    yea, you totally dont remove and replace like this.. your life would of been alot easier by just removing and replacing the lower arm driver side, then remove and replace the upper arm passenger side, then remove and replace upper arm driver side and finally remove and replace lower arm passenger side. Doing so would prevent minimal axle movement and allow you to easily replace fustration at a minimal.

      I was following apoc instructions on this one. The next one i will try your method out. I use to do both top ones then bottom last. Wanted to try their method to see if it was any easier.

    Ok- I had mine delivered. Had to take the sawzall to the lower bolts. I did keep the tyres on during this, and I used a buddy to try and move the wheel, it just moved enough to slip both bolts in.

      Thank you.. Best to my knowledge center outside wheel with wheel still on if you can. My opinion is take it to an alignment shop. Saves you money in the long run. I've always limp them to the shop for alignment. I think most come off the assembly line with driver side bolt at 11:30 and passenger side at 12:00 that I've seen anyway

    Would you know the measurements for adjustable control arms for a 2001 dodge ram 3500 4x4 with a 3.5 front level lift ?

  • @Lmiller201
    @Lmiller201 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Without the manufacturers help, how do you figure the correct measurements? Got a rough country adjustable control arms for a 2" lift with leveling kit. After the install, took it for an alignment and the tech ran the control arms all the way in. I know this is wrong, and the springs have since shifted so they are not centered. I'm about to replace the ball joints and want to correct this issue when I do, for obvious reasons.

    • @isolateddieselperformance3261

They said there is no set measurements, just run it out a 1/4” set it down to see if it centers it up, and keep doing that until it gets where it needs to be. So I guess I get to spend a day jacking the truck up and down because an alignment tech didn’t know what was doing and the shop that put the lift on doesn’t want to help once they’ve sent the lift out the door.

      I have a video on a 3 inch lift and another one on ajustiable track bar. Basically remove your 6 inch shocks springs and rear blocks and replace with the 3 inch kit. Your existing ajustiable control arms and ajustiable track bar which you should have both with your 6inch lift should adjust down for a 3 inch lift.

    • @richboulder253
      @richboulder253 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the reply , I appreciate it . I thought I only had to buy a 3 inch lift and replace springs and blocks but a shop told me they had to cut and weld stock parts back on .. I didn’t believe them !
      I don’t think the person previous owner who lifted my truck put the adjustable track bar or the adjustable control arms on because the end links rub on the springs . It has worn a grove in the springs from rubbing so many years . so the axle never got centered.
      I was thinking on going with the set up you went with and I am wondering are you happy with the whole kit ?

    • @isolateddieselperformance3261
      @isolateddieselperformance3261  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My plan was to disconnect them before I started to install new arms but I didn't think I would have to lower the axle so much to get the old ones out first because other trucks I've done in the past I didn't have to lower so low. Oh well new rule is disconnect before you start disassembly. Lesson learned.

    I’m putting 3 inch lift coils on my 2004 ram 3500 and I ordered the rough country adjustable control arms. I have no idea what the length needs to be. They aren’t high clearance both top and bottom are straight. Anyways I was just curious where you got your information. I got ahold of the guys I bought my lift from and they are clueless. I would bet that my measurement would be exactly the same as these you just installed.

    • @isolateddieselperformance3261
      @isolateddieselperformance3261  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your new control arms should come with a chart telling you what measurement you will set the control arms at for what ever lift size you have which in your case will be 3 inches. Make sure you read the directions because different companies measure from different points of the control arms. Mine was from end to end. Rough Country might be from end to end or from center of bolt hole to bolt hole. If by chance it doesn't come with a chart just look on their website for install instructions. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!
