Yep, I'm a retail IT admin and the POS is almost always the #1 concern. As you say, it's how we get the money! Common tasks are printing issues, POS peripherals like receipt printers and barcode scanners, and slowness (sometimes network, sometimes an issue with the POS PC). I do a lot of crawling under dusty checkout counters as well.
oh nice! yeah mostly in retail and hospitality, POS is really the priority, I forgot what system we used before. but yeah I do a lot of dirty work too even until now and I like it. I don't wanna be facing the computer all day lol
@@EastCharmer My optometrist always assumes that I'm in front of a screen 24/7 but that's rarely the case... More often I'm driving, or running up and down stairs, or following the wires. I wouldn't trade it for a 100% desk job for anything.
Current position I hold works in some REALLY dirty areas. Glad I can wear jeans and a t-shirt. Like you, my past three environments were all different. Nice outline of all yours!
i work at a hospital - jr system admin - its like jack of all trades 🥲 printers, servers , desktops , cabling , mobile devices, dumb users AND DOCTORS 🥲
Last year I did a internship in Fortinet in France (tech company) and 8 months later I was an apprentice in a medical company and I was the only tech person in the whole company. I can tell the difference is huge especially for a beginner like me
@@EastCharmer to be honest I felt more comfortable in a tech company because I need ppl to train me and I can also relate to them more easily. In the non tech company I have way more responsibility and I can't really relate to ppl that much. For now I prefer being in a tech company but it may change when I'll get more experience
@@Miko06Smash oh I feel the same. I learned so much in the tech company too and I got along with people there because we have a lot in common (video games, anime) unlike the the non tech companies I worked for. And yeah I agree, in non-tech companies, IT does everything so it's also stressful.
Hi! I just noticed your video appeared on my homepage. Thank you for sharing, I really appreciate your content. I'm curious, do you have Malay/Indonesian blood? 😁
@East charmer please make a video about the Company Management in the US :) I am working as an IT for more 5 years now here in ph. Management sucks. 😁 we have job similarity, however, some of the tech you mentioned I haven't experienced that yet.
Hello! can you please be specific with "company management"? Is it how the company manages IT, the employees, or the company in general? Oh yeah some of the tech I mentioned are also almost obsolete lol like SCCM
Thanks! I enjoyed making this video as well. yeah we used AWS but my role was limited to just creating S3 buckets lol AWS were used mostly by our Systems Engineering team
