It is 4:26 a.m. and I found this and I can't stop watching. I wish I owned this when I had a pinball machine as well as my last two moves. Bravo to the engineers that designed this and the machinists that made it happen. Cool stuff.
Wow que ingeniosa y magnifica herramienta, grandiosa escalera. Tal vez pueda haber algun representante autorizado en mi pais o region agradezco mucho, saludos de La Paz Bolivia Sudamerica. 29/05/20
I'm thinking of buying one of these for around the house. Any advice on how to decide between the 66" or the 72". I'll probably only use it a couple times a year, but I"m getting older and I want a way to safely move items up and down the stairs, as well as load things in and out of my truck by myself. Any other advice before I buy? Thanks
Shorter units are more maneuverable in tight spaces and taller units provide more leverage for balancing taller loads. The Removable Forklift Attachment will work with a 66" or 72" StairCAT. One of our reps will contact you. Regards.
I rented one of these and I found it hard to use. I found the big wheel kept wanting to slide out on the stairs and I was trying to move a bandsaw which was pretty top heavy and this tool didn't help with the weight distribution. I ended up returning the unit within about 2 hours of using it on one step going from my garage into my home.
Nate, Sorry to hear you had trouble, especially when you only needed to climb one step. We always recommend practicing with the StairCAT empty before moving a heavy load for the first time, so that you can get the feel of how it operates. The StairCAT is essentially a hand truck. It will balance in the same fashion as a non-powered hand truck. Weight distribution is dependent on the load, unless you are using one of our forklift type units to adjust the load up and down. Achieving a good center of balance is described in the Frequently Asked Questions video found here. th-cam.com/video/ROULKNASUHo/w-d-xo.html Also, because you were using a rental unit, we can't speak it's condition and maintenance. You might find it helpful to watch this video of moving a band saw on the StairCAT model MS-1-66. th-cam.com/video/WiUfPHVZKqk/w-d-xo.html Interesting you were moving a band saw from your garage into your house. Please feel free to contact our office with any questions.
I've worked for a lot of moving companies. Time and efficiency are key. A good set of shoulder strap and a dolly with large wheels is most helpful. I could see this being helpful for a 500lb fridge on some straight stairs, but again, if there is a turn in the stairs, you won't have room to tilt the dolly, and small wheels make large items very hard to dolly over the smallest of cracks.
Question: I have 2 of the 700lb units and one of the motors burned out(both units are over 5 years old), do you sell just the motor, or can I send them in for repair? I don't recall seeing this info on your website.
The motor is available for sale. It is actually fairly easy to replace. Give us a call at the office and we can get one sent out right away. www.escalera.com

You still have to have incredible strength to pull it towards you to keep this from happening.
