    The imposing Kenworth W-900 has everything that long-haul truckers need to get the job done. This impressive Kenworth design sports a dual sleeper capped with an aerodynamic roof line which tells everyone who sees it that it is a road machine without equal. Features
    Hood tilts forward to show detailed turbocharged six cylinder diesel engine.Chrome plated simulated alloy wheels, dual exhaust stacks, roof mounted horns and mirrors with antennas.Decals with optional stripes or custom graphics, Kenworth markings and license plates.Molded in white and clear with chrome plated parts and soft black tires.231 Parts.
    The Kenworth W900 is a model line of conventional-cab trucks produced by the American truck manufacturer Kenworth. In continuous production since 1961, the W900 is among the longest-running nameplates in American automotive history. The "W" in W900 denotes Worthington, one of the two founders of Kenworth.[1]Produced exclusively as Class 8 truck, the W900 is offered in multiple configurations. Alongside several semitractor layouts, the W900 is also produced as a rigid truck. During much of its production, the W900 has been popular among owner-operators. Along with the Peterbilt 359/379/389, the W900 is a popular basis for truck customization, including additional chrome trim, wheels, custom paint, and additional lighting.In 2018, Kenworth introduced the W990 as a flagship model line[2]; as of 2019, the W900 continues production.
    In 1956, Kenworth introduced the 900-series conventional-cab truck, replacing the 500-series introduced in 1939. As with its predecessor, the 900-series shared the chassis of the Kenworth cabover, replacing the "Bullnose" Kenworth COE with the Kenworth K900. As before, a side-opening "butterfly" hood was standard, but a forward tilting fiberglass hood became an option for the first time.In 1961, Kenworth introduced the W900 conventional as the replacement for the 900-series. As part of several major design changes, the cab was completely redesigned, raising the height of the cab roof and windows and mounting the two windshield panes together. To better allow for engine cooling, the radiator was widened slightly, with the tilting hood made standard. While the headlights remained fender-mounted, the housings were faired into the fenders.Model overview[edit]
    In production for over 57 years, the Kenworth W900 has been produced in three basic generations: the "narrow-hood" W900 (1961-1966) and the "wide-hood" W900A (1967-1982) and W900B (1982-present). Currently (as of 2018) there are three versions of the W900B sold. Alongside the standard W900B, there is the extended-hood W900L (introduced in 1989) and the sloped-hood W900S (introduced in 1987); the W900S is similar to the T800, except for its set-forward front axle.W900 (1961-1966)[edit]In contrast to the 900-series and 500-series Kenworth conventionals, the cab introduced "bulkhead-style" doors (with full-length hinges). In another change, the roof panel was changed from metal to fiberglass. While functionally different, the W900 retained the wide-style vent windows, with door handles mounted below the windows.W900A (1967-1982)[edit]In 1967, the W900 underwent its first major change and was renamed the W900A. To accommodate larger diesel engines, the hood was widened several inches to further increase radiator size. For 1972, the doors of the W900 were changed, with the model adapting larger windows, narrower vent windows; for ease of use, the door handles were re-positioned to the bottom of the doors and changed from a lever-style to a pull-style configuration. In 1973, the Kenworth badging was changed, with a redesigned grille emblem and hood badging. And in 1974, A new 60" flattop double sleeper was available as a factory optionIn 1976, Kenworth introduced the Aerodyne sleeper cab for the W900A. Distinguished by its twin skylight windows, Aerodyne was the first factory-produced sleeper cab with a raised roof.After the 1982 introduction of the W900B, the W900 continued production in Mexico (Kenmex), adopting the latter model's rectangular headlamps.W900B (1982-present)[edit]During 1982, Kenworth introduced the W900B as a replacement for the W900A. While largely distinguished by its introduction of rectangular headlamps (though round headlamps initially remained an option), the W900B underwent further modification. To further accommodate increased engine cooling, the hoodline was raised, requiring the cab to be mounted higher on the frame.Since the introduction of the W900B, Kenworth has introduced two variants of the W900. In 1987, the W900S was introduced, adopting the sloped hood of the T800. In 1990, the W900L was introduced as a longer version, extending the BBC from 120 to 130 inches.

    V8 cats for the road tractors back in the day were painted white. The I6 cats were CAT yellow.

    I can see building this kit as the snowman's truck from smokey and the bandit

    • @dennycelestinohybridspecies
      @dennycelestinohybridspecies 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think I might get this kit to pose as my Snowman Bandit #2 tractor, and maybe use the sleeper leftover from the A M T kit that just wasn't easy to put together. And when I did get most of it together, it seemed like it was just a bad kit or it came from a bad mold with holes and pins that were barely there, and a lot of twisted parts where I had to do a lot of fabricating and work. By the time I got it to a frame and chassis with wheels, it was just so dilapidated it started to just come apart. I have the aerodyne version of this kit but it's a one piece cabin sleeper i'll use that for another build probably like a flatbed tractor since I got resin kit tool boxes and chains and stuff tie downs. I already like how this kit looks with great molded pieces similar to the aerodyne kenworth I got but a heck of a lot more detail for sure! It's a lot cleaner is the best way I can describe it, whereas the AMT kit I ended up accidentally cutting parts because you couldn't tell where the mold ended or start it. Already got the rear end tandems built for the trailer, and I really wanted a tractor to be ready to put underneath it and this looks like a killer kit.

      I just saw your comment as I just added mine. I got everything, the decal kit is almost 50 Bucks alone, the trailer I think was like 30 and I already built the rear end tires everything's together I'm gonna put a wooden floor down I got out of balsa wood, and I'm gonna do a diorama of the Bandit driving the Trans Am out of the trailer. I already got the Bandit 1# Trans Am as well, but that AMT Kenworth kit wasn't so great at least it wasn't for me. Me and my dad built a similar AMT kit when I was a kid, it was shown as the Movin' On tractor but we just painted it up custom for ourselves but I remember a funny conversation where my dad kept saying it was a double sleeper or a sit in sleeper, and I thought remembered it as not, until I saw reruns like in 2017 four years after my dad passed on. It made me giggle at the same time a little sad saying yep dad was right he was a trucker and I was a trucker and that show and then Smokey and the Bandit really changed our model building as well as our trucking lives. I would DEFINITELY build Sonny Pruitt's Kenworth with this kit for SURE!!!

    Nice job. I had one purty much just like it back in the 80's, but came with the Kenworth aerodyne sleeper. Hood cab & sleeper were molded in metallic silver & came with orange decal stripes to put on the side. It also came with the V-8 mechanical air to air Caterpillar diesel engine. i painted every single detail imaginable on my KW, including all interior detail . Left all the chrome parts chrome. I didnt see a chrome deck plate behinde the sleeper, nor did i see a "pogo stick" to hang up the trailer air lines & the trailer ligh power cord. Overall, a very nice job on this kit. I love REVEL kits because their attention to detail on every single part, no matter the size, is extremely detailed. Whats even better than the kits is driving the real thing. . . .10-4! Take care & God bless.

    I recently saw this same kit in our local HobbyTown USA store and considered buying it to make a replica of Sonny Pruitt's truck, from the old TV show called Movin' On. This kit would actually be more accurate than the model kit that used to be available that was actually supposed to be the Movin' On truck. That kit had a smaller sleeper, different front bumper, and I think a few other discrepancies.

    very nice kit! Reminds me of the earlier Revell big rig kits they had out, the Peterbilt 359 conventional, and the Kenworth 900 sleeper. Both kits, older snap fit molds, built up wonderfully and look the part- Im kind of into big rigs now, I have a White singe drive cabover from AMT that's in the build list. Loving all the tiny tiny details in this, defiantely worth a skill 5 rate!

    This reminds me of the model big rig my brother Built for me, I would detail later. The kit was the International Harvester 4070 C.O.E (Cab Over Engine) made by Ertl! The frame, axels, driveshafts, and transmission were molded in black, and the rest of the truck (including the Detroit diesel engine) were molded in red! The radiator, and hoses also molded in black!

    Thanks to you, I went out and bought my first car kit a few months ago: an AMT '69 Plymouth GTX convertible. With the lockdown, I've really got stuck into building it, using products that you recommend, including the Rustoleum paints, silver (and gold) Sharpies and the Molotow Chrome pens. A couple of days ago, I used the Rustoleum Flat Gray Primer on the GTX's bodywork, and have just finished spraying a top coat of Rustoleum's Colonial Red: to say the least - wow! The Colonial Red has covered extremely well, without obscuring fine detail and is looking spectacular, with a deep gloss, maroon finish. Once I mask and paint the sills black, and complete the brightwork I am going to have one swe-e-eet model. Thanks for the inspiration...you've hooked me.

If you were going to replicate it,and couldn't find an A model,just make some little round indicater lights,red on the back Amber on the front instead of the square ones and glue em on the fender tops in the same location,maybe a little forward.

      @@jack002tuber Hello, it would not be very hard to do just take a small rod and a small plate some thin hoses curled up and that is about it. Maybe make a tiny spring out of thin wire wrapped around a axel from a car kit with some thin wire to hold the hoses and attach it to the top of the shaft. About 1/16 thick would work. The hoses would go under the sleeper or under the cab.

      Trucks made much past the eighties don't have em. Calle hose-tenna (don't know why) most truckers called em pogo sticks. I've driven trucks from a1980 to a 2006 and never had one. Plus,when they break from vibrations,turning to sharp and snapping it off with the trailer,most guys just put those long hanger springs on the hoses
      A lot of the kits for older trucks come with them.

    I really like this kit alot,BUT, I would have to cut that so-called curtain area off, to either make it a true walk in sit in sleeper, or make it a real functioning curtain. The way it seems that the walk in/sit in sleeper mounts it's a shame to not actually have it be functional and look more realistic. I definitely wanna get this kit maybe two like I said in a couple of other comments I would like to make a full on Sonny Pruitt Movin' On tractor, and I am curious to see if I could make this kit work as Bandit #2 Snowman's Kenworth and Smokey and the Bandit. I found a couple of part trees from the AMT kit W925 and spare interiors with the short back seats in the short interior for the crawl in Sleeper. The Kenworth W900 Aerodyne Tractor 1:25 Scale Revell #85-1507 -Model Kit is the aerodyne one I have, and now that I look at that kit, I believe I can do what I am mentioning to that kit with the AMT cab and small bunk, on the Revell Kit. I looked in the box and it already has a very short wheelbase and I never actually put the cab parts together from the AMT kit, so maybe I'll make a video and see if this conversion works maybe with a little bit of scrap styrene parts to make a cab brace. Thanks for what you do, this build inspired me to get these kits I haven't finished done when my arms are feeling better. I have rheumatoid arthritis and degenerative disk disease so bad I can barely do too much which includes playing guitar and working on my bicycle as well.

    Nice build. I just ordered this kit myself, a few days ago, so it’s a great primer to let me know what I’m getting into. I haven’t built a model since the 80s, when I was a teen, but I always loved the hobby. Sheltering in place has inspired me to get back into it. I’ve spent the last 27 years driving the full size versions of these things for a living, including many years spent in 4 different W900 KWs.
    My only critique (constructive, I hope) of your build is your choice in painting the stacks, wheels and tanks in the duller aluminum hue. The stacks on a W900 are usually stainless steel or chrome plated, but not aluminum, so they’re generally always “shiny,” unless the whole rig is dirty and dusty. Some customizers have powder-coated them black for an “outlaw” appearance, which would leave them looking flat or satiny.
    The tanks and wheels can look dull, as they’re made of aluminum and do get oxidized over time. Most drivers consider this to be an undesirable look and keep them polished to a mirror-like finish on the more customized owner/operator versions like the one you’ve built here. Many of them opt to paint the tanks body or frame colored to tie them into a certain look and avoid the labor involved in maintaining the polished look. Same with the rims, though most drivers tend to keep them polished, as opposed to painting them, and some rim manufacturers (Alcoa, for example) have developed a special “durabrite” coating that prevents the rims from getting dull and oxidized, and keeps them shiny with normal washing and rinsing.
    Please forgive me for this nitpicking, but you do some fantastic builds and I just wanted to give you the perspective of someone who’s dealt with these magnificent machines on an intimate and daily basis. I know from my own modeling experience, that accuracy to reality was always a goal in automotive builds.
    I can’t wait to see this coupled to the car-hauling trailer; truckers refer to those rigs as “parking lots.” It should look great on that tractor.

    • @northwexpress
      @northwexpress 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      3408 pulling cars, shouldn’t have many slow up hills. Tappercombey, you’re right about the chrome stacks. And Durabrite wheels, man they saved hours of polishing but didn’t show quite the high shine. The gullwing bumper by KW from about 1974 or 75 was, my estimation best design on the road. Yes, this is a VG model review and build video, thanks hpiguys!
