That’s the biggest issue of it for me. I’m not huge on the Minions themselves but the large studio buildings making up most of the land isn’t the best look. I think the street area with the shops and restaurant is ok though. But overall this land would be alright if it was in a more out of the way spot, but being what you essentially walk into at the park isn’t the best initial look.
Yeah, like get rid of that garbage dumpster, fire fast and furious ride , it’s the worst ride ever, it even got rated the worst ride, nobody even knows what fast and the furious is anymore so that ride just needs to be something different and something that’s not a screen based ride because I’m tired of screen based rides
While I agree with a lot of your points, I gotta say- I am flabbergasted at your praise of the Simpsons ride lol. I love the property, love the land, but that ride haunts my nightmares. A 30+ year old crumbling ride system that makes me sick every single time I ride it. I can quite literally do any other simulator, rollercoaster or whatever in the world but for some reason that one ALWAYS gets me.
Yea last time we rode it it out us all out of commission for a bit. I like the story and jokes of it, but the ride itself is one of the worst at the resort.
Minion blast could have been good, if it was full of physical sets like MIB it would be a hit, they went cheap probably because the budget has been tight
I love Islands of Adventure and Epic Universe looks phenomenal…but Universal Studios is such a mess. It used to be a fantastic park, but somewhere along the way in the last 10-15ish years it just completely lost its way.
It’s a real shame since that’s supposed to be the flagship Universal Orlando theme park. As a USF fanboy, I agree USF needs to get that flagship treatment ASAP. Hopefully that’s what happens after Epic Universe opens.
The Minions property has a snarky tone that turns a lot of parents and grandparents off. The types of attitudes that work in movies and TV vs. a theme park are different and I don't think snarky works in a theme park. It makes all of Universal Studios feel cheapened low-quality.
I don't mind the Despicable Me movies but the rides in this land are definitely low in my rankings. Doesn't help that Minion Mayhem ditched the 3D glasses a few years ago so it's really meh. Villain-Con Minion Blast is always pretty short queues and I think that says a lot. I'll go on Villain-Con if it's short and I'm passing by with nothing else to do because why not? But I do not go out my way for Minion Mayhem, which is usually ridiculously busy. However, there's one brilliant upside to Minions Land that many people overlook: All the kids enter the park and wanna do the Minions stuff because, well, they're kids. Which means while families are stuck on the Minion rides, the rest of us can go get on the good stuff while queues are shorter. It keeps people out of the way of the better attractions. People usually tend to start with the first ride they encounter so Minions Land can really help keep people out if your way so you can get on The Simpsons or Revenge Of The Mummy before everyone else
I went to Universal pretty recently and I went to minion land and the rides were awful. They weren’t that good and having a whole section dedicated to it just feels like a crime. Also the Simpson ride sucked. Don’t ride it. It should be called ADHD the ride.
Since Universal is moving away from screen rides I think they should just change the whole minions ride into a animatronic shooting ride like the Monster Inc ride in Tokyo.
Technically, it is a shooting game. You’re just standing on a moving walkway, which is really good in a way because it’s less maintenance to do than having to fix a whole track and ride vehicle.
Minions for sure has a place in the theme parks, but on entry? One of my biggest issues with Studios is the entrance, there is no cohesion at all, it's just random buildings thrown together. The entrance of the park should be a hub dedicated to the overall scope of the studio. The buildings could be utilized in such a better way. Don't kill transformers please, I enjoy that ride lol
The problem is that production central was not a kidie land when it opened making a reskin to turn it into a kiddie area impossible making it obviously looking like there was no budget.
I think it would've been great if they were to turn Shrek 4-D into The Secret Life of Pets ride or at least something similar to it rather than another tacky screen-based attraction. Also, the Minion Park in USJ looks pretty good and I think that should be the standard for Despicable Me themed lands.
Minions land is bad because it's supposed to be a movie lot. They would need to tear down all the Studio aspect and redesign the paths to not be streets to make a real land in that area. But then they couldn't do the huge parades and most importantly HHN... HHN is the money maker for that park so it won't change.
Minion Land is way better than the debacle of DreamWorks Land. They took Kidzone and made it worse. USF is just a wreck, an embarrassment except for Diagon Alley, The Mummy and Bourne Stuntacular...
I hope they can get it together and give it some much needed investment after Epic opens. It's clear that they don't care about this park as much as the other ones.
The Shrek area was at least decent but even still asaide from that I feel like both DWL and ML both got effected by Epic Universe’s massive cost so there had to be some corners cut I could see Dreamworks land be a temporary phase for something much better down the line
The Kidzone replacement is truly awful. Even though kids weren't familiar with the older properties on display, the old area was still very popular, and it was faaaar better themed.
@@aaronsarchive82 I am mixed on the area but I do agree the old one was better my guess is sometime after Epic they will ehter make the KidZone replacement up to standers by compelty redoing it or replacing it I see this area lasting for another 5 years before it evenelty gets remade up to standers/replaced It felt like the budget dipped when it went out of Shrek area the Trolls area and Kung Fu Panda parts are lacking in certain areas and you can tell Epic Universe’s massive budget effected this lands overhaul plans I do understand why they had to remove the Balls because of hygiene nowadays but even still Not to mention Sesame Street a few miles away at SeaWorld looks better than this Also when Dragons opens next year, A potential Simpsons Replacement and more DreamWorks Land is gonna need fixing up again why not resrcuted Far Far Away and actually do it right it has potential and why not maybe a. dark ride that could replace Animal actors or The former Parade warehouse maybe even give ET a new fasade at Hollywood area those are just ideas Also one major flaw with Minions Land in Orlando when compared to the others, Production Central wasn’t really built to handle imeresive lands and it shows not only that the space is extremely limited what they can do there
Why take out Transformers land? That was a definite highlight from my time there. The effect where a missile was launched at you in typical Michael Bay slow motion and the air started to get hotter as the missile came closer impressed me, and they even had a gift shop where you could buy toys from the franchise that weren’t available for retail anymore. Was it something to do with the movies themselves? EDIT: Granted, though, we did go to different parks as I went to USH and you appear to be discussing USF.
I disagree with illumination’s animation looking cheap. It can’t look cheap, they must put all their effort into it. If it looks cheap, it will stop hiding how horrendously, disgustingly *basic* everything is.
The land itself is a bit of an after thought, but they did a good job with what they had. The character meet and greet is great, the restaurant is one of the best at Universal. The two rides are a bit crappy. The ice cream shop is delicious, but yah, wish the rides were much better, maybe something like Secret Life of Pets in Minion form would be much better than 2 screen based rides.
My main problem with the minions was i was expecting them to at least get a secret life of pets treatment and have a actual dark ride with physical sets and animatronics not a motion simulator or a glorified travel simulator dare i say even the minions deserve better
I’ve only been to the resort ONCE in 2022, and I thought that minions was an absolute putrid way to introduce the park. Even some small parks in Europe I’ve been to have better entrances. The only chance universal still has to save dumpster fire of a park is maybe gutting it of basically everything mid and bad and rebuilding it. I wish we could’ve seen a bigger focus on the Transformers world cause that’s such a good IP
Throwing a random stray at Tron was so unnecessary, people definitely do like those movies. However why the FUCK is there a ride based on Disney's Dinosaur.
OFC bro only talks about the florida version than the HOLLYWOOD version and idc if its the exact same ride the buildings r different and they have a secret life of pets ride
I hate to say it, but I think the only people that think USF is a mess are people who have been there multiple times. For any first time guests, they are always blown away and think they are in heaven
No, absolutely not. I’ve been there once and I fully believed that was an awful entrance section for the park. Small parks in Europe I’ve been to do it better
Honestly I love all Illumination movies... maybe you just don't like their type of comedy.. because that's what they are. National Lampoon type stuff in cartoon form.
They could replace Rip Ride with an inverting wooden coaster. They should add kind of a tunnel in front of the land from both Entry Plaza and New York.
I don't think they'd put a woodie there. I think they'll replace HRRR with a similar ride to the new Fast & Furious coaster in Hollywood. Heard they might axe HRRR and Supercharged for this.
despicable me haters like you come off as really passive aggressive I give the land and everything Despicable Me a fair chance. You just come off as just a Minions hater
This whole area is a horrible way for first time visitors to be introduced to this park

My mom enjoys the films, but like most Moms, it’s likely just because of the minions.
