Hi Eva, I’m new to your channel (a 61 tear old lifetime Christian) and I want to encourage you. I have been so impressed with your wisdom! You are doing important work for the LORD, please keep it up. Today’s video - and your take on Bible study - was fantastic. You took familiar terms and strategies and made us think more deeply about them. Thank you. I’ll look forward to your next video! May God pour out His blessings on you. Debbie
The exact video I needed to see! I just left a comment on one of your recent videos asking about Bible study vs Bible reading because I was totally confused. Now I see you have a whole slew of videos about the topic, thank you! I found all of these tips very helpful
Your video showed up on my home page today. Something I really struggle with is finding the balance between Bible reading and Bible study. When I do one of those read the Bible in a year plans I feel like I have to just keep reading so I don’t get behind. Checking off that box each day feels so good lol. So then I end up never doing any studying because I used up the time in my daily quiet time doing the daily reading
I totally understand!! It took me a while to learn how to incorporate them both. I have done different things at different points in life. Sometimes I just listen to my Bible reading plan throughout my day, and spend my quiet time studying. Some seasons I will use my quiet time for Bible reading, and then schedule a coffee date with my Bible later in the week to do some study. Then other times I will use quiet time for study, and read my Bible plan before I go to bed. Try a few different options and see what works for you. And, don’t be afraid to set one aside for a season. Sometimes (speaking as a toddler mom who just got out of the 2 under 2 phase 😅) you just do what you can and thank God that He is the One who supplies us grace and strength. We don’t have to work for it. 💕
Love your point about context. There’s more to it the deeper you dig too. Nuances with language, writing styles, etc., as you know I’m sure. I have a couple more tips: Stop reading the Bible like it is an encyclopedia. It is a BOOK, read it like one. Most people that have told me ‘it’s SO hard to read’ are reading it this way, and they have abandoned the basic reading comprehension skills they had learned by the 6th grade. Who, what, when, where, why, how…don’t let your preacher/Sunday school teacher distract you from it. Stop coming to it with the hopes of ‘having a better day’ or whatever nonsense. The Bible isn’t Xanax. Read it for the reason it tells you to…to ‘transform’ into a better version of yourself.
Enjoyed! Love the warm fuzzies, love the "Lightbulb" going off but when I read the Bible I ask God to write His Word on my heart. Blessings to your ministry!
Great suggestions. I had never heard the terms "descriptive" and "prescriptive" applied to Bible passages. Interesting take. I teach linguistics and we apply those terms to grammar!
Yay! I love that you are seeing it in a new way. I think we often forget (or at least I do!) that the Bible is literature, and we can apply so many literature principles to it.
I notice when I try to memorize what I have read I don't get to the heart of what's being written .. sometimes I do underline in the Bible when I am following a study plan
I have never used a study Bible and never will. In Bible studies, the notes are read as if they were the Bible itself. I am not saying they are wrong, I think they should be separate from the Bible so they are not added to God’s word.

Yay!! I am so glad it was helpful! I replied to your last comment with an older video too!

Hahah - the Bible isn’t Xanax 😂 Such great tips! Love it.
I really like the point that you made about reading and studying being two different things!
Yes! Realizing that was a game changer for me!
@EvaKubasiak makes it feel way more attainable!

It's always nice when one morning leads to warm fuzzies, right?! Haha
I started a bible reading of a chapter each morning, but I gotta say that this was really inspiring
a chapter a day is a great way to work through the Bible! Great job! 👏
I am so happy I found your channel!! 😊
Yay! Welcome! I am so glad you are here ☺️
Such good info! Thank you! I saved your video so I can back a listen again and again!
Awesome!! I am so glad it was helpful.
I love a journaling bible but really love a thin line double column. One highlighter and one pen. No pressure! I get a note in the margin if need.
I am a huge fan of the thin line double column too! I am glad you found something that works for you!
I love these tips / suggestions / and helping us to be realistic and make the most of our Bible reading and studying. thank you, so much!
Yay! I am so glad you found it helpful. ☺
Loved your video🎉
Thank you so much!
Solid and informative...well done. Thank you.
Yay! Thank you for the encouragement.
I love this ❤️ thank you
I am so glad it was helpful for you!
Thank you, Eva! Great tips.
You're so welcome! ☺️
I think I knew all of them but it was helpful for all of them to be presented together. Really enjoyed the video.
Oh good! I am so glad!

Love your shirt. Where can I get one? ❤
It's actually from a non-profit that I support, LIVE2540. You can find them on their site here: bestshirtonearth.com/
You are talking right, young lady.
good stuff!
Thank you!!
I notice when I try to memorize what I have read I don't get to the heart of what's being written .. sometimes I do underline in the Bible when I am following a study plan
Yes! That struggle can be so real. I just memorize but completely miss the point!
I have never used a study Bible and never will. In Bible studies, the notes are read as if they were the Bible itself. I am not saying they are wrong, I think they should be separate from the Bible so they are not added to God’s word.
I like to use them as an additional resource but definitely want God’s Word first! Love that you protect that time in God’s Word 👏
Oh. My. Goodness...I have been oscillating between intake and study. Hmmm.
Have you figured out a plan to move forward?
Thanks for the observation of Prescriptive or Descriptive👍✝️
You're welcome! I am glad it was helpful for you!
