oh to be in a fancy lace dress by the lake playing your lute
I imagine a happy frog hiding in the reeds listening to the peaceful music.
It's actually named the Frog Galliard after Francis, Duke of Anjou. He was one of Queen Elizabeth's suitors, and she affectionately called him her "Frog." There is debate over whether this was because of a pair of frog earrings he gave her, his French nationality, or other factors (he was scarred by smallpox and Elizabeth enjoyed his dancing, so maybe having bumpy skin and leaping around were the reasons for the comparison?). In any case, a galliard may sound peaceful to you now, but it was in fact a dance of its era, and involves a lot of jumping - a fitting song type to name after Elizabeth's "Frog."
lmao!😂😭
@@mbe2378 WHY ARE YOU SO SMART
I think frogs are tone deaf, but if it makes you feel better, all toads have perfect pitch
@@mbe2378 awesome, I'm in love with your comment
Holy smokes! I went fishing and there was this angel playing the lute. Magnificent.
So, did you actually start fishing or what?
John Piettro
Heck yeah I went fishing. Music is great, but come on. Fishing is fishing!

I couldn’t keep my eyes off your beautiful Lute
This is utterly amazing, and truly beautiful to listen to!! 😁
This makes so much sense on lute rather than a guitar. TY so much for making this video. It has opened up new worlds for me.
great again..

Beautiful song, lady, and video.
Wonderful read of one of Dowland’s best. Thank you!
First frog to second frog (hiding in the weeds nearby): "Wow, dude, she's playin' a song about us!"

I am a happy frog in quarantine watching your video! I love it!!! Thanks
I'm glad you like it
Beautiful. I always dreamed of playing the lute. Baroque recorder is as close as I've got!
I love it!
Brilliant!
The best recording of the frog galliard I've heard on you tube, looks like a lute made by jminstruments😂
Beautiful !!!
beautiful
beautiful played and theres nothing better then the old tunes from a lute. After 3 years of playing guitar im saving up for my first 6 or maybe 8 course ren lute since im only playing francis cutting and dowland now anyway this will be the best fit 🥰
Perfect!
How sophisticated music and leva !
amazing song and composer played by a beautiful angel.
Beautiful 😊
Wonderful performance!
So beautiful. Magic.
amazing playing
Really unusual to see *any* video where a lute is played outdoors, in the open air !!
Thanks ~~~~ It sounds way different from an echoey hall or church, and much more how it sounded to (most) folks back then.
This is heavenly!
An angel playing the lute.
beautiful.
Very beautiful!
I think meeting a beautiful blonde playing flawless Dowland on the shore of a peaceful lake pretty mush hit every fantasy I had in college.
Beautiful
Bravo!!!
Beautiful! Dowland is one of my favorite Renaissance lute composers, along with Francesco da Milano and Adrian Le Roy.
I read 20 or 30 comments and nobody mentiondd what looked like fish jumping in the background right near the end of this wonderful piece.
God bless you!
Bravo !
good‼︎
beautiful lute
... três "coisas" belas: a Ieva, seu talento, o local e a bela canção ...
Amazing👏👏👏👏
so beautiful sound❗️
Thank you!
Dowland , la plus populaire des musiques pour luth , merci pour le partage.
One of the unexpected reuses of this galliard was that Dutch Reformed words were written to it: _Heere, kere van ons af_ (a prayer for deliverance).
This video is so beautiful and satisfying.
Beautiful music by a beautiful lady ❤️
That's beautiful
So beautiful. I'm in heaven.
you are so adorably elegant Ieva!
BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ein Ohrenschmaus, eine Augenweide, ein idyllischer Ort, stille Leidenschaft in der Darbietung. Einfach wunderbar!
0:31 Some familiar harmony. Sounds like Pacelbel's Canon in Dm
Какое удивительное сочетание музыки и пейзажа
Amazing!!!!!!!!!
Thank you!
I like the idea of playing the frog galliard where the frogs live.
Bravo Leva..
Very nice!!!!
Wondrous ! xxxxxxx
Обожаю людей-волшебников и волшебниц , умеющих делать что то НУ ОЧЕНЬ ХОРОШО.
Изумительно !! Прекрасно !!
Brilhante!
Thank you for this inspiring video! I've been trying to learn this song for months and have finally got it down on my lute, (but not as well as this). My goal is to play my entire renaissance repertoire and end with this piece as a Finale and then propose to my partner of 10 years. I measure my progress against your playing of this piece. Thank you again, it is wonderful!
Propose to her today. There is no time like the present.
absolute banger
İn my opinion , this is one the top most perfect performances I ever heard on any string instrument :))
Thank you Murat!
Such a delicious piece.
Nice piece and playing!
I fell in love.
Maravilloso.
Ok I'm in love :O
❤ for the lute and it's voice
🖤 for the curly elf
Well played and quite beautiful.
Thank you!
I’m in love. It’s princess Zelda
The sound of happiness.
semper dolens , semper Dowland
Great
Very nice.
The woman I aspire to be
Angel...with lute...🥀
Nicely done and a nice backdrop. Is the lute popular in Lithuania ? I work in Vilnius very often and have to explain to people what a lute is when I tell them I play :)
Not that I know of, most people know your standard instruments.
Kickass! I like that rose too, it looks like a snowflake.
Thank you
This is lovely, thank you. Can you upload Can she excuse my wrongs? It's my favourite
perhaps not
That's it, the next instrument I'm buying is going to be either an 8 course or a 6 course baroque lute.😁👍
wise move you will not regret it a month ago i was listening to several youtube lute videos and i bought a descant lute the sound they produce is sublime
The 6 & 8 course lutes are both _Renaissance_ lutes, if you want a _Baroque_ lute you need to look at 13 course lutes. Then be prepared to spend a LOT of time tuning it...
Alternatively, if what you really like is the Baroque repertoire, there's always the Baroque guitar, which has just 5 courses to navigate (although 1 video I watched did seem to suggest that they have a re-entrant tuning.)
you are right, lutes have such a unique sound! if you decide to, go check her other videos, where she presents different instruments (6, 7; 8 course...) from Muzikkon. For instance: th-cam.com/video/rMwZ6ZkzjgU/w-d-xo.html
resourcedragon Only lute plebeians get 13 course lutes. The alpha lutenists get a two and a half meter theorbo so they can get intimate with their instrument as they tune it over the course of a month.
You forgot archlutes and theorbos ;-)
All right!! 🌻
Thanks!
Amazing. Sting's 'Songs of the Labyrinth' is also a brilliant lute album.
Very nicely played, bravo! I subscribed!
Thank you!
your lute play is very iovery .from japanie fan
Wunderschoen!
