I recently deleted over 50GBs of mods for Reforger and started playing vanilla again. It's honestly refreshing after a while.

No joke the biggest thing in this patch is a server queue system. Not sure how a game could come out without that in this day in age.

The game has console and pc mod crossplay servers. "in this day and age" couldnt name a less important feature
The biggest thing with this patch? Pretty sure the biggest thing with this patch is that its now available on ps5 which is an entire other platform with its own playerbase thats now making its way into the arma universe, likely why they felt they needed to add a queue system in the first place.

Although I am stoked that suppressors are now added, I am not thrilled at the fact that everyone will be using them. I wish they had a rank-minimum to unlock, say Sergeant.
In Ironbeard's Seize & Secure mod it will likely be restricted to be used by only a few roles, so you won't see everyone running with suppressors, RPG and snipers rifles. Vanilla is... still Vanilla
Might be some nice surprises in upcoming updates :)
People already use hella suppressors in the servers I play (Darkgru, WCS) so I’m just happy I can suppress the older guns now. I love the M16 Carbine and now I get to suppress it, very cool
@CeizoBro yeah the massive downside with the suppressor is that you can't have a bayonet at the same time

to be fair its pretty much what arma 3 has had for its entire lifespan, they had the recipe they just needed to cook it up in the new engine

@@Opachki69420 no the terminal ballistics with cavitation and so on is completely new. A3 didn't have that at all.
The other ballistic things like muzzle velocity bullet drop and so on are tweaks reforger always had... Just like A3 has, yes
Awwwwww. I was so excited for mortars and how they are going to change gameplay drastically. Server Q should have been here the whole time... Also I pray they fix internal error has occurred. Disconnecting multiple times a match is ridiculous.

If u want mortars play Vietnam 67 once they get everything right again because of the update
the mortars are going to make this game better than squad hands down, but this patch really set us up for some amazing additions in the future, as well as some much needed balance changes(they should still lock rpg/suppressors/grenade launchers behind sgt/cpl rank imo, its way too common for solos to just grab a jeep with 40 rockets and go camp your main road all day instead of playing the objectives)

Ability to dig out a small foxhole with the spade would be awesome. And would fit nicely inn with the mortar addition.

This update was the best christmas gift I could get! I got a 8 man squad and this changes alot for us. Cant wait to give this one a blast.
9:55 Damn, I don't really go all out with my custom gear but that's annoying.. I take a reasonable amount of mags 7-9 and a handful of grenades, but I love putting them 45rd RPK mags into the AKS lol!
Destroying buildings is less interesting that being able to blow holes in walls and floors; that localized destruction allows for more variation in house clearing, etc.
9:56 is the only thing in the entire update that rubs me the wrong way. It will be nice not having to worry about secret squirrel squads spawning loaded to the teeth with 40 Mike Mike’s. But now as a medic or support gunner I can’t spawn on generally the most forward point….
There needs to be default specialist loadouts beyond just 'Rifleman' for this to function properly, in my opinion. You should be able to spawn as a gunner, grenedier, medic, etc, from an MCU.
If you want your suppressed SOF operator kit, you spawn at a base and start hiking.
Having default specialist loadouta available would also help prevent the start-of-match Barbie playhouse session.
Now the games aren’t gonna be 6-8 hours, they’ll be 45 minutes and the winning team just needs to be somewhat coordinated to steamroll the other and win.
I like the change. It rewards team play even more. To take advantage of the command truck you now have to 1) deploy it near a supply depot and 2) park it near an arsenal truck.
They need to stop people turning off grass and making the game monochromatic so characters pop against the background.. also increase the fprender distance for players!!!!!!

For group behavior, it appears the AI behavior has significantly improved. However, if you place individual units down their behavior is awful now. Placed 10 individual guys on a hill and sent them into town. They ALL took the SAME long-winded path. None of them took a direct route or semi-direct route. They conga-lined as well - which I was hoping would change.

Second, just want to point: "Modders having over 1 month for fixing their stuff on experimental branch"; I'm not a very good example if the community, but it's not because it's been over a month all modders have enough dedication to fix their mods every time a patch comes out. We’re not working full time, for most of us it's side project hobbies. Plus, each patch or update can impact complexity differently depending on the mod, sometimes it’s just small fixes, other times it can break big parts of our work and require a lot more time and effort. 😁

Good Coverage, the Radio Digging behind backlines was always a mixed bag for me, it made sense on servers where AI Garrisons exist if built but on the no-AI modded servers it always felt cheesy to do. I'm glad it's back a little bit with some balance.
My favorite moments in early Reforger development, was back when we could help our allies revive with a shot to the foot. Not sure if that was patched up or not XD But I loved the derpy jank it had

Doesn't even need to be just a spec ops thing. M16A1s were still in circulation as late as Desert Storm. Plus we have older uniform options in the form of the M65 uniform and M1 Helmet with older options for camo covers than the standard M81 cover. Its weird we don't have the A1. Would love to have a Early 80s loadout.
The AKM, 1911, MP5, RPD, and M24/M40 would be welcome and lore friendly additions as well
Realistic ballistics would be cool if the level 2 vests the americans have wasnt buffed to be unrealistically protective. 5.45 should punch straight through those “Flak vests”

Great video! Really awesome summary, man! ...but please please please tell me that stupid bug has been fixed when you can't drive a vehicle forward in full drive assist mode. Ridiculous that it's been in stable for so long!...oh, and also radio backpack spawns continuing to work outside radio range
I've been using manual transmission so I haven't noticed. Radio backpacks...well...you'll see

any news about the random disconnects, are they fixed?
Don't care enough about what people deem "realistic" about what players choose to wear or use in a video game, that's also not a developer problem but comes down to player choice. More happy with the QoL and expansion on existing systems, which has been great so far. Server stability would be appreciated though as they tend to crash frequently.
The vehicles feel heavier and are no longer as spongy.. OK, the Humvees were only light anyway.
I'd like to see some new vehicles like T62m tanks BMP2-3s BTR 80s bm21 grad for vanilla game

While reading the updates, I found out that a lot of things have changed, but a lot of things haven't changed either... But this is the some big changes

like to see some a less realistic official servers fun+servers with classes/custom... & persistent progression leveling system something like ( planetside 2 ) skill trees & unlocks that dont get wiped + things like hipfire ridiculous & GPS & WP..... u know less annoying complexity more fun+ standard issue stuff u get in most shooter games

We need, some who lead the game. There should actually be a group which is staying in base and giving orders. Too many times 4 group cars going alone rather then filling up a truck and guarding it with two armed convoy cars

@ that’s great, I want to see a humvee in the front a full truck in the middle and a humvee in the back working together.
Also usually I try to get people on a supply truck and run it into purple places but bruh that’s tough people are so stuck with their load outs.
Not that I am for strong authority but it would sometimes be nice if you already LT or Cap that people will listen.
Being stuck in the load out is Cool if you just loaded in the game but not if we are about to loose man all hands needed!
I think it Would be cool if as soon as the timer starts, u can’t do load outs. It feels like some stop playing because of moral, and am guilty of it too sometimes!

I think the first thing they should focus on is console optimisation
The whole point of the game was a platform, laying the ground works for Arma 4 and testing console compatibility, if the whole game is about multiple platform support, they need to optimise the game for different platforms, there’s no reason a series X should only run the game at 30 fps on high graphics and on low graphics nothing renders past ≈ 500 metres
Are you stunned? Yeah, there is a reason an Xbox can't play it on high. It's a HUGE map and it's graphically complex.
Arma has never been a console game and despite the fact that it's on console, it will never be to PC standards. There's far too much going on.
Hate to break it to you, buy a PC if you want a smooth experience. Arma is not a console game.

They still haven't fixed the grenade spam bug though. Spam nades and get stuck holding it in your hand. I got a kill with that bug today though by walking up to an unaware american and respawning, which made the nade drop and kill him after my death.
Pro tip : when grenades get stuck in your hand look for an elevated position you can drop from.
Climbing on top of camo nets and sandbags can work.
When you trigger the landing animation after a long enough fall you should put the pin back in the grenade.
This worked last patch anyway.
Will they ever make it possible to create a map on game master and just invite your friends directly to it? (Xbox) My brother and I would hop on an empty public server and mess around, but we couldn't have mods activated, and it was generally not as fun as it could be. I dont get why you can't just invite someone to your game master directly and have mods active in it.

The team killing is so dum i was flying a heli and the pasinger jump out when I was landing so he hit the propeler and it broke so i got team kill for every one in the heli

Yeah literally no one’s gonna spawn on it now. Already go through massive effort to get a radio spawn somewhere amazingly close to where people want to be, just for everyone to go “nah… I need my loadout.” This will just massively slow down games because people will refuse to spawn on MHQs.

There is an Option in the Settings at gameplay were you can toggle it to free Look in Helicopters Hope that helped 👊🏽

Coming from dayz enfusion engine this game is mostly an upgrade but graphics/lighting and audio & lack of spacial sound are huge downgrades.
Basically they messed up all of the controls on console, the new radio thing might be nice for pc, but it sucks on xbox. Also they messed up render distances on console (im sure because ps5 doesnt have as good hardware as xbox) but they bumped it from hands and feet at 800 to hands and feet at 500. Very bad. Would not reccommend.

With this update, interaction with Sony's Deulsense is now available in the game on PC. Playing with a gamepad is quite convenient and pleasant, but unfortunately, adaptive triggers and haptic feedback do not work. Do you think these features will be available only on PS5 or can they be enabled on PC?
I'm kind of jealous of the dualsense controller. I imagine it will be available only if PC has that kind of controller too.
