Haven't watched fishing videos since I was a kid. Would go get a Bill Dance vhs and sit organizing my tackle box while watching. My 5 year old and I have started that tradition again with your videos. Awesome
Kingston steam plant dang I have made a lot of money at that plant but the fish I have caught from that same spillway that he is fishing from has a place in my memories that I am pretty proud to have, the best fish I have caught from there is a 48lb rockfish and the bait was a 3lb Skip jack and the fight from hell was on, I will never forget the time's I have had at this place but I am also dying because of this plant due to the ash spill and faulty PPE that TVA put us in. Good fishing take care
I've made a lot of money working shut downs in that plant. Always worked nights while working in the Boilermakers, and when our shift was done at that plant we always went to the spillway to fish. Lots of big fish and good memories I've had right there.
I've worked around a bunch of people they call sugar britches on the job. But anybody that holds that nickname is not the kind of people I want to go fishing with if your picking up what I'm putting down......LOL
Great video! I used to be able to fish in the Nimbus basin on the American river in Sacramento, Ca! We no longer can fish their unfortunately, but we would only be able to fish on both sides of the banks just below the Nimbus dam. We would fish for Salmon, Stripers Steel Head and Shad. One side of the bank was considered the low wall and the other side the high wall. On the high wall we would use a crab net to raise up are catch, it worked very well!
Ive always used a basket when fishing from a dam or bridge. Kind of like a carry grocery store basket with a rope tied on ao you can lower it down to the water
I lived in Hendersonville TN and fished the Kingston steam plant like a day b4 that huge ash spill in Dec 2008. We caught big stripers those few days me and a few friends fished there. I moved to florida a few days later, but just moved back to E TN in 2022. I hear it was a disaster that lasted for years and ruined the river and fishing. I remember the huge piles of coal and the freight trains all loaded up next to the conveyors and smoke stacks. Time usually heals most wounds. Glad to see the fishing recovered. Caught a couple of stripers in the 40 lb class over the years there. Will have to fish there again soon
yeah. My mom was driving through to pick up my mamaw and papaw that day because I had broken my arm and had to get carried out of a hospital on a helicopter because of the blood loss. She barely made it through because she passed through the road on her way to there house and went back only to find the road gone... She was probably one of the first people to call it in that night. Now that it's been cleaned up they have small lakes in the area that you can fish, but never eat. Just like those men and women who cleaned up the spill you'll get plenty of cancer.
Have you ever heard of the Rockfish capatol of the world 🌎 ? I live in Halifax county North Carolina ,we call striped bass rock fish because they spawn in the Roanoke River amongst the gigantic rocks before going back home too the Atlantic ocean we too had trouble with the way things worked out for the fish but after years of restrictions THAY came back by the millions we can only keep 2 a day with a slot limit , only one hook with the Barb REMOVED but they can get over 40 lbs. You can land over 40 to 50 of them in just a few hours 👍
Good video !! Yeah, I recognized the plant as soon as I saw the stacks. My long-time friend and fishing buddy lives a few miles down stream from there. Nice stripers and cat for today's haul. Keep on doing what yer doing ! Randy B.
I grew up in Kingston. My moms house was the first house on the right when you crossed that bridge in the background when you were going into Kinston. I fished that wall many times as a kid and caught huge fish there.
Been in Knoxville for 15 years. I’m from New Orleans all my life until here. Never fished here but I’m ready. I loved surf fishing Grand Isle but know nothing about fresh water fishing till watching this. I can’t wait. Can I use shrimp for bait. Anyplace to throw a cast net there ?
Lol they will hold I weld for a living and a little weld on steel goes a long way unless it's aluminum vibration and flex is the enemy then unless there's alot of flex I wouldn't worry to much
When I got to walk get one of those metal wagons from Rural king to put your gear in holds lots of stuff ! Even mount rod holders to pvc type and add a cushion for a seat .this is if you have good grass or sidewalk to pull it but it will go over some rough stuff ! Try it well worth the investment !
Hey brother I will tell you 2 helpful tips that will help you after watching you fish man Im a old veteran fisherman brother .if you're worried about losing your rod due to short holders take a piece of rope about 5 ft tie it to you rod handle & to the railing .also make you a fish basket out of bent rebar sheet it with a chicken wire or square hole wire & tie a rope from a four tie sling tied to each corner & meeting with a rope tied to it . let it down just under the water & when you catch a fish just pull him into basket that's under the water not far then pull up basket . you have your fish no help needed plus no getting over the rail .it will help you a great deal .POWER ON & GOOD FISHING ALWAYS ..
The plant is running fewer units. That is why the discharge water is cooler. That water is only used for condensing the steam in the boiler back to water for recirculation thru the system. It is not contaminated at any point. Don't worry.
Great video I watch a lot of you tubers and fish alot your videos are definitely some of the better ones informational and not a lot of complaing . just enjoying the moment like it should be
They are talking about making the outlet water that you are fishing the same temp as the lake water for some kind of epa compliance hear about it when i was working there last fall
I am glad that I "stumbled" on your video. I pass that place running routes to the Knoxville area from Murfreesboro. I was always wondering how the fishing would be in that area. This is an outstanding video.
You need to build or buy a pull along trailer. Connect rod holders to out side of it. I'm to old and to lazy for the back n forth my friend. Good video
A buddy of mine recommended your page. He said you can help me. I'm interested in the hellcat rod. Can you tell me which reels are you using? What's the perfect setup? Thanks
So are there other anglers that came there and wanted to fish? And seen you had the whole area to yourself? Did you turn them away? Or how does that work?
while the fishing doesn't actually start until almost 13 minutes into the video, it was still a cool, entertaining video. and it's cool to learn about the things that happen in other areas, like yours with the coal spill, and how it changes the whole ecosystem, not just fishing in that area for a long time
It was a huge disaster. I thought about including some news clips from it, but I didn't know what the copyright laws were on it. Try googling it. The aerial videos and photos are wild.
The fish doesn't bite until 16 minutes in for those of you that don't need the rigging and bait lessons. I like the video though. Wholesome. No cussing or trashy talk.
FYI, thousands of videos of people reeling in fish on TH-cam. Ignore the comments about the time before you start fishing. People like myself are always interested in how another angler sets up and preps. Good job!
met a guy who went down in scuba gear to repair the turbine blades down there. the catfish at the bottom scared him so bad he refuses to go scuba diving now.
Great video and catches of fish I haven't caught my first big decent sized fish of 2021 maybe in 2022 I will catch my first big decent size fish and I may end up catching a lot of big ones too that year and I have a new idea that I want to try out in the spring Kool-Aid and little smokies and I want to mix them together to create Kool-Aid little smokies and see if I can catch some big catfish carp and striped Bass and more
Man- those rod holders look pretty shallow to hold your rod handle with. They should have welded a whole open tube on a 45 deg. bracket so you slide the handle through it.. I'd be skeptical to set my fishing rod into it- lol!
That one where you said def munching, that's how a gar will do, he will carry it for a mile away b4 feeling comfy enough to eat it, so id say you prob had a gar messing with your bait .
I mapped that steam plant to spy on your spot and man does that look like a great fishery it’s a shame it’s 227.73 miles away from me, I would assume fishing under route 40s bridge right there on boat would be 10/10 too!

I live one mile from here, the Kingston steam plant is where I learned to fish, I am now 48 years old. This is pretty cool 😎
Great to see local video's, I live on Norris Lake in Claiborne County.
Beautiful stripers. I've snagged then in the San Joaquin River and the SF Bay mainly in summer time. Incredibly delicious fish to fry.
Start out shore fishing and end your fishing years back shore fishing. Lots of fun and adventure.
I live on the lake, and this is a 20 minute boat ride away. Good to see its a productive spot

Awesome! Video I love catfish and stripers can't go wrong!
Lived here all my life never knew about this hole I need to take my kids an try this spot
Steam plant, That’s one of the nicest terms I’ve heard of em 😁👍 Great video
So funny, we fished there for the first time in July over by the barricade. I had no idea that we could go back down the creek. SMH! So close
Ive always used a basket when fishing from a dam or bridge. Kind of like a carry grocery store basket with a rope tied on ao you can lower it down to the water
Nice spot you have all to yourself!
What an awesome place to fish …. Thanks for the wisdom
Any time!
Such a great spot to fish! Have to give TVA a huge thanks for everything there!
Did yuns hit the concert at the boat ramp my wife got a prop there one day

I fish there twice a week,Great place to fish, always see the older guy down there on a regular basis.
Nice fella!
Been wanting to go here for a while. Do you know what the hours are that you can go fishing?
I grew up fishing there all my life haven't been there in years great video
first striper looked more like a wiper when you turned for the sun... the second one had smooth unbroken lateral lines...
I may have to come down there sometime in the future and do some fishing at that spot near and at the steam plant
I grew up in Kingston. My moms house was the first house on the right when you crossed that bridge in the background when you were going into Kinston. I fished that wall many times as a kid and caught huge fish there.
Are you catch and release or clean and cook what you catch ?
Mostly release, unless it's a walleye or a sauger. Then it's a taco!
Great video.
This is my hometown! Really cool. Good place to fish

Awesome video! Love your content. Me And my boys were watchin
Is it open year round? The steam plant I fished at in Rogersville stopped letting people fish there years ago?
Those railings with built in holders are clutch!
The two little welds always sketch me out!
Lol they will hold I weld for a living and a little weld on steel goes a long way unless it's aluminum vibration and flex is the enemy then unless there's alot of flex I wouldn't worry to much
When fishing Above the Water such as Bridges, Piers , High elevations you should Get yourself a Bridge Net
What is a fish net?
@@kansascountryboy6611 a bridge net is a net that you lower with a rope look it up you usually use it on piers
Nah just boat flip it into the grease
Know you don’t do much bank fishing, but I use one of those game carts like you use to haul deer out to tote my stuff in at distances.
Fresh bait is a wonderful thing.
Mark another great video buddy a great day of fishing thanks man keep em coming bro

Wow so big fish..Amazing...
this is where i go fishing all the time im a local and would like to fish with you the next time your in town
In TN, how many fishing rods can you fish with at the same time? It looks like you have 4 or 5 rods going at the same time, just curiosity.
Unlimited

More fishin. Less bitchin.
Exactly. What's there to bitch about when it comes to fishing? Especially in kayaks like we do! So relaxing
I wish we had catfish and fresh water stripers here in New Hampshire
Yea we usually only fish with one rod. On either kayaks or a boat. But we went catfishing last year and got eat up by mosquitoes haha
I live about a mile down the river from there biggest striper i caught though was at melton hill dam. It was 40 pounds.
They are talking about making the outlet water that you are fishing the same temp as the lake water for some kind of epa compliance hear about it when i was working there last fall
I wander if you take a pice of tail pipe and slide over the "rod holder " to make it hold the rod better?
I had a fishing pole mishap where the pole went into the water... did you had any mishap like that??🤯
Absolutely. There's a $400 combo below melton hill dam. I had gotten it the night before for my birthday in college
How's the fishing in October there
Awesome video brother

Any tips on catching skipjack? I really need them for catching strippers.
Checkout the bait catching playlist on the channel
How much farther does your bait go when standing on bench opposed to not on bench?
can add 40 - 50 yards easily.... can go back further before it hits the ground...
You need to build or buy a pull along trailer. Connect rod holders to out side of it. I'm to old and to lazy for the back n forth my friend. Good video
We actually have one now!
A buddy of mine recommended your page. He said you can help me. I'm interested in the hellcat rod. Can you tell me which reels are you using? What's the perfect setup? Thanks
I really like the low profile reels like okuma komods and Shimano tekotas

I'd be happy if I caught a few striper that size. I've only caught maybe 14 inch before
I made my first visit there yesterday traveled almost 3hrs from Hampton tn caught one lil channel cat lol but I will be bk

what is the limit on how many poles you can have in the water in tennesee.
You need a drop net like they use on the fishing piers.
For real!
So happy fishing to sunday man amazing
Nice👍😎
Never been here before. I did not even know you COULD fish there. I thought you were trespassing haha.
Very Well Done!!
Back to the basics
Nice fishing 🎣
Thanks!
What kind of gear is this?
Great video..
Good Fishing is those bass Good eating
They can be. I personally would rather eat a walleye or a crappie
I've found that using the big bait makes a weight obsolete. Weight will get you tangled.
Those shallow rod holders would give me a panic attack 😂
They are less than ideal
There used to be a better place out behind it on the intake side of the steam plat we caught 50 plus catfish in one day from 5 to 25 pounds
Hey man! Random! But what kind of eyeglasses are those? I need a new pair and really like yours, thanks. LOL😄

It’s always weird seeing people fish with 57 rods. We have a 2 rod law here so I’m just used to having 3 w only 2 ever in the water.
Tennessee is pretty cool with the rod regulations
A little overkill on the rods don't you think wow!!
have you ever tried used squrierrl meat to catch fish,
I have not, but I tried a piece of ribeye once
Wow how many poles can you use?
There isn't a rod limit in Tennessee

Skipjack Herring for bait.
