Make it snappy, guys! As an old geezer who was 14 in 1967 when Mr. Fantasy came out, I've got to say it's great watching you guys react to all this music I grew up with and never stopped loving. I honestly get a charge out of knowing something recorded 53 years ago can still be appreciated by people hearing it for the first time.

"Low Spark of High Heeled Boys" is the next logical choice -- an incredible eery, jazzy, melodic sound unlike anything. Steve Winwood being a serious vocal talent in this band, as well as previous band Spencer Davis Group "I'm a Man" and "Gimme Some Lovin" when he was SIXTEEN years old... ! Then he was in Blind Faith with Eric Clapton, and later had a brilliant solo career starting in 1980 with "Arc of the Diver". Steve Winwood is such a class act.

@@Grovesgeo In the studio, Mason only played bass on "Dear Mr. Fantasy", "Dealer", and "Cryin' to be Heard", although he played more bass live (Mason, Winwood, and Wood split the bass duties live). Winwood played most bass on the records. There's live footage of the original lineup playing "Giving To You" showing Mason on lead guitar (Winwood organ, Wood flute, Capaldi drums of course). @Andy & Alex if you haven't heard the "Dear Mr. Fantasy" from 'Welcome to the Canteen' it's well worth it!

My wife and I attended a small and intimate triple-bill concert more than two decades ago, and Traffic guitarist Dave Mason (whose fretwork we heard on this song) and his band were the third act on the bill. It was an on-the-lawn concert, and we sat about three feet from the stage. At the end of his excellently performed set, he asked the audience for a song to perform as his encore. We requested this song, and he PLAYED THE HECK OUT OF IT. His guitar defied physical laws by not instantaneously combusting in his hands during that song.
If you get the chance to see Dave Mason perform with his own backing band, I recommend that you take the necessary steps to attend that performance...and make it snappy.

One of my favorite songs! I saw them sing it live in concert and yes, they made it snappy! Jim Capaldi, the drummer, was an amazing musician, writer, and singer (although Steve Winwood sang for Traffic). Capaldi had solo albums and was incredible with his cover of " Oh Lord, Why Lord" with Eric Clapton ripping the guitar. Winwood is also known for his involvement in The Spencer Davis Group ("Gimme Some Lovin") and Blind Faith. Also in Traffic are Dave Mason and Chris Woods. Tight band and all incredible musicians in their own right. Thank you. I loved this reaction!

“Make it Snappy” you have to realize there is a genealogy in Rock, Steve Winwood was in the Spencer Davis Group, Blind Faith, and Traffic! If you think of it this way, every band and or group has the “DNA” of other bands that you can follow and hear how an artist matured in their performance, style, creativity. To really appreciate Rock, and other genres, study the artists, like Jimmy Hendrix for example, he was with the acts like the Isley Brothers, Little Richard and then discovered by Keith Richard’s girlfriend and Chas Chandler of The Animals. Go back and listen from the 50’s thru the 60’s and 70’s to hear how the sound evolved. I’m just an old Boomer Music Nerd who was lucky to have grown up in those times. Rock🤘

If there's a reason to not give this song an 'S', it's because you have yet to hear their masterpiece, 'Low Spark of High Heeled Boys'. This song really doesn't introduce you to Chris Wood, who is a phenomenal woodwind player. Oddly enough, the guy playing the big guitar chops in this song was the keyboardist in a little ole band called Blind Faith, whose lead guitar player was Eric Clapton. Happy 4th guys!

Other songs? "Low Spark..." and "No Face No Name No Number" are a must, as is "Paper Sun". "Can't find my way home" (which I cover in my own gigs!) and "Sea of Joy" - both by Winwood's later band Blind Faith. And also some of the blue-eyed soul he did with Spencer Davis Group - "Keep on Running" (those vocals - from a teenager. Astounding.)

Hey guys. You remember the reaction you did to the 'Chicago' song "I'm A man"? Well the song writer that wrote that song was Steve Winwood. The reason I am bringing that song and your reaction up in this reaction to this Traffic song is as follows. The person in this song that is both singing the vocals and playing the lead guitar is Steve Winwood. It is these types of details and interlacing of music, band members, song writers that make reviewing music fun, interesting and sometimes mind blowing when following the roots of all music. This is why I love music and why I follow music reaction reviewers. SO I can sometimes impart knowledge and wisdom onto y'all. Traffic was a great band started by Steve after he and Dave Mason left the Spencer Davis Group. Remember the name Dave Mason because somewhere down the line you will do reactions to his music, I guarantee. You will also be doing reactions to the Spencer Davis Group in the future. But as far as Traffic goes, these are the next songs of theirs that you will need to look at reviewing. Also check out the original "I'm A Man" by them.
The absolute Must Do Songs: The Low Spark Of The High-Heeled Boys(There most famous song), John Barleycorn Must Die, Light Up Or Leave Me Alone, Rainmaker, Sad And Deep As You(The saddest song you will ever here).
Strongest 2nd's to look at: 40,000 Headmen, Gimme Some Lovin', Freedom Rider, Many A Mile To Freedom, Shouldn't Have Took More Than You Gave.
All the songs above are great songs, please try to do at least some of them, you will be surprisingly rewarded with the Best Bold Burnin' Bistro of Boiler maker Banger's Bouncing Broadly off Brown Boards at your Back Banding the Borders Of your Bodice as Boulders of Bees like Bandits Bering Burdens of symphonic Beats Booted and Born of Balancing Big Blue audio waves Beginning from Behind to Bellow, Bother and wail Breaking at the Brim of your Brain Beguiling y'all with Bombastic Bombs making eyes Bend out blindly and Blowing Black Boogers Blasting from your nostrils Bleak Brazen Blazing Bowls of Beautiful Boiling Brandy.

Make it snappy! Next songs from Traffic - "Low Spark of High Heeled Boys" and "John Barleycorn Must Die" which is there version of an old folk tune.

Little grasshoppers...... there is so much more for you to hear and experience. Happy for you.
My generation was over saturated and spoiled by an abundance of super significant sauce.

Growing up in the late 60’s and early 70’s in South Tampa we all loved Traffic. Other bands at the time like Blind Faith, Cream, CCR, Frank Zappa and The Mothers of Invention. Seeing Jimi Hendrix at Curtis Hixson Hall at 14 with best friends older brother I will never forget. Those were the days and I really miss those times. Only 3 main channels on tv, no computers, no cell phones but that would’ve been nice to have. Times were much simpler. Playing all day, fishing, baseball and listening to latest albums or 45’s of some of the greatest bands still popular today but knowing soon we were going to give in to the establishment and get a job, college or fight a unpopular war. Music was always there. Another real popular song was The Hollies song He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother.

I too recommend "The Low Spark Of High Heeled Boys". In high school it was my favorite late night, in the dark, headphone song.

Guys: You need to check out another 70's band: The Raspberries. Check out "Go All the Way" and "I Wanna Be With You"...two BANGERS!

Absolutely! It's history in a song..."Go All the Way," was banned from several states for inferred content plus it's an over the top banger for the time!
