is economically depressed by Canadian standards.

    Probably one of the most underrated cities in Canada... is it?

    • @rps1689
      @rps1689 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. It is still one of the least sought after places for Canadians to live for many reasons; and one of the hardest to retain youth and youth in the work place. That being said, young families are leaving their families to move here for "affordable" housing. I haven't met any of them enamoured by the city; just a few realtors and their friends.
      Keep in mind NB only had a net migration of about half of one percent last year.

      @@micheldufenberg4745 There is a nuclear station 50 kilometres south west of the city , but New Brunswick is one of the most economically depressed regions in the country so good jobs are few and far between. Also the city has poor air quality due to an oil refinery and a pulp mill.
      Moncton is a cleaner and larger city, and its capital city is really a small town that lacks services.
      The best place to get jobs in the Nuclear sector would be in Ontario.

    A thing to be concerned about if visiting Saint John for an extended period of time is the toxic fumes and dirt coming from the oil refinery and pulp mill that pretty much settles on everything. Both are inside the city! You can't even escape the smell inside McAllistor Place mall. It is so present on a daily basis that the locals get so used to it many can not smell it. The fine particulates and sulphur compounds needless to say are hazardous to ones health especially seniors and children.
