- Here's my first impressions of the Trak Racer TR80 Lite. It's really good, but there's some things you need to know before dropping your own money on this rig! I tell you everything you need to know in this video!
Please like and subscribe! Thank you!
Didn't know about the lack of slider. Thanks for the heads up.
Thanks for the tip about the long shifter arm. certainly makes sense!
The entire video was just a continuous stream of complaints about the chair slider. Buyers have the option of investing slightly more for a rig like the TR80, which includes additional features such as a chair slider and an adjustable F1 to GT pedal stand. By the way, any generic gaming reclining seat is compatible with the TR80 LITE. This rig is designed to be compatible with reclining seats from other manufacturers. But I agree, the delivery process is a real wallet buster. And Fanatec also does not consolidate shipments.
Buyers also have the option to invest in GT Omega prime lite rig, which is less expensive, includes shifter mount, side profile is connected to the base which makes the construction sturdier. they don’t charge for shipping, and do include the slider with the seat. The only thing I did not like was the fact that the pedal plate did not have pre-drilled holes for csl pedals. But overall they offer much better value than TR.
You can make your life easier when installing the wheel base by installing the t-nuts into the wheel deck first then slide on the wheel base and tighten up the bolts.
Good idea.
I found a passenger seat out of a very nice volvo. All non power adjustments (why I picked it) so I could still use all the functions. It took 10 mins and 50 dollars to get. Very comfy, well bolstered, looks like the day it was made and it looks like it was made for my rig. 400 for a seat is nuts.
Hell yeah! Sometimes that's the best way!
But did it come with the seat slider?
@@GrexofFaria Yep, the slider is part of the seat. Just 4 bolts and unplugged the airbags, that was it. I did have to trim the rails a couple of inches with a hacksaw, then touched up with a little paint.
The castors on my GT Omega rig are a huge part of why I can get away with even owning a racing rig. When I’m not playing I just wheel the rig flush against the wall next to my computer desk and my wife can tolerate it and the room can function for kids etc.
Even just for the convenience of being able to easily move it to clean under and around the rig.
Trak racer is now off my list.
Their website is terrible, the dropdown menus are virtually unusable, so it's no surprise you missed that the slider wasn't included. Glad to hear they are working on a new website, although I've heard that story many times before.
strange you didnt get the option to add the slider... i ordered mine on 18/12/2023 and i could add the slider no problem. still has not arrived and no word on when it will arrive from trak racer.
thanks for your explenation on certain bits, and im looking forward to finally get rid of the aging desk i was using for sim racing.
With Trak Racers inability to deliver products in a timely fashion, I would highly recommend steering clear of this company.
Yet nobody ever covers this. They take as long as famatec and have for yesrs but since true enthusiasts go with them less conplain since famatec runs and gets even regular racers those guys complain way more. Either way it's not right that all eyes are on fanatec and ruined an ceo job over complaints. Yet trak racer sits here on average taking 60 to 90 days to deliver for years now and reviewers don't try ruining them? Customers don't either. I find it hilarious how do many brands are having the same issues yet lights aren't all on them.
@@reviewforthetube6485 60 to 90 days are you serious??? Even if the store doesn't say anything is out of stock?
I’m waiting to receive mine. I’m 10 minutes into the video and agree with everything you’ve said. I wasn’t aware the “bracket” wasn’t a slider. That’s very disappointing. Also not enthused about items being shipped through 3 different couriers. Especially USPS that is garbage service on their best day.
Yeah the no slider thing still has me baffled lol. If you want the link to the one I got off amazon just let me know. It's probably not the best out there but it was budget friendly, works and shipped quick.
@@DanDiMaggio that would be great thanks!

there you go bud. If you run into any issues getting it all setup give me a shout!@@chrisphelps343
Can I get the length from pedal end to the uprights.
Perfect rig and perfect size
Are the caster mounting holes standard?
For 350 it better include the seat slider!! Thank you for another video Dan...and i am about to unlock the fox body challenge myself. Off topic, but forza motorsport is a prettt fun game. Its just missing too much for my liking..such as a b c d e hoppers and i wish you could add ai cars to private multi players lobbies with friends. That is all. Peace✌️
You could probably go to a junkyard and pull a nice seat out of a car or SUV and save a ton of money. You may need to adapt it to the rig though.
Junk yard you can get some pretty great seats from 30 to 200 I got a wrx seat and sliders for 60 . I worked in RTV at Costco they probably ship different carriers to keep the cost down you can get ship contracts but could cost more
Get this man his seat slider
300% agree about the slider, its bizarre and confusing
The TR80 comes with a seat slider, they have to differentiate the 2 rigs with little components because there isn't much of a difference.
I just checked the website and its sting the bracket is included with the seat. The bracket is what mounts the seats right? That’s not the slider I’m assuming.
Correct. A slider is not included.
What’s the difference between this and TR80, i can’t decide which one is better.
Question about the shifter arm does it come like that now or did you add that ???
I'd end up getting a seat from Summit or Jegs anyways. A seat that can actually be used in a car being cheaper than a sim-racing specific seat is ridiculous. Pay more for fake gear. It's probably because they have their brand on it.
Seats that come with rigs are garbage. They flex a ton and are low quality. I got a Corbeau FX1 seat with aluminum side brackets for $500
Have you tried this rig with torquier wheels. 16+nm. Let me know
Sorry, does the seat come with a slider? 😉
LOL
You can order one if you want it.
Do you need the slider to even mount the seat or can you still mount the seat without it?
The Slider is Optional
do they have other wheelplate/wheelbase mounting options for the TR80 lite specifically?
Yes they do have some other options but they are an additional cost. That being said now that I've been putting it to the test I honestly haven't had any issues with it. It seems to be holding up perfectly. I'll have the full review out soon with more details about my likes and dislikes.
@@DanDiMaggio I only ask because I have this chassis but can't find the options for that. I'd like to side mount my CSL dd
@@martymet Im pretty sure the CSL DD and the Podium DD use the same side mount. It shows it as an optional add-on when you purchase the rig but I can't find it sold separately. Strange. I'll reach out to my contact and see if i can find out. I'll get back with you asap.
What is better. This or the gt omega? I’m new to sim racing and want to make the right choice. I don’t need anything better than this type of cockpit.
I am currently buttoning up my full review on the GT Omega Prime Lite and honesty all of these "Lite" style profile cockpits are nearly identical in the way they perform. As I'll suggest in that review, my recommendation is to buy whichever one is in stock and is the cheapest when you're ready to pull the trigger. They all bolt together pretty much the same way, and have basically the same infinite adjustability. The main differences are the seat offerings and slight differences in the wheel decks and pedal trays. But after initial setup, when you're racing they all "feel" identical if that makes sense. The seat on this TR80 seems to be better quality than the RS12 on the Prime Lite but they're both reasonably comfortable. If you can wait a little longer I'm hoping to have the Prime Lite review finished this weekend and I'll have some more insight on profile rigs in general in that one. Hope this helps!
@@DanDiMaggio oh definitely. I’m still shopping around and doing some research. I haven’t figured out how exactly I want to setup my sim rig. I want to be able to play console racing games and pc sim racing like I racing and acc etc. it’s just difficult figuring out where my rig would go lol. I have a nice 65inch Sony tv 120hz for console and a 3080ti 9700k 32gb ram pc that usually stays in the living room. Can’t wait for the video! I subscribed to the channel as well thanks for the input.
Still don’t see the slider as an add on on the main page
It is there. In the TR80 LITE page and separately. Under "WHEEL BASE MOUNT" is "SEAT SLIDER" selection NONE or WITH SLIDER (caps because its caps in the site). If you want it separately just search "Seat Slider" in their search and it comes right up. Alternatively in Popular Addon's selection there is Universal Seat Slider.
What shifter arm is that
I just mounted an office chair my one wasnt paying that much for a seat
Legitimately unbolted my passenger seat from my daily and used it for 6 months on my rig when I first got it 😂 eventually brought a bucket seat but honestly wish i hadn't because after an hour or 2 it's so uncomfortable.
1/3rd of your video is whinging about a seat-slider accessory...
it was interesting enough for you to comment and watch though...
@@DanDiMaggio I felt you carried on a bit much about that, when it's obvious from the website (and other sources) that it's an optional extra. An unjustified rant tbh. ;)
im befuddled by the fact.... you never showed any footage of YOU in the Rig ....pressing pedals showing reach and seeing you in seat and reach to the wheel....sawing at the wheel a little .... just seeing a person actually sitting in the rig would do Wonders for your review 😏
I literally said this was not a review so I am befuddled by the fact that you're commenting on a video you clearly didn't watch. This was my first impressions of the ordering process and build which is clearly stated. The review will come later once I've had extensive use with the rig which will of course include the things you've mentioned here. I'm not one of those channels that does a full review on something I've only had for a day. There's plenty of those channels out there but I'm not one of them.
He did say it's not a review watch the video carefully before you attack people!
I get that sim racing is expensive, but after shipping and adding everything else together im at $2000 in the cart, and this is just for all the "entry level" stuff, I can go buy a beater CAR for that price. Lord help my wallet.
@one_slow_b0at i have no clue how u could be at 2k for "entry level"
@@BigMoneyButters
Fanatec DD bundle with load cell 700$
Cockpit 450-550$
Seat 200$
Additional wheel like McLaren fanatec 220$
Screen 200/300
Or vr 300
( pc 1k)
@@dd-ic2vp well i think you could budgeteer your list, you don't need the fanatec budle and you don't need the additional wheel, actually the fanatac is a more expensive choice, you can buy second hand, only the PC & the cockpit are a must buy though this cockpit isn't really entry-level more like mid-range.
What a whiny little dude . OMG had to quit around the 9 min mark . Pure torture….
