When I was a kid I now know this is a car my dad had. Everywhere we went blokes would look at it and ask what it was. I wasn't then into cars but I knew there was something special about it. Years later and I am a fervent classic car lover but I could never pin down what that car my dad had was, until I saw this. I recognised it straight away. It was rare in the 1950's let alone now. I wish I could buy this one.
Unfortunately when you take the original registration number off a car it devalues the car so what you think you can sell the number for you don't gain anything.
@williamwade641: Absolutely ! Couldn't agree more ! Sadly this is what makes the distinction between a pukka dyed in the wool old car enthusiast and an avaricious opportunistic unconscionable maverick. I do believe the VSCC have made representations previously to the DVLA in order to prevent such sacrilege ,...but money talks,....esp. to govt depts !
The original number is vital to preserve what value is in this car.
The dvla should make all pre war car reg numbers non-transferable. That would instantly stop the stealing of the number..

Agree leave the orig reg on car
Not having the original registration number would be a deal breaker for me. Lovely car though.

Keeping the original reg to squeeze more money from you in my eyes
Pity they want to keep the original registration… that’s a deal breaker for me too
Is the elastic band an optional extra? LOL
