OUTSTANDING! I am 64 years old, never played bass, but now starting *4 months ago. This is a lesson I can understand and follow. Thank you for your inspiration.
Superb. I'm 62, out of bass playing for over 10 years. I was just invited by some workmates to jam once a week on some blues to get us all warmed up and locked in. I'll be watching this a lot and it proves that blues and my beloved slap can work together. Thank you. Oh, and harmonics? Yes please!
Great! At last I find someone who realizes the word Beginner. The simple approach where the viewer can see the fingers and are also told what fret. It's the old Crawl, Walk, Run, system that a beginner needs. And the PDF was great also. Thank you.
Been Playing the Blues in all its forms since 1956. You did a great job of teaching the real basis for the Blues and I learned a bit as well. So hats off to you me Boyo

My favorite blues bassist is the guy who played with Junior Wells and Buddy Guy back in the 60s. Can't think of his name. He was strong and basic but did some cool stuff too.
I'm very happy to have stumbled upon your videos. You are a very good bass player and a very natural teacher. Thank you for the lessons! I appreciate them a great deal.
I learned the 12 bar sequence many years ago in the 1970s but it was taught differently. I learned it as 4 bars of the 1 chord, 2 bars of the 4 chord, 2 bars of the 1 chord, one bar of the 5 chord, 1 bar of the 4 chord, one bar of the 1 chord and 1 bar of the 5 chord.or, 4x1 2x4 2x1 1x5 1x4 1x1 1x5 and repeat.
Thank you! This helps so much, I've been playing since I was 11 but I slowly lost interest and I lost my touch. So thank you for letting regain my touch(:
Loved the lesson!!! Thank you so much! And I have a question for you: Are you like the tallest bass player in the universe, or is that that some kind of reduced scale bass?
Hi Samuel! I use the one built into my Zoom B1FOUR currently for practice etc. Previously I've also used the drums built into these units: Zoom B3 Zoom B1 Pandora PX4D Any of the above or similar are great for the job. Hope that helps, Samuel, Scott.
Yes - all the ones listed will come through your amp along with your bass (bass into input of the Zoom/Korg, then output of the Zoom/Korg into your amp). Also you can run any of them into headphones for quiet late night practice! :)
KirkDickinson the most basic 12 bar blues doesn't come down from the V to the IV on bar 10 and doesn't have a turnaround on bar 12. This form is used generally because it has stronger mnemonic value.
Thanks for the feedback, David - much appreciated. TH-cam's changed a lot since I shot that early video and I've had to learn to trim out every millisecond of 'fluff'. Hopefully you'd approve of the new edits. Thanks again, David - take care and stay in touch, Scott.

jjjtttggg I was thinking the same thing. He’s got to be like 8ft tall, lol
short scale bass
Haha! Francisco nailed it - shoet scale bass!! :)
Lol
what drum machine do you have ??
Hi Samuel!
I use the one built into my Zoom B1FOUR currently for practice etc. Previously I've also used the drums built into these units:
Zoom B3
Zoom B1
Pandora PX4D
Any of the above or similar are great for the job.
Hope that helps, Samuel,
Scott.
@@ScottWhitley so when plugged in will it come out across the amp ? I don't use stuff like that very much
Yes - all the ones listed will come through your amp along with your bass (bass into input of the Zoom/Korg, then output of the Zoom/Korg into your amp).
Also you can run any of them into headphones for quiet late night practice! :)
I just have to laugh - you're amazing in teaching ---
Very kind
incredible sound, what's your gear?
I already found it
+Leo Dosbe Sorry for the late reply Leo!!

I have heard that called 12 bar blues with a "quick IV". The most basic 12 bar says on the I chord for 4 bars without the quick IV.
I've heard it called "long" with 4 bars on the I, and "short" with 1 on the I and 1 on the IV.
KirkDickinson the most basic 12 bar blues doesn't come down from the V to the IV on bar 10 and doesn't have a turnaround on bar 12. This form is used generally because it has stronger mnemonic value.
Shortscale lover
Hello, Scott. Can I ask what drum machine you use?
