I can't tell you how valuable this content is. I play a ton of tournaments. It's astounding to me how there can be a five stroke difference (or more) in my game from day to day depending on who I'm playing with. I recognize that as the mental aspect, being comfortable and looking forward to every shot as an individual challenge is key.

We Americans take the Golf Range route because we cannot afford to get an instructor, we have to "TH-cam" Golf Instructors because they are free, and have to contend with hand-me-down equipment from relatives, or found on some 2nd hand Golf store, (outdate equipment). We have to earn a living, pay mortgages, car, cell phones, education for kids, and above all have time to do all that. It is a "Luxury" to go to the range, not alone have the proper golfing equipment to become good at. one round is costing around $70 to $100, add a bucket of Range Balls, and that price goes to $90 to $120.
My biggest issue (at least initially) is finding the right teacher. I live part time in Hillsboro, Oregon and Oahu. I’m 68 years old. What guidelines can you provide on how to go about finding the right teacher for an older student?
I would imagine that removing the age aspect from it would benefit you. Maybe rather see it as just learning from your part and a good teacher is bound to follow that mentality.
@@thabomokwele7059 possibly true. Although I know that the good golf swing for young bucks and does is different for older folks because we just don’t have the flexibility. Many golf pros and teachers don’t understand that difference.

At the very beginning it sounds GREAT! BUT . . . When you dig the info - Facts of American Golf by PGA statistics, as a Nation, our Scores have never improved, both Male & Females scores have remained the same in over 25 plus years! It is nice to read all those PGA samples . . . but what about the rest of us. The people that do not have the means, time, and golfing equipment. What about the Common Ordinary people that want to improve on their Golf journey. Starting with Golf equipment: Avg $350 to $1500 for a set of Irons, another $300 for putters, another $39 to $65 on golf balls, $125 on wedges, $200 on Golf Bags, $200 on Golf Shoes, and another $X on golf gadgets, (Money, Money, Money . . . on a Poor-mans world!" While Dr. Rotella has made millions on all his books, the Average Golfer has been made "Poor" by the quest of getting better at golf! Why is that? How in the world did that happen?

And yes from what I can the see gap between the ‘haves’ and the ‘haves nots’ has never been bigger… and you are also providing us with an excellent life lesson: Don’t be ordinary or average, life in the middle is very hard and feels like it’s only getting harder. As for the why the scores haven’t changed for the ‘average’ player… well unlike the real world the amateur game plays its competitions around handicap scoring (net/stableford) instead of gross. You can literally shoot 90 and ‘beat’ the guy that shot 68 that day… thus the ‘need’ to shot lower scores isn’t always worth the effort unlike at the competitive levels of the game that reflect the real world more closely…
Where is the Psychology then? The majority of American Golfers are "Professional Hackers" because we honestly have no other means to get better at golf. Golf is hard, and it becomes even harder as we age. Then the second reason why we cannot become better at the sport, is the PGA . . . Golf Companies milk the money from all American Golfers, and they do it at a fast rate, and without remorse. There is nothing wrong to go out at a Municipal Golf Course, and play golf with three of your best friends . . . So, what if we shot 120 plus, so what. The world will not stop from spinning if we shot that score, can we get better, yes, we can, but can we afford it? No, we cannot. How about if all Golf companies decided to cut back on their pricing and offer all their equipment at a discount. Does it really take a "PGA Instructor" to teach golf . . . I know of several average golf players who have help many improve their golf game, or those who have come through the ranks self-taught, and they have a wonderful game!
