This may sound strange, but when she sings you suddenly feel safe and warm inside. Almost comparable to when a mother sings a lullaby to a baby. Yet behind those lyrics, a wealth of wisdom and experience is being conveyed. The love she describes when she paints this musical picture, is a deep intimate bond of love which is now rarely depicted in music today. How sad that so many people are completely unaware of this strikingly beautiful work of art.
Simple, warm, sincere. Her touch of the piano and the elegant depth of her beautiful voice...I, too, wish I had known of her before she passed but I'm SO happy to be able to "meet", experience and enjoy her today...and tomorrow and...
My mother' nickname for me was "Jin-gee" I had no idea when I was young, that it was from this beautiful song, I've heard a number of singers do it, but none compares with Shirley, just lovely. The name, Dindi, could be either gender, I think.
Shirley left the scene to raise her family then came back. Who helped her ? Miles Davis who is not known for liking vocalists. Shirley was his favorite. She is a north American jazz artist killing these Brazilian jazz classics by Jobim who has a love for jazz.

Dindi isn't a common nickname in Brasil ;I believe it became well known in my country and worldwide by this wonderful song by Jobim.
