Quickest way to getting trophy bass is dispatching every bass under 1 1/2 pounds that he catches. No chance for trophy bass until he makes that decision
Build you another pond next to that pond but on upper side. Stock with blackheads minnows golden shiners then when the minnows start reproducing release a lot of the in the big pond .it worked
Flair should build a floating dock on the cabin pond with a pulley system, where it can float away from the bank a good 15-20 feet. That would be awesome!
Lucy is one of my favorite dogs that I have never actually met, whenever I see her just enjoying life it makes me smile! A possible tip for training would be clicker training, because it is a way to reward her for behavior outside of the realm of close contact. Like for shed hunting or finding a bird, when she finds what she is looking for she could still get the positive encouragement! Also it is way easier and clearer than yelling “good girl!”.
Flair you’ve got the system down pat for teaching Lucy. I spend multiple seasons trying to train my brown lab the ways of ducks and pheasants retrieval and the only thing that works was the cabelas shot you nabbed! After I nabbed that sucker I brought her out every time I had a day off for an hour or so and by duck season she became an amazing retriever.
It's good to see Lucy is not gun shy. A good training tip is to force break her. And what that means is to train her to hold different objects and release them on your command. Her sit and stay are good. But having her hold object until you say is a big help. Also the use of a shock collar during training helps. Treats are good but ween her off them. Have verbal praise is easier too. You don't need a bag a treats. She is a bird dog and wants to work for your praises.
geese mellow out after breeding season, hope goose 5 comes back with her little ones (if she nested) but it's kind of coming around to the time you would have already seen her.
I think you guys should cast net for the crappie next time off one of your boat. I would find that entertaining and it would make stocking the off grid cabin pond easier
Luci braking form off a gun you’ll have to train her on a daily basis for about 4-6 weeks and continue with the treats but turn the treats into affection and she will keep doing it after persistence on your behalf she do whatever you want you just have to put in the work
Flair when we transport fish we freeze water bottles and put them in the cooler with the fish and it relaxes them and helps them and when released they are ready to go!
As a nurse I’ve been super on the fence about spending the money on a MYFAK from them and I finally splurged bc of this sponsorship thanks for spending my money..
Great advertisement in the beginning. This is the first product I’m actually going to get using Flair’s code. That looks like a great first aid kit. As a dad now I should definitely have something like that on hand at all times.
Flair! Best sponsorship for a video, as someone who has had their life saved by a first aid kit I can only recommend everyone carry at least an IFAK (Individual First Aid Kit).
You asked for advice!!! Sorry its long! There are few commands and a few tips :) 1. Heel 2. Hold 3. Mark #1 is huge with hunting dogs. It's used to control her position and make sure she is safe with other people hunting with you. It allows you to shoot birds / others to shoot birds while she is at your heels controlled and not spazzing out. Heeling can be done at first with a 1 foot lead. Keep her close and almost right at your side with her not getting ahead of you. Keep her even or slightly back. Walk around the yard, issuing the command. Make turns, Go in weird directions and make sure she stays with you. Start and stop periodically. When you stop, she stops, when you go she goes - always staying with you. #2 Hold is another big one. You want them to hold birds (and not chew them... which they 100% will once they get real birds in their mouths lol) Until you are ready to take it from them. Alot of times this is the moment you need to set your gun down or do whatever. You command them to hold the Bird until you are rdy to take it. Holding can be trained stationary - get them to associate "hold" with something in their mouth. Once she will hold the dummy for you until you are ready to take it. Start using the Hold command while heeling at your side after she has sat down. If she drops the dummy tell her NO!, grab it and put it right back in her mouth, and tell her "HOLD!" You can start training hold with dummies but you want to go shoot something a pheasant or a duck or something and use that to train with also and if they chew you need to break that quick. The last thing you want is a punctured bird lol. #3. Mark is big for her awareness and watching birds when they fall to the ground. Especially if you hunt with friends. You want to be able to keep her heeled - and Mark several birds before you let her go retrieve. You can train this with multiple dummies. Example: She is heeled up, Toss a dummy MARK! and she follows it, Toss another MARK! and she follows the second dummy. THEN you can tell her to "GO" or "FETCH!" They will mark instinctively but you want them to mark while Heeled so issuing the command is just something they get used to hearing while they are heeled. You'll find they begin to associate Marking with heeling and will want to heel because "soon" they will hear mark! and that means they get to run! which is ALL they wanna do! Training for #1 should be no retrieving, no throwing dummies - just do it around the house outside in the yard. Once she has it, remove the lead and start working on this with no lead. If she starts to misbehave put her ight back on the lead - they hate the lead... and will eventually understand "Hmmm If I do this it means NO LEAD!" Train Holding separately - somewhere different. in place, just have her heel and sit. Give her a dummy and command her to "Hold" if she drops it tell her No!, pick it up and put it back in there and tell her to "hold!" wash rinse repeat 5-7 minutes per day. These sessions should be 10-15 minutes a day total, until she has it down. So like 5-7 mins each for 1 and 2. #3 comes automatically once Heel and Hold are there. Marking multiples is good though so she understands that it's not always 1 bird and I run my ass off! There could be 2 birds or THREE! THEN I can run once I hear "FETCH" It also lets her know there are more than one bird to track if she misses one in a totally different direction than she was focusing for the first shot. Stay consistent with your NO! command always say it the same stern way - and let her know you are serious. ANY time she disobeys - give her the NO! Stay consistent with your Praise - EACH and every time she does well, praise her bigtime (all the time). Let her know she's awesome. Treats... I'm not a huge treat person. In all the years we trained dogs, we never used treats. Not saying its good or bad :) Treats for our labs were the Praise they got, they love being loved!. They would do ANYTHING for you to take them out and throw the dummy or praise them to death lol. Once you have the basics down stop training them and start 10-15 minute serious training during retrieving while tying in those new commands to reinforce them. Focus on accurate heeling, accurate holds, marking multiple / singles etc. Blow up on her when she does it right and let her know shes the best! or tell her no! if she has some mistakes. Be consistent! Nothing is worse than training dogs and being anything but consistent. It takes SOOOOO much longer to get it done. A lot of training can be broken out and this is huge for dogs. Focus a single task and they will know exactly what you are asking of them. A lake session trying to combine it all at once is usually too much for them early on and they are too busy spazzing out (This is show time for them lol). Heel around the house outside. Hold in the garage etc. She will learn them as separate things. Later when you issue the commands she will understand them without question and you can tie it all together once she knows them individually. Last tip? Don't ever choose commands that sound alike :) Like Stay and Lay / lay down. It'll just confuse them. We use "charge" for lay down, but you get the idea. This is great for duck hunting in blinds, you can tell her to heel, then "charge" to lay down for those long waits. Good luck! Stay consistent and she will work her ass off for you!
I've done some fishing up in Minnesota and have definitely realized that crappie like to school up, so if you find one try to keep fishing there. We use a live minnow with a spinner and it seems to work really well
Not entirely true, this then makes then go bonkers while hunting because they want you to play with them before hunting. If she gets used to being high on energy and still able to sit and stay, that's what you want

Have you talked to anyone about getting tilapia for both ponds? with lucy i’d recommend working not cutting banks, and of course breaking but shes pretty good about that other, than that she’s a good duck dog, great job and video!
