No doll tour is complete without the most beautiful doll of all, Holland Diane! Loved all the dolls, teddy bears, Santas, trees and ornaments and all the lovely displays. Your mother's spirit is so obviously in the shop. Her love of Christmas, dolls and their world is such a gift to you and Holland Diane, and for us to enjoy because of your willingness to share them with us through your wonderful videos. I remember the Raggedy Ann doll my Grandmother had. It looked like the ones you showed. Thank you for that reminder. I decorate naturally: pine bough wrapped in paper ribbons, candles set out at night on our front porch (all brick porch). I find this closer to the small town Christmases, I grew up with.

Thank you for the lovely tour. Everything is so pretty. Next year I will have a new great grandbaby.grand baby.. I have a teddy bear riding g a tricycle and plays music. The Christmas bear does not come off of the tricycle. The grands loved it. My granddaughter would sleep with it. She has a 5 year old and a 3yearold. So I really can identify the special decorations. Merry Christmas. No snow here but as cold as it is in your neck of the wor. Stay well and safe. From Tennessee

Hello Rachel, this tour was amazing. So many dolls from my child hood, Barbie,Ginny so beautiful. I had a Revlon. doll with a black velvet dress and pill box hat. I still have five Ginny’s but I keep looking for that Revlon that I got at Christmas. Thank you so much for the memories.

Very beautiful. I grew up with Ginny and have many Madame Alexanders.
In Italy we start decorating in December with lights and Christmas tree, but what actually belongs to out tradition is the Nativity...

I received a doll (just like the one you show at 3:50) for Christmas when I was 8 years old. It had belonged to my grandmother when she was a child. She sits in a rocking chair in my bedroom. I would love to learn more about her. She has a bisque head and white kid body. I believe she was made in the late 1800s to very early 1900s.

What a lovely presentation! I am wondering whether the large cloth doll at around 6:50 might not be what they called a Housecoat doll, a traditional doll from Northern Appalachia all the way up to Maine. Children were made basic dolls dressed in fabric from their mother’s or grandmother’s cotton nightdresses or housecoats, which are sort of bathrobes worn over the nightdress for warmth and as a kind of apron while cooking breakfast and doing morning chores. Not only did that give the fabric second life, they represented a great deal of love to hug a doll that represented that mother or grandmother. Many of them were quite large because they did not represent babies, but little “grandmothers” to pal around with and tell their secrets to. I still have mine! I wonder if there are more folks out there who remember the housecoat doll tradition?

Thanks for asking! We don’t. Our way to make money is mostly the subscription but we hope to get more vintage dolls listed in 2023!
