Meryl Streep never fails to inspire me. She's amazing. I think she could do a great portrayal of princess Diana. She has those beautiful gestures that princess Diana had...
+N00PURA Yes, I was thinking the same thing. Very different people, really, but strangely a similarity in looks, or maybe more they way they hold themselves -- the shy but not really shy down/up look -- and the gestures, as you say.
She’s so quiet and reserved here. She really broke out of her shell and has let her personality shine over the past couple of decades. She is a legend. I will never grow tired of watching her perform...or speak...or breathe.
I always found it interesting that people comment on her learning Polish when she actually spoke a lot more German in Sophie's Choice than Polish. Is it because people regard Polish as a more difficult language?
Wow this interview is so rare,I've never seen it.Look at Meryl's amazing skin,my goodness she looks so beautiful.Thank you so much for uploading this,we Streepers are very grateful to you.
The great work she's done SINCE this interview! Easily the most gifted actress in the history of American film. Her range is so wide, so varied, and so multi-colored that it's impossible to think of any other actress who's played such a range of roles. She's as great in comedy as she is in drama. She can sing, she can dance, she's ANYTHING and EVERYTHING!
YES I thought Diana instantly. The clothes, the hair, the humble and shy aura and yet at the same time, regal. Sinning doe eyes. I don't know Nancy Regan all too well (I'm british and quite uneducated) but I'm sure you're right about that too!
been on Meryl marathon for 3 days now lol not doin anythin but obsessing abt her..if u can see Meryl hasnt really changed at all..the way she talks, speaks, tone of voice, mannerisms etc
Really good in Sophie's Choice. Holy shit! Could be one of the best actresses/actors ever. Every moment she was on the screen i could not look away. Great movie. And I'm not one to admit to liking this trust me
The presenter was right, that was, is and will be THE performance by an actress. Every wannabe actress will study this for their own good. Meryl is phenomenal .
She's nothing like Princess Diana. Princess Diana was a humble, sensitive woman who was stuck in a very horrific situation. Meryl Streep is an actress. She's playing a script, just like Tom Hanks and Kevin Spacey.
Mariano Alojado the cruelty must have given them such power or self importance , it's very difficult to understand , I think there must have been an insane high connected to bring do evil and unkind
I never saw "Sophie's Choice" on the big screen, but I have heard that people who did were really affected by it, red-eyed and weepy at the conclusion.
I dunno. But i do think Meryl Streep resembles Princess Diana in this interview from this angle. Will it be late for her to play Diana now since she's mastered the British accent now.
She is so right about the fact that they write about moovies and there is so much talk about them before they even come out that in the end there is just a feeling of tiredness in me...do I really wanna watch this? :(
@skylar1477 i saw this film for the first time last night (and then she won the oscar!) one of the best movies ever, and it is the all time great performance by an actor in a film. :)
Nancy Reagan interviewing Princess Di. If you cut out the voices and just look at the clothes, hair, mannerisms, and utter uncomfortableness of this interview, that's what it looks like! Does anyone else think so?
Can you cry on cue? [I'm going to explain something that you don't understand.] But can you cry on cue?! [I might start crying now, this interview is a nightmare!] No wonder she so rarely does interviews! This one might have been the one to traumatize her for life! Still seeing Princess Di and Nancy Reagan (see below). In a number of shots Streep even has the doe caught in the headlights look that, sadly, Diana always had in interviews. Weird!
I miss the days when Meryl gave interviews like this where it wasn't contrived and as honest as this interview was. I miss the commitment she describes that nowadays seems is a whim because clout has blinded her ability to commit to the process like she used to. It is a shame that Sophie's Choice was the last Oscar she justly deserved. In the meantime every fanatic seems to pray " Meryl, Meryl full of Grace. The Lord is With Thee. Blessed art thou among Women and Blessed is the Fruit of Your Womb Talent. Holy Meryl, Mother of Film, Pray For Us."
If I were an actor in Hollywood I would let it be known that I would only accept roles in movies that had Meryl in them. Maybe then I would get over my unhealthy adoration for this lady. She steals my heart every single time.
I don't think this is a dull o dumb interview from the reporters side, they ask those questions in order to inform, to transform and to bring the truth to the people. I think the lady did her job well and did her research , because the director Alan Pakula (rip) had other European actress in mind and Meryl fought with claws and teeth to get the part.To cry on cue its not easy, if you are not an actor and don't know , theres a technique called emotional memory in which you have to bring something sad or harrowing from life from your past at the moment to mind to cause pain or anguish or a link in the mind to trigger the emotion in a specific moment to make you cry, its not easy, that's why she said i cant cry unless im moved by some reason, its amnetal exercise which requires discipline, Theres an interview with Sally Field in the program Inside the Actors Studio with James lipton, in which a students speaks during the Sally interview and he says that he works very hard in mental terms to make himself sad during those emotional exercises in class, and Sally tells him that must be hard to be sad all the time to be able to achieve that. Now returning to Meryl interview, its a Sunday morning maybe, she rather be in bed, she is also pregnant so to make herself available and willing to talk about her performance is commandable, otherwise this interview could have been history.
some questions are kinda...funny..."how u felf if u didnt get the part?" seriously? try asking that question the the actress that didnt get the part of Scarlett O Hara in Gone With The Wind...cant remember her name, they called her for castings for like 20 times, but at the end, Vivien Leigh came and simply charmed everyone in a day or two...the girl who didnt get that part in GWTW maybe felt like...i dunno...horrid...
Wow…how beautiful is Meryl? Why would the interviewer bring up “Silkwood” & we now “have some footage with Meryl Streep” before she embarrassed herself stating that she hopes to see her at the Oscars (who won the Oscar Award for Best Actress) in a derogatory tone & then turned her sickening poised performance to her true self when the videographers & audio engineers didn’t cut in time!!! Really? Who is this interviewer??
Meryl Streep never fails to inspire me. She's amazing. I think she could do a great portrayal of princess Diana. She has those beautiful gestures that princess Diana had...
+N00PURA Yes, I was thinking the same thing. Very different people, really, but strangely a similarity in looks, or maybe more they way they hold themselves -- the shy but not really shy down/up look -- and the gestures, as you say.
I feel the same!
Princess Do and Streep both have starsign as Cancer
Yes!!!
She’s so quiet and reserved here. She really broke out of her shell and has let her personality shine over the past couple of decades. She is a legend. I will never grow tired of watching her perform...or speak...or breathe.
With age comes confidence.
Right? I could listen to her read the phone book.
She deserved the Oscar completely. She's articulate and thoughtful Learning Polish! My God! ... The work she put into this part is phenomenal.
I always found it interesting that people comment on her learning Polish when she actually spoke a lot more German in Sophie's Choice than Polish. Is it because people regard Polish as a more difficult language?
She is probably not just one of the best actresses of all times, but the BEST among both men and women who ever acted.
She speaks so soft and everything she says makes sense. Love her.
World's best actor hands-down. Streep never fails to amaze with her versatility.
So poised and articulate 37 years ago! The greatest body of work by an actress ever, the greatest actress of our time!
Her eyes are shinning so much. What a natural beauty, and still is after all these years.
Sophie's Choice is one of the best movies ever made, imo.
Oh how amazing...if she only knew what was to come in the next 40 years. How LUCKY are we, her fans.
She has this soft, eloquent beauty that remains me of princess Diana herself. Pleasing to look at and to listen.
Wow this interview is so rare,I've never seen it.Look at Meryl's amazing skin,my goodness she looks so beautiful.Thank you so much for uploading this,we Streepers are very grateful to you.

It’s almost impossible to believe one human being can be this talented. Does she do anything bad?
A legend. Thank you, Mrs. Streep, for your magnificent work.
Mrs. Gumm. Streep is her maiden name.
@@lovingmayberry307 she's divorced!
Meryl Streep is one of the best actresses EVER. She's also so BEAUTIFUL. My favorite Meryl Streep films are Sophie's Choice & Silkwood.
❤
YES I thought Diana instantly. The clothes, the hair, the humble and shy aura and yet at the same time, regal. Sinning doe eyes. I don't know Nancy Regan all too well (I'm british and quite uneducated) but I'm sure you're right about that too!
A beautiful, talented lady
Her performance is one of the best performances ever in a movie.
been on Meryl marathon for 3 days now lol not doin anythin but obsessing abt her..if u can see Meryl hasnt really changed at all..the way she talks, speaks, tone of voice, mannerisms etc
She is one of the best actresses the cinema has ever had!!!!!!!!!!!! she's one in a million
One of the greatest movies of all time.
She reminds me of princess Dianna here
She is the most beautiful acctractive and passionate actress in the world in the life and for all the theatre and movies too .,She is the best!
Definition of self confidence and style. If you can’t cry in the scene, there is something wrong with the scene. Wow
Can you cry on cue? Ok a very dumb question but, Meryl gave an excellent answer
Really good in Sophie's Choice. Holy shit! Could be one of the best actresses/actors ever. Every moment she was on the screen i could not look away. Great movie. And I'm not one to admit to liking this trust me
she is the best..ever
EVER.
At first I thought Reagan's wife was hosting lol!
Lorenz Martin Cruz uncanny from the back , pretty sure she is at least republican.
Me too!
Same lol
Meryl Streep is the best and most beautiful in the world
The presenter was right, that was, is and will be THE performance by an actress. Every wannabe actress will study this for their own good. Meryl is phenomenal .
and then she won the oscar!!! wootwoot!!!
She's nothing like Princess Diana. Princess Diana was a humble, sensitive woman who was stuck in a very horrific situation. Meryl Streep is an actress. She's playing a script, just like Tom Hanks and Kevin Spacey.
Aww, she was so bashful back then!
She and Princess Diana have many similarities.
That was the only movie, which made me sleepless for three nights thinking why can man be so cruel and make another one feel so helpless and alone!

Wow thanx! This is old!
she's like Diana
Amazing ❤
She is so right about the fact that they write about moovies and there is so much talk about them before they even come out that in the end there is just a feeling of tiredness in me...do I really wanna watch this? :(
Did she just ask if Meryl Streep has menthol blown in her eyes to cry? Did she seriously just ask that?!
Wow, she's so much like Lady Diana here
Her shyness...and modesty...is appealing..as lot of Americans are loud and brash..not sensitive like her..
She is such a Godess. So beautiful, so talented, so classy
Sounds more like a courtroom scene than an interview...
Meryl; you're my acting inspiration, and a human one swell!
young irritable pregnant Meryl Streep is my spirit animal
@skylar1477 i saw this film for the first time last night (and then she won the oscar!) one of the best movies ever, and it is the all time great performance by an actor in a film. :)
This is one of the worst set of questions an interviewer has ever conceived.
I agree. Tedious.
EvenEvenOdd I think only one of the questions was silly, the rest seemed pretty good.
I thought she was great
She’s too beautiful✨✨💓💓
2:53-3:29 Studying Polish 3 hours a day
Nancy Reagan interviewing Princess Di. If you cut out the voices and just look at the clothes, hair, mannerisms, and utter uncomfortableness of this interview, that's what it looks like! Does anyone else think so?
Bahaha, I love the awkward ending!
@LovingGod2 you are so right about it, It almost offends such a bic artist, although Meryl, with her grace deals with it ...
Can you cry on cue?
[I'm going to explain something that you don't understand.]
But can you cry on cue?!

how calm she spoke then and how "open" she is now, if you remember her oscar thank...talk^^?
What a great designer of a window.
I miss the days when Meryl gave interviews like this where it wasn't contrived and as honest as this interview was. No disrespect but Meryl looks like princess Diana right there
Was thinking the exact same thing- Princess Diana! 😂
She's WAAAAY better than diana
definitely
Who is this interviewer!? And what network.? Eeeh gad!
Like channel 62 and 63 and hten changed to channel 65 why the spanish channel? Meaning for ppl to travel here to nyc or america?
at first I thought that was nancy reagan
If I were an actor in Hollywood I would let it be known that I would only accept roles in movies that had Meryl in them. Maybe then I would get over my unhealthy adoration for this lady. She steals my heart every single time.
Maryl looks like Madhuri Dikshit from side profile. Another beautiful and talented, Indian actress!
Absolutely right 👍🏻
Wow, Bobbie calledit!

Mike Nichols and Silkwood?
Wow
Peter?
It was an absolute tour De force 😢
Kevin?
OMG this interviewer is TERRRRRIBLE. I've never heard such stupid, pointless questions. Ack! poor Meryl--but as usual she is full of grace.
Allen?
Who is the interviewer?
Don’t know but you saw her true side come out in the end when the videographers didn’t cut at the end of the interview!!!
I've seen this woman interview Carrie Fisher before as well and it was just as awful. 🙊 Meryl is certainly a trooper.
God isn’t she awful? Meryl handled herself beautifully.
Who is the interviewer??

No
Meryl is so wonderful and amazing in this film. But the worst questions (so stupid) from an interviewer!
The most fun she ever had ? ????
everyone had fights about the bermuda triangle?
Ughh again with your weirdo comments.
Holy shit I thought this was princess Diana
you know when you were young one couldn't wait to be aq grown up and watch dirty programs on cable tv.
The interviewer is awful....and Meryl is wonderful.
This is a bad interview with worst set of questions!!!!
Silly questions.
What stupid questions!!!
REMOLINO
I always feel queasy about pregancy wihtout marriage.
Dude your comments are really weird.
Meryl Streep in real life is of Jewish ancestry.
...she is only saying what she wants to say...I feel like she s protecting her art and herself...good for her...not telling everthing to everybody...
How right the interviewer was.
That movie was too depressing
Wow…how beautiful is Meryl?
