This spectacular performance by this genius of the jazz piano come as no surprise. Shirley had the talent and training to present music as a journey into the mind and soul. God Bless your soul Shirley. Your many fans are here and still allowing your music to bring joy and comfort into our lives.
I still feel sad, that I found this Beautiful and Talented Lady, only a few years before she left us. She jumped to the top of my favorites list, very soon after I became aware of her. She is Missed
WOW, Shirley's piano on this beautiful version of Girl Talk is just marvelous -- her chords are out of this world, those 7ths, etc! What an artist she was, THANK YOU so much for providing this great post of her. I have played the piano all my life and I can still learn from her! She's 56 here, I was pretty much through performing in public at that age, except for special occasions. But I took some of those great chords and tried them out here at home! Shirley has a sense of humor too -- those last two notes at opposite ends of he keyboard at the end! I LOVE how she has fun playing! It really shows. At around 3:30 to 4:+ you can see she's scatting under her breath and she smiles at her guitar player! She's enjoying it! WHAT A GAL! That was a fun number!
Wow, I was looking for this song with the lyrics ( I listened to Tony Bennett's version) ... then I stumbled upon this!!!! I'm speechless... what a God given talent! I'm a new fan🤩
Shirley knows her way around the keyboard and this performance is a testimony to her depth of playing. Bravo Shirley; you are playing for me everyday. Thank you for sharing.
I caught Shirley Horn & her Trio in the early 90s at the Hollywood Bowl when She was on the bill with Tony Bennett, 'One fabulous summer evening of music...
With a girlish, light fingered touch, Shirley sounds exceptionally playful. Hefti can be pleased the way how this utter jazz classic of his is performed. Great jazzy stuff folks. G’day & Cheers!
Musical Expressive Perfection. Top Artist in interpretation with long slow distance. I love you Shirley. A contributor to the Artistic Landscape of the Great Ones of the 20 and 21st century. God broke the mold. Eternal Peace to you as you demonstrated in you life musical gift.
Miss Horn had the most extraordinary touch and sense of phrasing. The great Johnny Mandel said, I don't know how she does it, it's like she has two heads.
My ABSOLUTE FAVORITE Instrumental version After Neal Hefti and Billy May!! I also recommend Oscar Peterson, Ray Brown, Kenny Burrell renditions. I've played this version almost everyday since discovering it about a year ago! Late to the party But not leaving early!!
They like to chat about the dresses they will wear tonight They chew the fat about their tresses and the neighbor's fight; Inconsequential things that men don't really care to know Become essential things that women find so apropos But that's a dame, they're all the same it's just a game they call it Girl talk, girl talk They all meow about the ups and downs of all their friends, The who, the how, the why -- they dish the dirt, it never ends. The weaker sex, the "speaker" sex we mortal males behold But though we joke, we wouldn't trade you for a ton of gold. So baby stay and gab away, but hear me say that after Girl talk, talk to me. So baby stay, and gab away, but hear me say That after girl talk, talk to me. But that's a dame, they're all the same it's just a game they call it Girl talk, girl talk So baby stay, and gab away, but hear me say That after girl talk, talk to me. It's all been planned, so take my hand; please understand The sweetest girl talk talks of me

Yuko Mabuchi does a great version as well.
She was simply awesome! Wish she had sung , too. Love this nifty song by Neal Hefti. That drummer is some kind of amazing, too! They’re all amazing!!!
Neil Hefti would have loved this version I think...👌
Grande chanteuse💕
Yes, indeed, Raymond: NOBODY could sing a song slower than Shirley, yet make it work! An amazing woman.

Anyone please tell me the name of the Electric Bass player
Charles Ables
That's Jazz...
too bad the sound is not that great because this is my favorite performance of this tune
They like to chat about the dresses they will wear tonight

Inconsequential things that men don't really care to know
Become essential things that women find so apropos
But that's a dame, they're all the same it's just a game they call it
