    I'm a retired man that's looking to relocate to Saint John (hopefully soon), and I've reached that point where I feel that driving is a luxury that I don't need in my own life. So I took my license, my insurance payments, the upkeep and maintenance to a vehicle, and the insane price of gas these days, and traded it all in for public transit.
    Which leads to my comment on your vid here. I really appreciate you making a vid on the public transit of Saint John and I appreciate the friendliness of drivers like Dan who don't get uptight about cameras on their bus. The price of the fare there is much smaller than in my current city but then my current city is much larger than Saint John. Although I imagine the city there may have raised the fare a bit in the year since you uploaded this vid.
    Again thanks very much for uploading this vid. Cheers.

    OMG it was so lovely sharing this bus-ride video with you today! The ride for me was reminiscent of trips to High School so many years ago... (1961 - 1964). If memory serves me well (60 years ago... I believe the bus fare was 10 cents)??? Obviously buses & routes have changed over the years but certainly still a great means of transportation around the city. I also recall the bus drivers back then were kind, considerate and caring too. Thank you Wendy & Les for presently more memory- inspiring moments for me! ❤️🌟🥰❤️🌟🥰🌹🌹🌹❤️🌟🥰❤️

    This is a great video. And you guys seem like such a dynamic couple.
    Although you are giving incorrect information. I ve been traveling on it all my life. The 15 isn't ever half hour only during peek hours. The are many places the transit does not go with in the premises of saint john. Like our iconic Irving nature trail. You can also transfer/connect at any bus stop as long as it is in the same direction. Again this is also random because some buses connect and others you will have to wait. Actually the milford bus doesn't run till 11 am and also is a 50 minute wait for the harbour bridge because they don't connect. And I did ask the drive if he could walkie the 15 to hold and he told me no. It's definitely cheap but can be very inconvenient amd time consuming for people who don't drive and use this as there only source of transportation.
    Hope you guys have a great rest of your week. 👍

    The punch card that you used to board the bus, Les & Wendy, is called a TransCard. They're something that I used quite frequently during various points in my time as a Saint John Transit user(when I lived in Saint John).
    And the cash farebox I saw beside the driver? I can't believe that type of farebox is still being used, 24 years after I first saw them in late-1998. That's crazy to me. O.o

      @@13painterman There are apparently structural issues with the original facility on Douglas Avenue, and the decision was made not to renew the lease on the Market Square location. The collections are all being packed off to storage somewhere; I have no idea about the staff.
      This is a rough year for museums -- the Glenbow Museum (Calgary) and the Royal British Columbia Museum (Victoria) are also both closed for multi-year renovation projects. ☹️ (I used to work in the heritage sector, but I left about a decade ago for more stable employment.)

    I live on the west side of saint John and make use of the transit bus. precisely Bus 14. Transit system is NOT effective and needs an improvement. Some bus routes do not function on weekends. The last bus on the west side is before 6pm/Wait time is an hour. That to me is crap. I spend more money on cabs.

    Public transit in Saint John is surprisingly good given the small size of the city; it is _much_ better than Fredericton. Some routes are a bit convoluted and meandering -- e.g. the #1A/B from the Lancaster Mall to East Point -- but they eventually get there.
    Sadly, you missed the window to visit the New Brunswick Museum. It was an amazing facility with some great exhibits on industrial history (including a Bricklin automobile). It closed about a month ago pending the construction of a new facility. Alas, that means that the collection will probably remain in storage for the next few decades.
    There is still a decent museum in Moncton, and numerous small facilities in other communities.

    • @WeLoveSaintJohn
      @WeLoveSaintJohn  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agreed. The city we moved from in BC is a similar size but their transit was nothing compared to what we have in Saint John. And the friendly drivers are a real bonus.

    Hi nice video. I have a few questions pls.
    Is the bus tickets sold on the bus or I'll have to buy them online.
    The bundle of 10 are each tickets unlimited for a day when activated of its a bundle of 10 single trips?
    Thank you

    • @WeLoveSaintJohn
      @WeLoveSaintJohn  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can buy a single ticket on the bus but you need exact change. Not sure if you can buy the 10 pack on board, but they are sold in many stores. The 10 pack does not expire, just use them whenever for a trip here or a trip there. They are 10 single trips but you can also get a free transfer on the bus, just ask for it.

    Hello . My Wife and I have been thinking about moving to New Brunswick for some time now and we found your channel a few months ago and it really has helped us inch closer to doing it.
    One thing though that we noticed is a lot of buses seems to not run in the evening around areas we find. Is this a common thing down there? We don’t drive so walking and transit would be our main form of transportation.
    Love the channel and the videos

      The Main Lines run until late evening. The feeder runs finish in the early evening. It's been this way since Covid hit. There are changes coming soon that will hopefully help make the service better.
