Excellent retrospective on the tournament and the 2012 format for both newer and older players alike. What really sets this video apart for me is despite the success you achieved with the team, you've clearly put thought into how it could be improved in a modern context, and more importantly how it affected your building and play habits down the line. Amazing job by both yourself and the editors, really enjoyable.

I love seeing this blast from the past and more VGC!
And also, that montage at the end was _baffling._
I have never seen commentators who know less about the game they're watching and I've watched a Smash event where they got people who literally don't play the game to commentate a round as a joke.

    • @theendersmirk5851

The real issue is they clearly think they're being smart. If they had this little of an idea, but had a more upbeat tone to it, you could believe they're memeing, and were selected exclusively for lack of knowledge as a joke. Issue is, they seem to be legitimately under the impression their comments were serious.

In case you’re curious, the meteor mash at 17:57 actually was a critical hit (not that it mattered)
However, the commentators seem to have magical prediction ability because the text they react to saying “ooh, a critical!” Actually says “it’s super effective”
The critical hit text doesn’t come out until after that, (ironically) right where the editing says “it was NOT a critical hit”

This video is fantastic (and I wouldn’t mind at all see some others; this insight at previous championships and matches are really interesting and fun to watch)
(Man, I would to see Cybertron react to the commentators clip - he would probably have an heart attack)

This was a great video. Truthfully I’d be down to watch any Pokémon breakdowns in this style (or really just in general). Really enjoyed these types of vids

Wonderful video, would LOVE to see more like this.
Hearing your thought processes on building, and past mistakes is a very valuable tool for anybody interested in competitive Pokémon.
Really hearing you talk about team building in general, or even a series where you talk about the meta-games of past generations both seem amazing to me personally. Got my sub today

I remember watching one of your videos. It was a skill swap + normalize combo and your enemies cant hit your ghost Pokémon. I'm still blown away up to this day. Pokémon battles are so fascinating to play and watch.

Loved the end of video bonus. That sort of era of not well documented play is sort of nostalgia. I remember going to a 2012 regional in Rhode Island and nobody knew anything. Then in the next year in 2013 it was a world of difference. I think that was even the first year the distributed pokemon. It wasn't perfect back then either. And now you have sites like nugget bridge misspelling names and event dates to sort of fill in gaps.

Loved the video and the entire concept. Would love to see some more breakdowns of championship runs, even if they ended up in a loss.
The commentary is pure comedy. What a joke. I know they were trying to create a broadcast and everything must go through growing pains, but... omg, what the freaking hell. They should have prepared a little bit. Just a LITTLE BIT!
