I'm thinking about getting the whole assembly from a salvage yard and retrofit it in my 2005. Can't wait to get rid of the "Lifetime" air cleaner assembly. Anyone else attempt this with success?

I managed to open my filter. All it took was strength and wiggling. It will come off with time !!
Holy shit man. The last two notches are a real bitch and a half to to wedge loose. I wish Ford would make stuff easier

My 2008 ford focus ses 2 door coupe I have googled it and it said that it has a permanent air filter that you don't have to change. Is this true?
yes but you can change it to the filter he has. It's on Amazon.
