The new predictive graphics are a great way of getting a visualisation of how the weather will generally look over the 10 Day Trend range. Great work by you guy's at the Met Office as you continue to develop new and different ways to get the weather forecast detail communicated to more folks. Especially important given the number of inaccurate and sensationalist 'weather' headlines' being touted by other media outlets.
An excellent 10 Day Trend Alex, really interesting especially with the predictive graphics, you really have some very clever chaps at the Met Office, I so look forward to seeing them on a regular basis. I’ve got to admit that I’m really looking forward to having some warmer weather from the end of the week onwards. I’ve had enough of the bitter weather and will be glad to feel some warmth and be able to get out for safe walks. Very many thanks Alex and to all at the Met Office. Take great care everyone, it’s going to be quite icy in the morning.
This is really interesting to see how the basis of forecasting, particularly in the longer term is changing. I was working in the forecast office in Bracknell in the late 1970's early 80's in the early days of the computer modelling, with the operational forecasts still being produced by the senior forecaster on hand plotted paper charts, and find it incredible how all this technology has moved on at such a pace.
Best ten day trend yet and it's always a belter with Alex presenting and explaining. I loved the new graphics, it makes so much sense!! Amazing Alex and thank you
Thank you Alex. Love the new weather type/circulation/temperature graphics! Much more intuitive and clearer than the spidery ECMWF most probable pressure and temperature maps that you were all using before.
-15 C was our dewpt the other day - just back into the library here where there is internet today after a couple snow days. Praying for us here in US and you over there, same wx apparently happy 2025🎉
Excellent. It's really helpful to see the complexity behind the forecast and it helps me appreciate how accurate your forecasts are - in the broader modelling. It's just that within that there is going to be some variability which can make quite a difference to my weather 'experience'. Cloud getting trapped under a winter's anticyclone being the current example.
Love the new graphics - I'll second the nudge to yesterday's deep dive, it was well worth watching. One small comment, numbers to 1dp on the anomaly chart probably aren't necessary. That's how far the average of that regime deviates from climatology, but on a 10 day trend I'd argue its a level of precision too far. Still though, I can see these new graphics are going to have a huge impact on the medium range presentations, and I'm very much here for it 😄
This channel is a fantastic resource, I'm grateful that the Met Office does such detailed and informative forecasts and offers analysis using more of the data forms than typically seen on telly. The advanced views utilised on some of the live streams, and forecasts are done from the touchscreen, are superb. I appreciate the more in-depth explanations and discussion of the various properties and behaviours of the weather systems in the longer videos. On a purely video quality point, could you start publishing 50 fps uploads instead of 25? Thanks!
Great production again. Any chance the actual average temp and then the predicted difference next to it? If you don’t know what the average temp is for this time of year, makes it trickier to work out what the predicted temp might actually be? All of these Met Office you tube videos are golden, fantastic how you are always trying to move and improve too. Awesome work.
Wonderful to see the new graphics from yesterday's deep dive used in reality of the forcast. I can really recommend the deep dive from yesterday(8/1/25) one of the best for weather nerd. One addition I would find helpful is if you could add what the averages are that are "anomalised" from. Eg 5C +0.5 etc
I would like to know why we are getting so much cloud and the emphasis is on explaining we are going to have a lot of cloud, despite the fact that a high pressure is dominating? Didn't seem to be that way certainly throughout all my years of watching the weather forecasts...high pressure always meant clear skies...at least that's what I remember...
Watch the deep dive last night, really interesting and to see how it translates to the 10-day trend. Would like to see more references to the names of the 30 weather patterns to get familiar with the terms (Scandinavian High etc).
‘Apricity’, the warmth of the sun in winter. Apparently an old English word, first mentioned in text in 1623. What a lovely word , I hope to get the chance to use it often this winter.
thank you Alex Deackin great frist 10 day trend welcome boss new stuff i love them can Aidan use them who made it also when is aidan doing 10 day trend
Graphics all well and good but please improve the forecasts, as today we had only a slight chance of snow in the south. But what we got was far from that, infact 6-7 cm in the blackdown hills.
going to be -1 in King's Lynn this evening,I be biking through it again,Be wrapping up worm,Its be colder tomorrow evening,Its going to be -5 brrrrrrrrrrr 🥶 glad Im not going out in it tomorrow
Just want to know what the weather is likely to be Not interested in your graphs as what's the point in the detail That's for you guys behind the scenes So many graphics hardly any view of the 10 days ahead
It deosn't matter what a computer says about the weather my little Cupcake.....This weather is in to stay !!! for about another 2 weeks I reckon......Computer's try there humble best.............But they can't feel .........they are NOT......Sentient......being's !!!🥶🥵👾😰😨😭😨This is hear to stay, due to extreme's of climate change....Sorry....folk's if you don't believe in it you are delusional !!!Weather all over the World is getting more Chaotic and Random !!! Due to the excess of CO2 trapped in the Atmosphere, due to carbon emissions !!! Stop Oil .......and go Nick yourself a Van Gogh......don't throw soup over it......The money could come in handy!!!😇

Great new graphics. Great summary of complex machine learning models and the interpretation of the data they produce.
Love the new graphics, it really helps to give a general idea of what the weather will be like in the medium term.

Usually means cloud in winter months.
I'm looking forward to some bright winter days. Many thanks for making it so!

Excellence! I watch all the long stuff. Manageable A level business for 10 year olds love it
Great job on the new graphics, very useful, especially when we planning orchard work based on those probabilities!
new graphics look really cool and informative too
How do you spell that word you mention at 4:13 for feeling the Sun's warm on a cold day? Tried to look it up, but couldn't find it. Ta.
‘Apricity’, the warmth of the sun in winter. Apparently an old English word, first mentioned in text in 1623. What a lovely word , I hope to get the chance to use it often this winter.
Great forecast delivery. Clear and well explained
Thanks for teaching me 'apricity', we had it today and it was lush.
Thanks for sharing this latest information Alex
Love the deep dives ❤
Do the solar flares affect the weather? If so how? And when ?
A hard frost on Wednesday night, no just moderate.
Love the new graphics (my colour blindness can just about cope). Lots of lovely data, thanks!
Very helpful graphics!
I Like the new graphics👍👍

I like the charts. Will you be marking your homework in next week's deep dive? Interested to see what happens!
The graphics are good...give a quick visual overview.
Will the UK get the snow that is affecting the USA at the moment?

Normal service is resumed.
Lots of anticyclonic gloom this winter, I wonder how much daylight we’ve had compared to the average
New graphics ✅
Thank you, Alex
Will get used to the new graphics. They do show what might happen in 10 days time. This must be good.
Brilliant😅
>80% chance fewer apples to purchase for the birds then!

Can't you speed up the arrival of that milder air? lol

As always, at this time of the year, doom and gloom, but of the cold kind. Lol
Ha Ha, all that talking, all those charts, all those graphics just to tell us Maybe 😂.

It's simple really it's winter. So why are you lot making it a big deal. It been happening for milenia. Get my point, wokes.
what's your point? People who are new or inexperienced drivers and old people should just deal with it
"...if you're not a fan of the cold" - *Sigh* Recommend a script supervisor. Plonker.
Yes, like the new graphics!
