Two geniuses Bruckner and Solti .Symphony No. 7 one of the most esoteric - last Karajan concert, last Haitink concert,Celibidache great return with Berliner Philharmoniker and Regensburg Walhalla ceremonies.
To me, that looks like Phil Smith in the trumpet section, and after checking his bio, if I'm correct, that puts this between '75-'78. I'm pretty sure this is in London, but maybe it's the Pictures video that was done there
Not a Solti fan, this listener. For Wagner yes very enthusiastically. And his Bruckner while faceless is more than adequate ! But his slam bam thank you ma'am approach to most of the repertoire excessively emphasizing brass brass brass and more brass especially with the Chicago Symphony disqualifies him from serious consideration in a lot of the repertoire that should be his bread and butter late 19th and early 20th centuries
Bud Herseth on trumpet 1 and Phil Smith on trumpet 2. DAYUUUUUMMMMMMM!
Herseth the best ever! Phil was great too!
BRAVO BRAVO BRAVO BRAVO BRAVO BRAVISSIMO ❤
Recorded September 5, 1978 (Royal Albert Hall)
Simply magnificent. Solti and CSO at their very best!
Can't go wrong with Solti/Chicago/Bruckner 👍
Thanks.
I met Solti after a San Francisco Symphony concert in 1997. Van Cliburn played the piano in the Tchaikovsky concerto. What a memorable day!
Solti s collaboration with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra was some 38 years

😮😮 6n😮😅😅
Number 7 is hardly esoteric. Together with number 4 it's his most played and recorded work.

When and where is this performance?

Bruckner Symphony No. 7 - Georg Solti and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in the Royal Albert Hall, London, 1978
Definitely the Royal Albert Hall during a Proms season.
Tony Bruckner is one of least known and the most underrated composers.
Definitely not least known
Did you copy this from a Laserdisc?

You talk rubbish!
Totally agree with you
Solti conducts every composer in the same way.overrated.
You have no music in you.
@@lucapostorino1963 with Solti it's easy not to feel music

+1 Looks like he thought that emotional overheating can replace understanding. He always showed absolute misfeeling of Bruckner.
