Great question! I switched out because I ended up getting broken off on my light rod and it really didn't matter what pound test I was using. Honestly was trying to scare off the skippies and just hook the bigger stuff. Such a wild day.
I mostly used a flyline setup with 20lb test on a 20 to 50lb rod. Then when I switched to coltsniper I had a 40lb florocarbon leader to the jig on a 10ft ulua jig stick. Super fun setup. Using basically regular number 2 j hooks most of the day or a ringed circle hook
Yep! It is a guarantee with the Yellowtail and yellowfin especially on a half day boat. Typical less experienced anglers. All part of the fun though! The boats turn into mayhem when the bite is hot!
We were drifting with the fish. I was using a coltsniper so you can either cast let sink and retrieve or drop straight down as long as current isn't getting you tangled.
Thanks! Check out some others too. Gold reel is an Avet MXL G2 and the rod is a 30 to 50lb Okuma SC-T. It's basically like the PCH but I think discontinued version.
Epic day, wish I was there with you guys. I rarely ever hook a Dorado with a circle hook, I think that they don't run straight away from the boat once they realized they are hooked.
Best skipper in the fleet, Kenny B
I've crushed it every time I go out with him! Super friendly too, always having fun.
Good job all around 👍👍
Thank you! Check out some other vids and tell your friends! 🍻🤙
love the boat flipping the little's...why switch out setups if you were fishing the same way...

Nice vid! What were your line and hook set-ups?

@@SDkd619 Daiwa Pacific. Awesome crew and great boat for overnights. Satellite tv and a big table for poker games
Damn Bro you got me wanting to move to Cali like Yesterday!
San Diego is the biggest recreational fishing fleet in the country. Spendy to live here but pays off in other ways!

How far did y'all had to go out?
Probably about 35 miles offshore. Not too bad! About a 4 hour trip home.
Great job you lost couple fish because you didn't know you were bit and waited too long to put the reel in gear.
What boat was this on?
Daiwa Pacific. They mostly do private charters. Awesome crew and every time I've gone with them we kill it.
Gaff the head!
