This is wonderful! I LOVE all the "old" (relatively) footage of UB routines. Each side of my pelvis has little indentations from all belly-bashing we did (way) back then. I'm not sorry to see that has died out, but it does seem that we've lost the ability to use both bars as creatively.
Old bars moves and beam dismounts just blow my mind. The old bars just seem so comical to me. All the flopping around. And so many of the dismount on beam (and bars occasionally) were so simple you'd never get away with them in today's code of points. Gymnastics has changed so much.
Thanks, I didn't know who Yang Yun was and I just looked her up and was amazed by her performances in all the aparatus!! I plan to do another vid like this before the Olympics next year and she'll be included for sure!! Thanks again!
man, bars have changed so much since. its neither better nor worse just completely different. a shame we won't get to see a lot of those old skills anymore cuz they're so unique
@DarkEyeEagle I think you are referring to the other one, the little one, the one that did the four on a row, that's Dominique Moceanu, she was 14 at the time, she's now 28.
The Yurchenko loop? Check out Tatiana Groshkova- she did it it in combination with side flic-flacs. Or Elvire Teza, she did it with a full twist first.
I don't remember at what competition was this but I think it was back in 2004... you can see her name on the far right of the screen... though the quality is not very good and you have to have very good sight heheheheh
Entonces te invito a ver mi montaje de Khorkina. ;) Ella también es una de mis favoritas. Y las "Magnificent 7" me traen buenos recuerdos fue en esas Olimpiadas que me hice fan. :)
@GravityPowerful soviet union was a union formed from 15 states, not a single state( i must mention here that you must not confund soviet union whit russia who was just a state of the 15) therefore the best nation in gymnastics was romania because won 3 olimpics(medals: 23 gold,15 silver,20 bronze) which is extraordinary considering that romania has 20 milion people versus soviet union-300 mil,usa-310mil,china-1,3 bilion people. so ROMANIA is a gymnastics factory. (sorry for my english)
1:22 What the fuck? That doesn't seem logical, impossible, the most fucking incredible dismount I have ever seen that was RIDICULOUS. Sorry about cussing, but seriously what the SHIT?
and another thing, Russia itself without significant contribution of the other 14 states that formed the Soviet Union, has not won even one Olympics, may from now only has a chance to show if he can do this and I wish you luck because Russian school gym is very good and I personally like a lot of gymnasts from Russia. good luck, Russia to London in 2012.
@djprojectus It tells the story of 'the Soviet Union to a Russian xD?!? For more communist. Soviet Union was a unique nation because it was not only Russia and Ukraine will one only belarus etc. .. etc. .. (how many stupid people still think calling the Soviet Union''Russia'') WAS SIMPLY THE SOVIET UNION. SO SAVE THE SERMONS Soviet Union was FIRST.
I just wanted to show a simple historical fact, namely that the Soviet Union was a state but a union of states which fortunately did not last, so after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 15 states as it should be, Russia has failed to beat Romania at the Olympics, and this is an irrefutable truth, I'm sorry for you that you can not accept history as it is not the way you want to be the Soviet Union will never return.

Great clips and music, this will be so inspirational for aspiring gymnasts for years to come.
Live long and prosper.
Beautiful!! :-D Thank you!
Just one thing: very few moments of Khorkina... none on bars nor floor... Remember, she's the most sucessful gymnast ever!
I couldn't imagine this video better. Combined with Enya it's amazing.
Thanks, I didn't know who Yang Yun was and I just looked her up and was amazed by her performances in all the aparatus!! I plan to do another vid like this before the Olympics next year and she'll be included for sure!! Thanks again!

@DarkEyeEagle I think you are referring to the other one, the little one, the one that did the four on a row, that's Dominique Moceanu, she was 14 at the time, she's now 28.
You could include Kim Smeskal movement at beam. It was so beautiful! ... I like this music too!

Emilie Lepennec. Olympic Gold medalist in Uneven Bars in Athens. The clip shows her doing a Def at the finals. She retired last September.

Mi favorita es Khorkina, pero recuerdo Moceanu y la "Magnificent 7."
I think mens artistic is far more power based, theres nothing that beats the grace and just pure elegance that womens gymnastics has !
Entonces te invito a ver mi montaje de Khorkina. ;) Ella también es una de mis favoritas.
Y las "Magnificent 7" me traen buenos recuerdos fue en esas Olimpiadas que me hice fan. :)

soviet union was best in that sport
1:10 was all I could take. Too much bar work, dumbest song EVER and poor video quality...:-(
