Would the FORScan lite (smartphone) show us the door ajar and alarm issues? I'm going to figure this out soon? $5.99 google play store $10 bluetooth reader?
I have the forscan V2.3.33 beta and the recommended OBD adapter connects works good. I cannot find the data logger nor can I find the anywhere to get to the security alarms. Any ideas. On my forscan my icons are on the left side of the screen vertically.
Dropping in with a comment to say, THANK YOU! My car had this issue and it drove me insane. I tried taking it into a shop for diag, but they couldn't replicate the issue of course, so this video saved me! Super appreciate it, especially having the parts linked in the description.
Is there a Forscan adapter for 2003 windstar sir ? Your channel has taught me so much. Thank you for helping so many people who can't afford mechanics having to learn how to do things in our driveways.
Thank you for your professional and helpful videos. The WD-40 soak worked great and as you said was temporary. It solved the problem for about a month and got me through today on my 2014 F150 STX .
Very helpful! My '04 Escape started acting "twitchy" when I shut it off...a few weird flashes on the dash and maybe/maybe not the key fob would lock it. When the fob worked, the alarm would go off within 20 minutes or so. I elected to skip all the diagnostics and just WD-40 and exercise the heck out of all the door/hatch/hatch window latches as well as exercise the hood open sensor. Victory! I don't know which latch was the guilty culprit, but my money is on the driver's door. Any-hoo, 4 days later and everything is ok! Thanks for the video tips!
Wish I had come across this before paying $130 "diagnosis fee" to the dealership last year. Their response? "We weren't able to replicate the problem." As in, we parked it in our garage for a few hours and nothing happened. Basically paid for an expensive parking spot.
I have a 2000 mercury sable that had the horn alarm going off on its own at anytime. I found a solution on a ford forum site where this guy figured out how to stop it. All you need to do is this. When you get out of your car all the locks are on. The driver door unlocks when you open it to get out. Then depress the door lock button. What you re doing is not setting the alarm using your electronic door locker which is what activates the alarm mode. My friends across the street were thrilled! Haaa.

You relied on logged history in OBD to get you headed in the right direction. I have a similar problem with 2 escapes and random alarms. I'm using Forscan/OBDLink MX and a BlueDriver scanner but neither seem to be able to retrieve the stored events. All the latch sensors seem to be behaving fine during live inspection so I'm kinda stuck. If my tools can't see it, I'll want to check with a diagnostic center -- what would they need to have to be able to get this information? THanks for all you do.
Thanks a lot again for a great video. I have a Ford Fusion Zetec but I have found different wires for the ajar switches. One being green/vt & bk/wh. I don't know where to clarify this. Thanks for any info. Keep safe you and yours.
Maybe you could install the Forscan software on your lap top and give us an over view of how we can use this software. I know your fond of your Ford software but we can't afford that stuff.
Make sure to buy the elm27 with the ms-can/hs-can switch. I had to add the switch to read the door ajar circuit with the forscan software for my 2006 escape. The link he has up is to the elm327 with hs-can only.
Had this same issue with my 2002 Ford explorer. Tracked it down to the passenger front door. Ended up having to get a new door ajar switch because the old one was physically stuck in the open position. The switches aren't cheap for the explorers and hard to find for the passenger side since they rarely go out.
Thank you for posting these how to videos. I have learned from them and enjoyed the content. Quick question I hope you can help with. We have an 05 Escape we have had since new and is now on the second child driving it. I have done the bypass of the door ajar switch on all four doors. But now the door chime goes off when the vehicle is in reverse or drive. I may have bypassed the wrong wire in the drivers door as I did not have a diagram for the wiring and think I bypassed the same color wire as passenger door. I f I did this correctly is there a way to disable the door chime? I thought the bypass of the door ajar switch tricked the computer into thinking the doors are closed. Any way the alarm has not gone off since doing the bypass. Thanks again hope you have some advice for this situation.

I dont have the tech to get these readings on my 2002 ford explorer. Is there a way for me to just disable my alarm altogether? My neighbors have called the cops on me twice for my alarm going off at random times in the night. I just leave the battery unhooked at this point.
I got a used 2001 Ford Excursion Limited (7.3L Diesel V8), but the owner only had a single, ordinary all-metal key (no chip, no spare). The vehicle still starts with the ordinary key, no problem. The problem I'm having is whenever I open any of the doors, the interior lights and the running board lights go on and stay on, even after I shut the door... this happens whenever I open any of the doors. Eventually (maybe after 30 minutes) the lights shut off. During the time when they are on, I've noticed the "Theft" light on the dash blinks every three seconds. I've tried lubricating all the door latches, but that didn't resolve the issue. What would you recommend?
Hey how are you? I have a question about my 2008 Ford Sport Trac! All of a sudden, the chime that alerts you about lights being on or seat belt not connected. How do I get the sound back? Thank you
What if your car locks and the interior lights are coming on as your driving and at times when parked as well? Plus the auto headlight feature is not working. The car is a 2002 Ford Taurus SEL. The alarm will also go off for no reason after its parked and locked with the key fob. What should be checked and in what order? It's possessed just like that movie Christine!
Hi, I have a 2015 platinum and after very, very cold (minus temps) and rain, the security system is going nuts! Honking, puddle lights on, etc. Please tell me what software/program you use on your laptop to see the sensor fail data...is it Forscan? Are the Forscan units that are for sale any good for this? I really like the data shown on your laptop screen as it is large and easy to see. Your videos are the best. THANK YOU so much! Jon Francis
I have a 2007 Escape that when it is parked and doors are locked alarm will randomly go off on occasion. I have isolated it to the drivers door. My question is I don't get any door ajar light or dome light coming on etc, no alarm coming on while driving, would this still be a door ajar switch or could it be another switch? I have found if I leave the drivers door unlocked while parked alarm doesn't go off or it hasn't the last couple of days. I tried spraying like you described though I had a temporary fix but alarm went off again. The only thing that works is leaving drivers door unlocked. Your input would be deeply appreciated.
I downloaded FORScan software (Windows 2.3.28) Set it up on my laptop but can't figure out how to get to the screen you are using to detect the door ajar problem
I have a '13 Explorer XLT w/tow. Intermittent door ajar for front passenger and driver doors. I removed the passenger door to inspect wiring. Did not see any short, pulled, bare wires. No worn, chaffed or pinched wire insulation or wrapping. At the time of repair only passenger door ajar light was failed. So I unplugged the lock assembly connector and jumped black w/ yellow stripe. The on-dash door ajar light worked normal as it was unplugged and plugged back in. The door latch assembly was replaced immediately. I have not seen a false passenger or driver doors1 ajar light since. So I have a question. If one intermittent latch assembly failure can cause a false intermittent error on the other door too?
Sure enough 10days later the drivers door failed. Spraying helped for a couple days then needed to be sprayed everytime. Had the latch assembly already so removed and replaced. Problem solved. bought from O'rielys 130ea lifetime **shrugs** look just like chinese on ebay pictures that are 30. 1hr repair time each. 25min if experienced
Do you know what would cause alarm to go off once you unlock the door and the only way to stop it is to press and hold the button under the dash? This is for a 2012 Taurus SHO
I have a problem I need some advice with....when I lock my doors my car starts! I do have the alarm issue and it's been annoying me for several years and my rear hatch opens sometimes and other times it won't, but this week when I lock the car it starts so I could really use some advice with that.
I bought the exact Ideashop® ELM327 WIFI adapter linked in this video information and it cannot access the perimeter door PIDS described in the vehicle. Am I doing something wrong, is there a setting I'm missing, or is it the wrong adapter for this use?
I have a ford flex 2013 known for that and i took it to an electrician guy and all the did was ground the wires so it always shows close even if the door is open. will i be able to undo that?
Regards, I have a ford fusion 2007 and the audible alarms do not work, you know if they can be fixed by forscan, or what replacement I must do to repair it, thanks
I ran FORSCAN on my 98 ford ex v6 SOHC and it gave me the code for 4X4 high circuit shorted/open circuit or something similar to that. How do i even begin to work on this? Is it something on the inside of the tranny? Or could this be something caused by a bad ground?
So what scan tool are you using? FORScan? I am having trouble with my 2013 Expedition alarm going off randomly, can I use the FORScan software with the ELM237 to trouble shoot which door is causing the issue?
Love your videos! I'm having this same issue with a 2004 escape. I ran IDS on it and all the alarm events(8) show panic?? I'm not hitting the panic button and this happens regardless of physical location or proximity of the key to the vehicle. Any idea what could cause a PANIC alarm???
@@tatertots-n-soup thanks for the tip. I thought that could be the issue so I replaced both batteries but still have the issue. Seems to be isolated to the drivers door. Anytime the door is locked and the alarm is set it trips. Always shows panic alarm in IDS. I gave up and we just don't lock the door anymore.
After doing the door latch assebly wire jumper test I was convinced enough to buy both front door Dorman latch assemblies from local trusted parts store. It solved the door ajar dash light and the false alarms have stopped. They never logged an event on 2013 explorer.
So I purchased the scan tool and software but I can’t seem to figure out how to find my alarm history. I noticed that the software interface has changed since this video was posted and hope that they didn’t remove that feature. Anyone know?

I've got a ford explorer with the alarm randomly going off, and I know its either the driver door or the flip up window in the back. Both of these are not closing quite right (i have to slam the driver door to get it shut and the window in back won't close completely flush). Does anyone know if the flip up window would make the system say door ajar ? I'd appreciate if anyone knows or can check and report back. Many thanks in advance if you can.
Hello man . I have this problem with my Ford Expedition car 2005. I want to ask , If I use w40 , maybe it's will be work or I have to open door and check fuse . Thank You Very Much ❤️
Hi, I have Forscan talking to my 2005 Ford Escape but I don't see anything (PID) for door ajar, security, etc.. I downloaded the latest version of Forscan V 2.3.4 Beta. . It looks different than yours. Is there a certain version that has Security, Door alarms, included? I appreciate your video but it would have been nice if you explained what exactly is needed to get this information. Is the PID in the adapter itself? Is it in the professional add-on? Where the hell is it? LOL Thanks
I was never able to see the error. I believe you have to purchase a better USB adapter that includes the door ajar alarms. My problem seems to have gone away for now. I removed the fuse for while then put it back. Now the problem is gone. Good luck..
Hey I have a 96 ranger it will turn over but fuel pump not working jumped fuel pump and its ok. Had theft light on but not now . I wonder about pats on it.VERY irritated.
I have this exact problem , but with the driver door of my 2007 Ford Escape XLT. I have identified the black/white wire, but the door does not have a blue wire. Does anyone happen to know the color of the other wire?
FordTechMakuloco I used to live in the San Fernando Valley (Granada Hills) and it was also very nice but houses were crowded together, I was a kid back then and luckily my family got to see a lot of the state. I'd love to live near La Jolla (beach town near S.D). Thanks for your work and videos Brian, your helping folks in need and giving some of us an amazing picture postcard of great places too.
FordTechMakuloco Have you stopped in at any of the local dealers during your travels, thought maybe out of curiosity you might see how they compared with your old store.
Hey I'm having a similar problem 06 escape 3.0 on the snap on scanner the D,RR,LR,and tail door say closed when open I jumpe the wires like u did and they stay closed any ideas why??
My rear passenger door sensor causes the door ajar alarm to intermittently go on and off while driving. Is it possible to short this out and not have to replace the part?
Thank you for everything you do, I love your videos, they have helped me greatly. I have a 2005 Escape and the PIDs for the doors (or even the modules you reference in the comments) do not show in forscan. I only get a couple of modules (ODBII, PCM, 4X4M, ABS,IC,RCM). Do you think it could be a crummy ELM 327 adapter?
Did you ever solve your door problem? I have a 2005 Escape w/door ajar problem. I bought a cable and have Forscan v2.3.4 running but it seems limited. I see no door, security, alarm, etc..
It did. You need to have the other modules to show the alarm and door statuses. This is what I ended up getting and it works awesomely. www.amazon.com/ScanTool-426101-OBDLink-Bluetooth-Professional/dp/B006NZTZLQ
I might buy a f150 1997 I went to get gas and I shut the door and the alarm went off what do u think should I buy it some guy opened the door shut it lock it unlock it and it started
this is a very good video. however if it were broken wire making contact once opened this could complicate things. always test things in their natural state of when the problem is occurring (door closed). on the other hand, this is a ford so less problems with wiring than some other vehicles.
My Daughters 06 Escape is experiencing these problems , but the car won't start as well. Has anyone else had this problem? Is this part of the alarm system?
HI Brian, I've been subbed to your channel for several years and appreciate your videos. I have a 2005 escape with a DR PDL actuator that's not working. I have confirmed that all the door ajar switches work, including the one for the RR door. Initially when I first got the escape last month, I had a flickering dome light and the door ajar light on the dash flickered at the same time. I thought I had an ajar switch issue, but I cleaned all the body grounds I could find and that issue has not occurred since. When I pull the RR door panel off and disconnect the wire harness plug to the actuator assy, can I back probe one of the wires to check for power for the door lock actuator? I'd be using a 12v test light for this. If so, do you know what color the wire is I need to check? I'd like to confirm it's an actuator issues and not a wiring issue before I buy the actuator assembly. Thanks for your help, I appreciate it. -Greg
It would have been much more helpful if you had done this in your garage so we could see the screen on your laptop. Too much glare to be useful in understanding how to use the FORScan software.
Hi! I am having this problem and purchased the OBDLink MX bluetooth device. I have connected it to my laptap and can see the software. The problem is, I don't know what I'm looking for. There are no "alarms" or issues to resolve. My question is, I wonder if I need to purchase the additonal Ford software as well? There's no great instructions as to the name of the sensors or alarms I'm looking for. Does that make sense? My knowledge on this is so extremely small, I don't know if I'm communicating my questions well :) Thanks!
Ok. I see that it's the GEM module that houses the door alarms. But it says I have no issues to solve. HELP!! I definitely have issues. I just sprayed last night with WD40 but I haven't driven anywhere yet. I have a 4-hour drive coming up on Monday and will go nuts if it alarms the whole time. Interestingly, I noticed it didn't do it AT ALL during the winter. The hotter it gets, the more it happens. Any thoughts on that?
Too technical. Maybe video meant for the pros. Could we get some easy tutorials for the novice who has no diagnostic tool at his disposal but wants a first aid for his vehicle alarm? Thanks.
ELM 327 OBD Adapter you MUST use-

I have tried this adapter. However with my 2005 escape I cannot get it to read the GEM module. What should I do to find the right door sensor?
I need ti find someone in Houston TX with FORScan, I have a 2006 Ford Escape with alarm issues, I replace the hood ajar switch that did help some.
Would the FORScan lite (smartphone) show us the door ajar and alarm issues? I'm going to figure this out soon? $5.99 google play store $10 bluetooth reader?
can you do an update with the new forscan? I'm going thry the alarm issue and the new forscan does not look like this?

I do have the alarm issue and it's been annoying me for several years and my rear hatch opens sometimes and other times it won't, but this week when I lock the car it starts so I could really use some advice with that.
how about with a 2021 f-150 lariat having alarm going off in the middle of the night while parked inside a garage... ??? any hints?
I have the 2007 escape for my daughter and having the same issue. Cannot locate the VSM.
Nice work! How many miles have you racked up on the truck so far on your summer tour? You've been all over!
+klc317 12,500 miles racked up on the tour.
Hi, were you able to find the problem?
Weak fob battery can trip the alarm. Make sure both remotes have good batteries
Where did you get to scan tool and software?
I have an F350 with a door ajar light on the dash. Could Forscan tell me which door is acting up?
I have a 99 crown victoria and the rear passenger door won't activate the dome light. Suggestions?
Do you know how to turn off the seatbelt minder on a 2015 explorer with my key?? Great video BTW!!

Deactivating and Activating the Belt-Minder Feature
WARNING: While the system allows you to deactivate it, this
system is designed to improve your chances of being safely
belted and surviving an accident. We recommend you leave the system
activated for yourself and others who may use the vehicle. To reduce
the risk of injury, do not deactivate or activate the system while driving
the vehicle.
Note: The driver and front passenger warning are deactivated and
activated independently. When deactivating or activating one seating
position, do not buckle the other position as this will terminate the
process.
Read Steps 1 - 4 thoroughly before proceeding with the programming
procedure.
Before following the procedure, make sure that:
• The parking brake is set.
• The transmission is in park (P).
• The ignition is off.
• The driver and front passenger safety belts are unbuckled.
1. Turn the ignition on. Do not start the engine.
2. Wait until the safety belt warning light turns off (about one minute).

3. Wait 10 seconds after the safety belt warning light turns off.
• Step 4 must be completed within 20 seconds after the completion of
Step 3.
4. For the seating position being disabled, buckle then unbuckle the
safety belt three times at a moderate speed, ending in the unbuckled
state.
• After Step 4, the safety belt warning light will be turned on for three
seconds.
5. Within about seven seconds of the light turning off, buckle then
unbuckle the safety belt.
• This will disable the feature for that seating position if it is currently
enabled.
• This will enable the feature for that seating position if it is currently
disabled.
where is he buzzer located? Can i cut the wire or disconnect he buzzer?
I've got a ford explorer with the alarm randomly going off, and I know its either the driver door or the flip up window in the back. Both of these are not closing quite right (i have to slam the driver door to get it shut and the window in back won't close completely flush). Does anyone know if the flip up window would make the system say door ajar ? I'd appreciate if anyone knows or can check and report back. Many thanks in advance if you can.
Hello man .
I have this problem with my Ford Expedition car 2005.
I want to ask ,
If I use w40 ,
maybe it's will be work or I have to open door and check fuse .
Good luck..
Where did you get your scan tool how much was it
Ford IDS
Hey I have a 96 ranger it will turn over but fuel pump not working jumped fuel pump and its ok. Had theft light on but not now . I wonder about pats on it.VERY irritated.
do you replace the module for the fix?
I have this exact problem , but with the driver door of my 2007 Ford Escape XLT. I have identified the black/white wire, but the door does not have a blue wire. Does anyone happen to know the color of the other wire?
I have the problem with door ajar on my 96 Ford Explorer, but I don't have any way to find out which door it is.
hi bro can i send 12 volts to trigger factory alarm ?
Since 1983 to me is the last of the best line up of ford 1984 and new is nothing worth the metal it’s made of
Great diagnostic video!
Wow that is some beautiful country where you are. Is that north east of LA?
+watershed44 Yes Frazier Park California.
Yep I was in La Jolla too.
FordTechMakuloco Have you stopped in at any of the local dealers during your travels, thought maybe out of curiosity you might see how they compared with your old store.
watershed44 Just the ones in Arizona it was a huge new one though.
Possible but stupid. Just fix it instead of..
+Aaron Blount I ended up getting a new adapter. It turns out that the really cheap ones sometimes don't have all the modules.

My door jam broke...rusted apart...in open position...car wouldn't move. The car Anti-Theft system shut it down. Had to call roadside assistance.
I might buy a f150 1997 I went to get gas and I shut the door and the alarm went off what do u think should I buy it some guy opened the door shut it lock it unlock it and it started
can't body security in my Forscan Software what one do i need to down load
How do you just turn the alarm system off?
the spraying inside always works for me...
Thanks for doing more then WD.
this is a very good video. however if it were broken wire making contact once opened this could complicate things. always test things in their natural state of when the problem is occurring (door closed). on the other hand, this is a ford so less problems with wiring than some other vehicles.
Why does my alarm go off when I start my 1994 Ford F-150?
What is the car scan app is called?
My wife's only does it when you put it in gear and it say's driver's side door ajar could it be the same problem
what module is the event stored in?
I'm being told the GEM mod
Thank you
My Daughters 06 Escape is experiencing these problems , but the car won't start as well. Has anyone else had this problem? Is this part of the alarm system?
Great video thank you so much Mark mangano dependable auto wartburg tennessee
EASY!!!!!!!! Are you kidding........EASY....
Lolol
what an awesome tech. thanks for the tips

So much glare.
Sure was sun heading down I am just glad the gopro can handle it instead of just giving up and darkening the item being recorded.
You could see the screen, but YUK! It is about normal for a mechanic to have problems like this. :-)
I love our Taurus but I also fucking hate it, I just keep the pos unlocked and hope no one wants to snoop around in there
Dude most people don’t have that type of diagnostics.
There are many free scan tool options that only require a $35 adapter.
@@FordTechMakuloco which ones will show this?

Too technical. Maybe video meant for the pros. Could we get some easy tutorials for the novice who has no diagnostic tool at his disposal but wants a first aid for his vehicle alarm? Thanks.
very basic stuff here.
I see your kid he's like me I'm 14 I'm trying to fix my dad ford escape
