This montage brings back so many memories to me. I used to train for at least 4 hours every day and i remember doing these same things. I wasn't pushed by anyone at any times, i just loved it and still love it. Gymnastics is hard, you need dedication and perseverance, but all the effort definitely pays off in the end.
ive been in gymnastics for 13 years and it is tough everyday u go into the gym. every gymnasts will have a moment when they r in so much pain that they wonder y they have stayed with this crazy sport so long but then you look over and c the little girl looking up at you and you realize y you started it in the first place and y you push through all the pain. we give up so much to be in this sport and many ppl dont understand y and nvr will but i love this sport and will give up anything for it
I'm a gymnast...I'm pretty sure ive watched this video over 1000times since it has came out. Its just perfect and shows exactly how i feel after every practice. Love it. Thank you!
I'm a former gymnast of 6 years (and a guy), but this really brings back memories of the time and hard work that is required of the sport. There were many moments that I wondered why I worked myself so hard and so often, but now when I look back at it, I really wish I never quit.
Gymnastics defiantly takes a toll on everything.. i have been doing gymnastics for longer than i can remember I grew up in the gym with my brothers and i was born with severe Erbs Palsy so gymnastics was both my physical therapy as well as just what i love but after years of gymnastics my body is starting to break down i get home from gym and i can barely move and yet i can not imagine my life without it.. its true gymnastics has ups and downs but its what i love about it..
wow i remember goin thru all that practice. god all i can say is the training i will NEVER miss. but i mean yea its hard but when its sumtin u love and sumtin u want the hardest thing pushing u is u.
i have only been in gymnastics for 2 years and i am in level 7 i went from rec to level 5 in 1 year and i LOVE this sport and i have to thank my bff for getting me started it LIVE LAUGH LOVE GYMNASTICS!!!
ur not giving up your lives for gymnastics. I feel like if you love gymnastics, it is your life. The girls in this video are awesome. I love their muscles, their build and everything. I wish like hell that i didn't give up gymnastics. good luck everyone!!!
Great job on the video. My daughter competes, I have seen those forlorn faces and tears at our gym too. Thanks for showing everyone just how much these girls endure for the love of a sport.
But people who are really interested in gymnastics like me know to appreciate it. I love to watch it like thousands of people and I think a lot of people know how hard it must be.
Finally....a video that shows both sides...It's not all fun and games. It's frustrating and it hurts sometimes, but it's the end result that keeps gymnasts going....it's the payoff of winning, of looking back on accomplishments, of knowing how far they've come...that's what the sport is about.
i really liked this video. i did gymnastics until level 7 but i got bad back and heel problems.. this video made me remember all the pain and tears that were put into it. def worth it though
thexfreyax I think you're absolutely right, I'm a rhythmic gymnast, used to do artistic, but quit because didn't have time. rhythmic is also really hard, but we don't cry and we always want to go further, and never give up!
I'm 14 and just started gymnastics 3 Months ago an yes ! You need dedication !! I practice Monday-Friday for 4 hours 15mins each practice it's a lot but it's FUN !
0:30 is such a sad part....I remember having to do that.....it felt like someone was stabbing me in the leg and there was nothing I could do to make it stop. This video really represents the training and the life of an elite gymnast. Well done!
Ok. This song goes very good with this video. I give it a thumbs up! Good luck everyone that is in gymnastics. You guys know you can do it. Just try, try and try again. You will succeed! You have to push yourself!
this is amazing, it shows the struggles behind gymnastics, or any sport for that matter. i ride horses and we have to fight to keep our spot at the top. gymnastics is the same way, and its pressure in both sports b/c the judges want perfection, and no ones perfect. the people in this video fight to be close tho. and some have made to as close to perfect as u can get XD
i know a few girls who went to parketts and while i hurt (mentally and physically) and they worked everyday and had to sacrifice a lot, they love it. they may cry in practice but they're not weak. no one gets to that level without wanting it BAD. p.s. i did gymnastics for 10 years and i recently had a serious knee injury and am done. i loved the shots of the girl chalking the bar. it's amazing how much you bond with those 2 poles haha
I did gymnastics for three years and all I can remember is what the mat felt like when I fell. Not the joy of something new. But then I was diagnosed with scoliosis. It got worse and was told I had to quit or wouldn't be able to walk by age 30. No I can't even do a cartwheel.
this is totally my theme song right now, been out of gymanstics for 4 months with 2 stress fractures in my back wearing a brace almost 24/7... sux, i cant take it anymore
OMG!!!! this is amazing. i am a soccer player on a high level team and i don't even work that hard. you guys are so strong kepp up wiht your great work!!!
If you don't like it don't do it... but you know you can't stop watching... Gymnasts are amazing... in the US we do it because we want to. Many people Quit this is not a sport for the weak.... I am not Elite but training level 9 and I love this sport... even on a bad day... We work harder then any teen you meet...
I am an elite gymnast from Australia and trust me- it's complicated. I see people getting injured every day. And yes, i used to do soccer and it was crap (no offence). i went to gymnastics in 2011 and the coaches said i had a special "quality" and thats how i moved up so quickly. but gymnastics is basically a sport for everyone who loves it. I love it and i cant stop doing it. :)
Gymnastics has broken my heart. I love it more than my own life, but i stand here a level 4 and 13 years old, about 5 years behind. oldest of my teammates by a lot. i will never make it to this, but i want too. if only i had started earlier.
gymnastics is hard. But that's part of gymnastics. That's what makes you a great gymnast. Plus if you don't make the OLIMPIC team. You are still able to do things most people can't do. P.S i'm a L4 gymnast that belives in my dreams. Good job
Well I don't know what artistic gymnastics is but this is how the leveling goes in gymnastics : level 4, level 5, leel 6, level 7, level 8, level 9, level 10, elite, then olympic. So elite is basically the second highest ranking in gymnastics. Hope this helps! =)
I do rhythmic gymnastics, but all this still holds true. My coaches managed to tear my hamstring (minor tear, but it still hurts like hell) but it toughened me up and got me to work harder to avoid injury and become stronger in the process. The only difficulty with RG that tends to be more prevalent than in the other form is thinness, and anorexia is a plague in the sport. Also, height is important and I could be considered slightly too short (thank God I'm still growing).
TheUltumateGymnast Wow! I'm 11 and quit last year but I plan to do it this year! My coach wanted me to skip 2 levels up, I wish I'd taken the opportunity but I kept pushing back! I wish I stayed on track but, you go girl!!
the thing with gymnastics is. when your a gymast. it takes alott. you have to ignore pain. you have to love it and keep going. its not harder than it has to be. trust me. im a gymnast
At :36: That just makes me SAD. Amazing video. Thanks for posting. I'll never just look at a gymnastics routine and think 'Wow. That's wicked awesome.' I'm now gonna think 'I wonder how long it took her to learn that?'
do you know how much it hurts that I discovered gymnastics at the age of 15? It has become my passion, my life, but I still know that there are no chances I will ever get to be a real gymnast. I train as hard as I can but my body does not respond so I can be at my best for a couple of minutes, then I get tired.
@gymnasticslover23 lol really? thanks! thats soo awesome u do gymnastics. im a dancer and like yea i can move, but like im really really into gymnastics and want to do it ha ha. like all the stretching, workouts, flips, tumbles and whatever ill actually do it because you know i loove physical activity. i run on my own and yeah i think i would fall in love :) any ideas? oh and i have to wait for a few weeks because i dislocated my knee, but im deffinately trying after wen i heal (:
The songs called 'how strog do you think I am' by Alexz Johnson. I love this montage, I wish I could do all this stuff but Im only just starting to learn some of it.
I took gymnastics from 7 years old to 13. I have an hernia on the back because of it, nothing serious but sometimes annoying. I used to practice a lot but I didn´t want to stop growing at 4 or 5 feet besides my parents didn´t want me to travel alone. It was good to get nice sports skills, I do rock climbing outdoors and I think gymnastics gave the ability to do it.
they work so hard. all gymnasts do. some coaches are just so cruel. some of these things make me want to cry. tumbling is hard enough, many elites give away their childhoods just to be great at gymnastics- they brave through everything, for pain, training, broken bones, injury and even abuse, it doesnt seem fair. it makes me so sad.

It's amazing, sad, beautiful, and everything in between to watch the process that it takes for girls to become the best. Sure, hyper-stretching hurts, but it's all part of the journey. Amen to this video.

I'm a tops gymnast and I'm moving to elite this looks really complicated but I'm ready :)
It’s been 9 years since you posted this. How are you doing now? How was elite?

Great job on the video. My daughter competes, I have seen those forlorn faces and tears at our gym too. Thanks for showing everyone just how much these girls endure for the love of a sport.
Gymnastics stands alone!!! Even the military doesnt train this hard and they send you home after an injure... Props to those girls who make it!
But people who are really interested in gymnastics like me know to appreciate it. I love to watch it like thousands of people and I think a lot of people know how hard it must be.

All these girls are allowed to be young and always will be blessed to be able to live their lives
OMG i love you guys!!!! I'm an optional gymnast right now, but I wanna be elite within the next couple years!
Pound for pound these kids are strongest and toughest athletes in the world
wow. That was an amazing video. I've always had the greatest respect for gymnasts. Excellent work Ashley!
man i remember those days spending every waking moment in the gym just to perfect 1 move..... 16 - 20 hours a week sometimes more...
I`m not an elity gymnast yet, but I know how hard it is. It cost a lot of work and tears. But it give a lot of satisfaction.

do you know how much it hurts that I discovered gymnastics at the age of 15?

The songs called 'how strog do you think I am' by Alexz Johnson.
I love this montage, I wish I could do all this stuff but Im only just starting to learn some of it.
i love this video...it is my favorite.. i am a lev 6.. i couldnt imagine elite... this is also now my favorite song
love the song its my favorite and the video totally goes AWESOME JOB
Wow. I find it really inspiring to see women be strong, athletic and independant. I love gymnastics too.
Elite is basically just past the levels (1-10) and it's in artistic gymnastics (vault, bars, beam, floor). Hope this helps
How Strong to you think I am, Alexz Johnson. It was made for a TV show, she was supposed to be a singer in the show and it was one of her songs.
Our coach made us do so many sit ups and v-sits that I rubbed the skin off my back!
they work so hard. all gymnasts do. some coaches are just so cruel. some of these things make me want to cry.
tumbling is hard enough, many elites give away their childhoods just to be great at gymnastics- they brave through everything, for pain, training, broken bones, injury and even abuse, it doesnt seem fair.
it makes me so sad.
i've decided i'm going to train myself really hard to do it like them but do everything on mats
6 types in US:
1. Men's artistic - focuses on strength, tumbling
2. Women's artistic - flexibility, tumbling, strength... what you usually see
3. Rhythmic - 5 tools (ribbon etc.) to use in floor routines, shows flexibility, strength, pirouettes, jumps, tossing/catching
4. Trampoline and tumbling - just power
5. Acrobatics - a pair, group of 3 women, or group of 4 men do floor routines that include balancing on top of each other and throwing each other into somersaults.
6. Group - gym for all
this is by far my favorite montage
I love this video. It's so inspiring! I am a level6 gymnast.Man is It hard. I hadpractice@ 8 AM till 11:30!!!!!! my coach was soooo mad @ me cause i wuz freaking out about doing my backwalkover on the high beam. Rite b4 that I fell over the beam and just started crying out of fustration. But yet, ilove it!
gymnastics for 14years straight:) and it is completely worth it
Wow great job! Where did u get your USA training footage?! It's soo cool to see that they have to go through stuff like all other gymnasts. Different idea for a montgae and turned out great!
Gymnist have harder workouts then us wrestlers do. Intense keep it going
I do gymnastics, but I don't do it 'seriously'. These people wouldn't be doing this if they didn't feel really passionately for gymnastics. It is easy to start crying - especially if you're trying to do a move you just can't get the hang of. It's more fustration and exhaustion than pain and being pushed too hard. You do have those bad moments, but 98% of the time you love love LOVE what you're doing.
wow love the vid. Im a gymnast too and i dont think alot of people realize how hard it all is
I've bin doing gymnastics for 5 or 6 years and it is a lot harder than it looks!! but i still luv it a lot and hope to go to the olympics one day!!!!! -3
It's amazing, sad, beautiful, and everything in between to watch the process that it takes for girls to become the best. Sure, hyper-stretching hurts, but it's all part of the journey. Amen to this video.
aw i love this song :] i just finished watching instant star, great video too
Perhaps the message here is, The Rewards Outway the Pain it take to become this good, I Imagine Just Geting into a Gym School Like would be a Huge Achievement...Just a thought.
This video really inspired me to work harder.
It seems real tough but I envy them.
I want to work as hard as them =P
@AshleyakaFlipper in usa, european easy mode is elite mode, in euorpe the american hardcore is known as intermediate
That is some tough training and amazing moves!
Its not harder than it has to be bcuz in the end... You'll be amazing and all that hard work u put in will pay off. Just believe in yourself and u can do it.
I'm glad someone finnaly sees how hard gymnasticts is and how hard they have to work and less than 1/4 of them will go to the olympics...
This would make a good dedication Doco
My best to every person with a dream
