Damn not Beauty Bakerie! I'm not that surprised because it's been a very long time since they released anything but I'm sad. They had a really fun concept
@tondaniraluswinga2590 because after their first few launches, they didn't really come out with anything that interesting. This is the thing with business, you have to play your cards right. They didn't invest in their marketing so they eventually just faded into the background.
All of this needed to be said.... I really hate this for Beauty Bakerie. I can't help but remember how Huda Beauty literally bit off their ideas. They didn't deserve this.
People need to also stop focusing only on the Black Owned Brands at Sephora. There's a lot of ones at Ulta and the drugstores people barely mention that deserve support too. But all I see is hype for Fenty, Danessa, Pat, LYS, and Juvia's Place. Would love to see more people talk about KNC Beauty, Mary Louise Cosmetics, Marie Hunter Beauty, Coloured Raine, Bossy Cosmetics, Eloise Beauty, and more.
LITERALLY just had this convo. I felt a shift at 24-25. Then at 30. Then 35. It is a privilege to age. Each point offers growth and a new deeper adventure if you welcome it. This BB post just sounded like a black woman allowing herself to age gracefully. It’s a perfect ending if there ever was one ❤ Also, heavy on the “make some more noise” because where I’m located, it’s like black owners are damn near scared to say they’re black owned 😭 like, I’m learning that some avoid that label & it makes it harder to find and support them specifically
I got the email that Beauty Bakerie was closing shop, and I am devastated, BUT, what an incredibly classy way to close up shop. Cashmere is an inspiration ❤️❤️
I think the line went “down” when she left the country. I don’t think that she was able to market her line fully from so far away and without a proper support team. Lastly, I don’t think the Cashmere should have put her faith as a reason for letting her company slide. Spiritual maturity isn’t an excuse for failure or complacency. I know that this is an unpopular opinion…

Damn this is wild! I was thinking about BB a few days ago and I noticed her personal account has become very faith-based lately (no problem with that as I am a Christian too) but noticed the brand was very quiet lately.
Beauty Bakery had a great concept! Such a vision! I’ll continue to cherish and use the products I have. The owner and brand should be proud of there accomplishments!
So sad, it's like they're closing one by one. We only have a few black owned mainstream beauty brands left. COVID really took a hit on small companies. Maybe in the future she might rebrand and restore it. If anyone still wants to get her products they are avaliable on Amazon. A few items have sold out already. Wish her the best.
Thank you for pointing out just how far Black owned brands has come! It’s a beautiful thing! I’m almost 59 years old. So really a lot of y’all have no idea as to just how far the beauty industry has come! Celebrate that! Not only do we have Black owned brands, but we have made others more inclusive for our needs. I give a big shoutout to Jackie Ina for that! I’ll miss Beauty Bakery but because she’s doing what she believes the LORD is calling her to do. Kudos to you Sister!!! 👏🏾 👏🏾👏🏾 Bravo!
I was devastated when I saw the news this morning! Their pressed powder they just released was exactly what I needed in my collections, all the other pressed powders I’ve tried either turn my makeup a shade darker or are too light to work. Plus their Sangria Splash lip whip is my HOLY GRAIL color. I’ve gotten SO MANY compliments over the years about it. I’m running to Ulta to buy some backups before they sell out. But also, I’m not surprised because they never evolved with the trends. And I think they expanded more then the brand was ready for.
THEY ARE CLOSING?! I remember finding beauty bakerie early on and they really heightened my expectations as a consumer and black makeup user. I wish them the best on the next chapter.
First TH-camr/ influencer to mention current economic conditions. It seems a like some of the other girlies are living in a bubble. You don’t half to be negatively impacted to see the prices going up. This impacts everyone regardless of social economic status. It’s a mess out here in these streets especially for average Americans, and businesses. I loved the owner of Beauty Bakery’s message
It's a tough time for beauty brands and it will probably get worse this year as the worldwide economy is not as strong as it was a few years ago. I think her heart was not in it anymore but the fact that she did not want to pursue a sale also says to me perhaps financially the brand was not doing as well? It's interesting she chose Good Friday to share this message. Of course bad news is always shared on a Friday in the PR world so people have the weekend to get over it but GF being today is potent considering her focus on her faith now. Good luck to her. I noticed BB's social media pages were very quiet lately as well. I think Mented is next. Their FB pages are full of angry and upset customers and the brand has stopped responding on Instagram as well. One of the cofounders posts a tonne on TikTok about Taylor Swift but never about her brand? Thanks for the video XOXO

I had a look because I heard complaints in another beauty group so checked out the FB page myself and lots of angry people on there saying they will not shop from Mented again. @@jostinaluver i agree. I think mented over expanded in terms of distribution. When repurchasing my lippie on black friday, i saw it online in limited amounts at macys, target, qvc, hsn, and ulta. Their site seems to go down often.
Ikr I noticed before 2020 on the Sephora website, they barely had BOBs like that. And in 2020, a lot of companies were doing damage control talking about how they'll "do better" and all of a sudden, started showing A LOT of black models, promoted BOBs and blk digital artists on social media, and more haircare brands are catering to type 4 hair or makeup for brown/ dark brown skin tones. It's pretty obvious this only happened because of what took place with GF in 2020. But if that never happened, other people would stay gaslighting & excluding bw, and then when we make our own products, those same people will complain about how the BOB brand doesn't cater to "fair skin tones" or that it's "too heavy for their hair" or call it "wokism", etc. The fact that black women, in particular, spend an estimated $7.5 billion annually on beauty products, shelling out 80% more on cosmetics and twice as much on skin care as their non-Black counterparts, but are also heavily underrepresented/ and underserved in the beauty market, proves that most of these brands CHOSE to exclude us, until after a tragedy happened. A lot of their technology and branding was stolen by larger shops and then we no longer supported them. Sad really. Everyone jumped on the “cake powder” trend….and we stopped hearing about them. I’m happy she turned to the lord. Can’t wait to see where she lands next.
I woke up to the EMAIL and low-key felt so sad. And they stopped taking orders 😭😭 those lip whips, powders, etc were staples! The theming was always on point - she had a cute concept that never felt overly childish 😭😭😭

I had to find another brand for my concealer because the Mented website is under construction. I am most likely going to declutter the rest of the products that I have because I have already replaced them with a brand that stays current with its consumers. The items that I replaced will expire soon anyway but it's disappointing that Mented is staying silent.
I'm a little confused by the line "am I more known for this achievement or for knowing & loving the Lord?" Unless someone is a pastor or minister or missionary, how would someone be most known for being of the religion majority of the world? Why would your religious pursuits involve being known?
I believe she's implying that she is known for making money (worldly pursuits) but not for the spiritual enrichment that she is so passionate today. It sounds to me like she wants to bring people to her view of her faith. I'm a Christian so I empathise with her wanting to immerse herself but I don't think she should shut the business down to only focus on her faith. I think it would have been so inspiring to continue to grow her brand and continue to nourish her heart with Christ.
Christians are called to be pastors, ministers and missionaries. Great and small living as missionaries to a dying world. Her statement was beautiful and showing there is bigger than beautifying the body but not caring for the soul.
If we're practicing our faith, we talk about it and bear fruit. It shows up in the way we treat others, how we deal with challenges, what & how we talk, our general aura. People like that are like lights in the world. They just have that kind, peaceful, quietly powerful spirit from God about them. It's awesome. I'm sorry to see the brand go, but I pray she's blessed on her journey
Eloquently spoken and it appears as if she’s matured over the years and found that which is most important to her personally. I’d not ever used any item from this brand. Her eyes have been opened and she seems what she was unable before. May God bless and keep her upon the path He’s allowed her to step upon. Thank You for keeping us informed.
I’m confused by the rhetoric about the Lord, was this how they were writing on posts for the brand? I mean, I’m religious but I can’t think of a single person that decided to start/run a cosmetics brand because of their faith. At least that’s what the description in the IG post had mentioned… regardless, it’s sad to learn that they’re closing but all the best to the owner & the employees.
@@GG_Pretty I don't think that is fair at all. She said she was leaving to focus on her religion. Nowhere in her post is she projected or saying you have to convert to her beliefs. This is a cheap shot.
@@hayaglamazonluxe no, I didn’t say that she was trying to convert anyone, only that the IG post alludes to a reason she started the brand as being inspired by her faith.

They'll probably have lots of discounts now.

I'm glad I had picked up a bit of everything over the years so I had a wide variety of testing the brand out. Still, it's sad to see a brand who was around when I was really beginning to dabble into beauty close it's doors
I loved beauty bakerie so much but I don’t think they ever recovered from all those allegations on how business was being handled a couple years ago. I loved Cashmere so much but unfortunately nothing was the same after that 💔 I wish they could’ve turned things around bc the quality was there!
I’ve been using their setting powders for the last several months and just bought another mini lip whip a few months ago. I just saw my Target has a few Cranberry Stilettos left and I needed a new one so I’m gonna grab one. But Poundcake is a great red liquid lipstick option too that’s at Ulta. I need Mented to come back though. 😞
I still have the pink blush from them I bought about 2 years ago. It's sad but I know it happens. I'm still going to buy from black businesses and wish them the best.
I was JUST thinking about their brand last night and planned on looking into them. I was hoping it wouldn’t be a similar situation to the ones you’ve been discussing
I hope that isn’t true about mented!! I love their eyebrow pencil and I’ve tried all the popular ones from ulta. I refuse to start the journey over to find a decent eyebrow pencil! 😭🤧
I'm actually not surprised by Beauty Bakery, just because it seems like it has been a while since they've had new launches, but it's still sad to hear. I appreciate the way Cashmere closed shop...very tasteful. I swear, everything you said about turning 30 is so true! I've been saying the same exact same things since I've turned 30 and I'm now about to be 40! It seems like the minute you turn 30, the change is instant!
ATP whether she sold the company or not ppl weren’t buying so even if she sold and an uproar from the blk community happened saying they won’t buy anymore… dudes you weren’t buying to begin with.
I was actually thinking about buying a few of their lip products because of the hype around them a few years ago, and then this happened. I at least wish she tried to sell everything before shutting the business down. Ulta has the regular lipsticks but not the lippies that went viral.
Not to be that person but she became extra religious right around Covid and (I’m not completely sure) I feel she was anti vax at a point bc of it. She was steadfast about it if my memory serves correct (I remember seeing some drama around them on IG n her saying y’all couldn’t shake her faith 🧐) n gave them a wide birth. Never really heard much again since and just figured they were on their urban decay tip and had a loyal fan base. Sorry to hear they’re closing. Can u look into hidden cosmetics? The ones who were originally selling the glitter lip kits? Something weird is happening with them
My goodness!!! Does she really have to shut the whole thing down?!?!? I'd rather she sell it to a major corporation than just shut it down completely!!!!!!!
This was such a wholesome take on her exiting the beauty industry. Compared to reddit lol some of the theories/interpretations they had chile. A whole rabbit whole of mess and tbh some of it kinda makes sense.

If I’m gonna be honest .. I feel like a lot of people use Christianity as a shield for backlash.
@@hayaglamazonluxeit’s cheap to claim your leaving to focus on your religion when anyone with any level of sense can tell this is a economic problem. People are buying beauty like that . Ppl aren’t even talking about bb like that anymore. The Beauty sector on TH-cam is even suffering. The views aren’t what they use to be!
No way! I was getting a ton of marketing emails from them like last month. Her IG caption was hella religious for no reason but.. wish her the best.
we are definitely taking steps backwards for sure.. it's a lot to process. Deep sigh..
😭😩😔
My daughter is going Lose IT! She loves Beauty Bakery and uses a lot of their products. I'm going to give her a heads up so she can see if it's possible to get some of her favorites if she moves quickly. I appreciate how you keep us in the know Shanygne
Tell her to go to CVS AND TARGET
@@aprilforever215 Thank You!
Thank you for this video. I am sad to hear this. I use BB Cotton Candy blush/highlighter palette almost daily, and I just love it. I purchased other products after receiving an item in a FabFit box. I pray Cashmere will be successful in whatever she does next. She is a talented and beautiful woman, and I thank her for bringing BB to us❤.
I respect their realization of what God wanted for their lives in the end. I wish them the best 🙏🏽
I’m actually devastated 😭
30?? I’m pushing 50…, it is a PRIVILEGE and BLESSING to get older…. I embrace it, because I don’t want the other option….. as my grandma used to say “just keep living” ❤
Welp guess I better stock up on the products I love from them. Their blushes are perfect and I will forever love their eyeshadow.
Lol, maybe i better do that. I'm not really big on brand consumption (i focus on product more than anything else), but the first time I bought anything from bite beauty was when they were closing. 😂 I only have a liquid lipstick from BB (which i don't really like without a liner and it is MATTE) which i got from Target. They'll probably have lots of discounts now.
Wow, so ad but happy if she feels this is what is best for her 🙏🏽🙏🏽BB pumpkin blush is the best orange color blush ever on melanin skin
3:10 I'm confused😕 they just launched the pink Himalaya powder & started sellin in target.. 😳😭 I have $100 something products from a 40 % off sale.. And within that sale their foundation line was ending it had something to do w/NOT being able to get them made in Japan anymore, Signed up for the text message club. Just so confused😕.. 😳😭😔😔😔😔😔😔😔😔
I'm glad I had picked up a bit of everything over the years so I had a wide variety of testing the brand out. Still, it's sad to see a brand who was around when I was really beginning to dabble into beauty close it's doors
Sad to see Beauty Bakerie go but happy for her. But I really did want to try the new pressed powder 🥹
I loved beauty bakerie so much but I don’t think they ever recovered from all those allegations on how business was being handled a couple years ago. I loved Cashmere so much but unfortunately nothing was the same after that 💔 I wish they could’ve turned things around bc the quality was there!
They make my favorite powder! I wish I would have gotten a backup! 😩
I thought they were doing good since I see Beauty Bakerie products at my local CVS store. Enjoyed the video!
NOoooo!!!! I LOVE their blush!!! Especially the orange one!
The fact that she said this was a calling from God and he is calling her to another purpose is amazing to me. To God be the glory !!
The lip whip colors were iconic
Nooooo not beauty bakerie! 😩 that oil/foundation combo was top tier. Pretty much all of their products. Imma miss them fr 💔
I still have the pink blush from them I bought about 2 years ago. It's sad but I know it happens. I'm still going to buy from black businesses and wish them the best.
I'm glad the company existed.
I read where she is starting a Christian podcast.
I love the setting powder 😢
You look so pretty!
Damn that’s a shame but if her heart is no longer in it or her calling has changed it is what it is.
This makeup look😍
I was JUST thinking about their brand last night and planned on looking into them. I was hoping it wouldn’t be a similar situation to the ones you’ve been discussing
I hope that isn’t true about mented!! I love their eyebrow pencil and I’ve tried all the popular ones from ulta. I refuse to start the journey over to find a decent eyebrow pencil! 😭🤧
i just went to mented's website and the site says "under maintenance - stay tuned for updates" damn!!! 😫
The ceo casually mentioned a relaunch on tiktok
Yes I'm worried about Mented. 😟
With age comea wisdom and gray hair is a crown of glory....
This makes me sooo sad their powder is my absolute favoriteeeee 😢😢😢also i loved their concept
That second foundation, glass skin, was what I used until I couldn't find it anymore 😢
This is why i don't buy Huda Beauty. She stole from these black creators. Karma won't forget and neither will i.
Yesss ! I was trying to catch the last sale!
She just launched a pink version of her setting powder! Like what!?!
ATP whether she sold the company or not ppl weren’t buying so even if she sold and an uproar from the blk community happened saying they won’t buy anymore… dudes you weren’t buying to begin with.
I thought Estée Lauder bought Beauty Bakery. I see their products in the Cosmetic Company Outlet stores.
Sooo with them still being in Target once they still sell out that’s it?
Yup. That’s it😭. I love their Lip Whips so I went to see if I could grab some off Amazon and only the setting powder and base stick was left…
Omggggg not Beauty Bakerie 😩😢
What is on ya face the whole face is lifeeeeeee
Is it true Mented is shutting down too?
Wow I love their powder!!! I cant believe it
sad....although i don't think i ever tried any of their products
Thank you!!!
Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe a lot of people stopped supporting BB when she did some PR thing with Jefferson St@r...
Yeah that and around lockdown time they came under fire for making a statement like most black households didn’t have a dad 🥴
I forgot all about them after that
@@justshanygne Yikesss
I never heard of the brand
I need more BOB in ulta bc as a consumer Sephora’s reward program is absolutely trash. Ulta has a much better rewards program.
WE ARE DEFINITELY GOING BACKWARDS
!!!
Wow I never got to try it
I went to order setting more setting powder and everything was GONE 😭
This was good brand, loved the creative concept of the brand as well. 😢
I was actually thinking about buying a few of their lip products because of the hype around them a few years ago, and then this happened. I at least wish she tried to sell everything before shutting the business down. Ulta has the regular lipsticks but not the lippies that went viral.
I’m surprised no one bought beauty bakerie.
Maybe there were no profits to justify a purchase? Beauty is a tough business for sure
Say it ain't so!! 💔💔💔💔😮
😢😢😢😢 we love you beauty bakerie
I bought their concealers and some pressed powders maybe 3 months ago. Dang
hey, i need a new foundation and idk where to go. oily skin and im prob a lil lighter than you :)
TFS! 😊
Lord, not even a blowout sale, just closed!!😫
Jackie Aina, with her 46-step makeup routine did the dirtiest review on her and it went so sideways… so that’s really what happened.
