Great 'walk through', with a simple project, while being relatively comprehensive, yet concise enough not to be overbearing. Thanks for taking the time and effort to do this - much appreciated.👍
Thanks for such an informative session. This will definitely help me in my course to perform better and do my work in future as a project manager well. Highly appreciated! 🙂
Thanks for the question. Try this: Go to File | Info. On the right, choose Project Information | Advanced Properties. Go to the Summary tab and type the new name in the Title box.
I thought this was really useful. Thank you! Only thing I do not understand is how this works if you have multiple parties. I am looking at onboarding and so have numerous starters, but by this plan it looks like I then require multiple projects, repeating the same steps mostly but all in different plans?
Hi James. I am not sure what you mean by multiple parties? Is it all in the same organization? Or are they separate projects based on the party? If it is the second option, yes, I would do a separate project for each person.
@@MyExcelOnlineI think he means lots of different people (so new starters) joining the organisation. I assume he (like myself) thought you can create one project as the project would be the process of joining the company (so induction, HR, getting set up with IT etc etc) and the new people who would say be 10 new starters would all go through this ‘project’ . I’m guessing one needs to create a new project for each new starter.
this was great...one question. When you click on Summary, it adds the line above the New summary task above Cook Food, but then on your screen it suddenly jumped below, but does not on mine...was there a step you did that we didn't see?
Thanks for much for the question! Are you talking about at 8:20? Yes, I did rename the high level task Cook Food as well as one of the ones below it without showing that step. Sorry for that confusion!
Thanks for the video. I am unclear how Cook Food time is 8hrs. but the summaries of Bake Cake (1hr.) Prep Salads (1hr.) and Prep Appetizers (8hrs.) combined are 10 hrs. and exceed the total allotted time for the Cook Food task of 8 hrs. Could you explain this? Thank you
just getting project next week. If I have multiple projects (equipment sent to different locations) but same steps for all do I need to have a separate form for each project or could I have multiple projects on one page?
I really enjoyed your video! I just have a quick question about organizing the dates in my project. Is there a way to sort the tasks in order of their start and finish dates, so that they are in chronological order? I'm asking because I have OCD and it's important to me to have things arranged in a certain way to help me stay focused. Do you think it's necessary to arrange the dates in this way, and if so, is it easy to do in Microsoft Project? Thank you for your assistance!
Hi Tyson. Glad you enjoyed the video! Yes, there is a way to sort the dates. There is a little black arrow next to Start Date that you can use once you have entered a few lines. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!
i have 2010 Ms Projects. Just started working with a company and they use MS365 - I can't seem to find a video on how to use the new Projects - anyone out there help me ... I am getting a tad frustrated. I don't know what I am looking for. or do they and I need to buy Project Plan 3?
Hi. In this video, we are using the latest version of Project. Are you asking which version is compatible with 365? It's a stand alone app. We have a video here to show you some options and how to use the free trial to see if that would work for you: th-cam.com/video/-tLgxV54OCA/w-d-xo.html.
Yes, it is a little confusing. You do have to sign up for the trial and then you can cancel after 14 days. Did you see the link in the video description?
She is using the Desktop version which can be downloaded if you Purchase Plan 3 or above of the Online Options. It's very confusing and I did not receive an option to download the desktop version when I was on the trial.
its kind of complicated when you start explaining the party tasks, its best to correctly write tasks in order and then input in project for easier presentation of data.
Hi. I am not quite sure what you mean by Party tasks? Do you mean all the tasks as a whole? I wanted to show two things: 1. You can have a list of general tasks. 2. You can go back later and insert sub tasks. The nice thing about Project is that it reflects real life. You can go back and add tasks that may have come up after your initial set up. Does that help clear things up a little?
Appreciate the video but the audio quality is not great. Sounds like it was recorded "hot", that is there's slight distortion because the soundwaves went above the noise ceiling.
Is that all for MS project? It looks not difficult based on following your tutorial. A new job asked me if I could do MS project but I have never been before and that's why I am curious
Where is this Gantt chart. I don’t know how you got to this Gantt chart and I can’t find a video explaining how you even got to the Fanny chart. My ms project just opens up to excel sheet
Hi Angela. You could try going up to the box that says "Tell Me What You Want to Do" and typing Gantt Chart. If you select that, click the right arrow and make sure Gantt Chart is checked. Hope that helps!
Also, there is a vertical bar after the excel like section. You can click and drag that to make the Gantt chart wider or narrower. It is possible yours has been dragged all the way to the right and needs to go back left.
You go too fast. And explain to me how when you add a summary, it automatically changes to "cook food" in bold?? I have the same version of MS Project and mine doesn't do that.
Thanks for the feedback. I am not sure why your version is not coming across bold. Have you checked the options on your version of it under File|Options?
Short and simple! Thank you.
You're welcome!

So glad it was helpful! Thanks for the feedback!
When would you use the auto schedule tab?
Great question! Whenever you would like all the following tasks to change when you change the top level task (or the task that comes before it)
very nice video for a very quick view of MS Project. Keep up the good work!
Thanks! Glad you liked it!

How do you insert title of project?
Thanks for the question. Try this:
Go to File | Info.
On the right, choose Project Information | Advanced Properties.
Go to the Summary tab and type the new name in the Title box.
Great and Understandable 🙏🏽

I'll add that to the list!
Great video but the audio quality makes it very challenge to listen with headphones on
Yes. Sorry about that. We have since gotten a new mic, so hopefully you will keep watching our newer ones.

Oh I just manually overrode that time to show the change in the graph. I should have let it calculate automatically. Sorry for any confusion on that.
I wanted to see how u add resources and assign them etc
Great request! We will keep that in mind for the future. I believe you will need the desktop version for that.
I wanted to create a Project for Automation. I have only received a Charter as of now.. Can you please help
Hi. Sure. What specifically would you like help with?
please how can i grant access to other members
Which version do you have?
just getting project next week. If I have multiple projects (equipment sent to different locations) but same steps for all do I need to have a separate form for each project or could I have multiple projects on one page?
It depends on how you want to structure your projects. You could do a top level of 3 projects, but it may be best to have separate files.
Short,simple,fast
Glad you liked it!

I don’t know if I’m loosing my mind but there doesn’t seem to be an app download option or they have made it very hard to find.

You may be losing your mind
Thank you so much it very very good made and very useful
You're very welcome! Thanks for watching!
Is this using the cloud based option or the on premise option of the subscription?
We have a subscription for the version we use in our videos.
She is using the Desktop version which can be downloaded if you Purchase Plan 3 or above of the Online Options. It's very confusing and I did not receive an option to download the desktop version when I was on the trial.
Where is the description link?

We have a playlist on more Project videos that might be helpful. Check out this playlist: th-cam.com/play/PLWSweFpA2PEhLIhJTSz1ri1tQNXseJb6Q.html
Would me nice is there was an app of this software :(
Sorry, I don't think so. We do have this video that you might like (so you can try it): th-cam.com/video/-tLgxV54OCA/w-d-xo.html

For a month, yes.

you can always slow the playback speed of YT videos by clicking in the gear icon in the video... if that's what you need.
The plosives are very distracting
I'm sorry, I don't understand your comment.
The sound is terrible! Very distorted.
Yes, we had an issue with our mic that day. Sorry about that!
You did great. Best video on TH-cam. Trolls will always be trolls.
Awww thanks!
