Steve Winwood’s reputation as a guitar prodigy at 14 preceded my hearing him in the Spenser Davis Group. I’d heard about this kid, ( I was also a kid lol) and while I liked SDG I totally remember where I was the first time I heard Traffic. Blind Faith blew me out of the water. I was so happy for him when he made his come back in the 80s. Since he came back on the organ I had a really hard time convincing ppl he was a guitar prodigy. A totally under appreciated musical genius.

Harri speaks the truth. Rock, Psychedelic, and the Blues. Can’t go wrong with that combination. Actually can’t go wrong with any two of these. Or any one of these.

I saw Steve Winwood open for Tom Petty in 2014
      He sounded amazing
      I can't believe it's going on 10 years
Tom Petty was incredible it was on 9/11 and Tom Petty reserved the front row section for veterans
      RIP Tom Petty ❤🙏🎸

As good as it gets for 60s vibe and sound, Steve Winwood in his best vehicle, the band Traffic, with a performance for the ages. This was a special band, do Low Spark of High Heeled Boys if you have not, if you have, do Medicated Goo. Great stuff, enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎷🎶

From the 1967 album, " Mr Fantasy", this song originated as a jam when they were unable to come up with a song. Based on a drawing, the lyrics represent a tortured artist who sacrifices his own happiness for his fans.
The great bass line, Capaldi's thumping kick drum accents, the heavy with lead guitars, double time grooves, Winwood's great vocals and Jimi Hendrix like solo and then the great tempo shifting finale, made this a staple song for most concerts.Great contributions from Dave Mason highlight this melody. Such a groovy tune. Great reaction Harri. Thanks Harri and Miss Blondie. ❤ 👏👏 Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦

I was playing drums for DAVID ALLAN COE back in the early 90s and DAVE MASON played the night before our show, so afew went to go check out his gig. He played this song as well as many TRAFFIC songs.
His band were DAVE on acoustic& electric guitars, a keyboard who played bass on keys, and a percusionist. We met DAVE MASON after his show& talked with him and he was one of the nicest guys you could meet, humble& down to earth, no ego, i'm glad he's still around rockin.😂

As you know, Miss B - Traffic and "Dear Mr. Fantasy" were some of the few Rock bands deemed "Supergroup" Rock bands, Cream being another. Winwood was a young teenage guitar prodigy with a masterful voice to accompany his mastery of the Hammond organ. Steve Winwood, who is still putting out great music today, I would consider to be one of Rock's most outstanding talents, and in my Top 10.
Wonderful submission and a great review. Thank you, Miss B and Harri. A full 5 Lava Lamps once again, Miss B.

Steve Winwood and Traffic wrote and played an amazing song, with awesome interplay and riffing by the band. Brent Mydland brought this tune to the boys in the Grateful Dead and when they covered it in concert, no studio recordings of "Dear Mr. Fantasy" by The Dead, he would sing it as well. And the crowd absolutely LOVED it. I would recommend listening to and reacting to the Version by the Grateful Dead as well. I think you would enjoy it very much Harry.

Steve Winwood can be seen playing keyboards at The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony when George Harrison was inducted posthumously for his solo career. Steve Winwood was joined on stage by other legendary artist, Tom Petty, Prince, Jeff Lynne, Billy Preston, Scott Thurston, Steve Ferrone, Dhani Harrison and others. The song they played that night was While My Guitar Gently Weeps.

Great tune and guitar work with a sound that melds Hendrix with The Who. I just wish Steve Winwood's vocals, although atmospheric, had been brought far more to the forefront in terms of volume. It was probably done for effect but I want to hear his voice more distinctly.

When this song came out the 60s love fest had just about hit the fan, run its course, gone to shit. Charles Manson was killing people in LA. Altamont had Hell's Angels stabbing some guy. Vietnam had wore us all OUT man. It isn't so much a song as it was a complaint. But I would rather hear Steve Winwood complaining than most people preaching the Gospel if you get my drift. It's great revisiting with you and getting in the mood for "groovy" music is timeless. Ha. Groovy! What a word. So out of date?
