hi man sorry for my english im from germany.
i also rebuilt my afh engine in my polo.
if you have problems with finding the right valve cover gasket i can highly recommend you the gasket from autodoc from the brand AJUSA i paid around 30 Euro for the gasket, i couldnt find the gasket anywhere, even my volkswagen part guy didnt had it.

In a fun engine like this would you ever consider installing a fumoto drain valve for the oil pan?

I don't mind having a normal drain plug, but I have upgraded it off camera to a magnetic one 😊
